@clared55 I think it depends on the area. My hospital don't offer it with the 20 week scan so I have it booked for when I will be 18 weeks which is in just over a week's time.

italianwifey · 27/10/2018 11:00

Eek just wanted to share with u all we found out this morning he’s a boy! So excited :-) @organised5 i would love to join but will
Pm you when I’m at a computer!

clared55 · 27/10/2018 11:53

@italianwifey how exciting, congratulations! Going to hold out until our 20 week scan on 20th November to find out but the suspense is killing me!

@ashley992 I have to book my whooping cough jab with my GP so will probably book it in to have it within the next few weeks.

AlbaGirl8 · 27/10/2018 15:02

Hi all, just checking in here so I can keep up with the new thread. So exciting reading about how you’re all getting on! I’m 16+1 today, still being sick a few times a week but at least it’s night and day from the way I was feeling earlier in the pregnancy. Was adamant about not finding out sex, but as the 20 week scan draws closer and DH really wants to, I’m getting more tempted! What to do! Hope everyone is well x

I always said I wouldn't find out as I loved that DH got to be the one that told me our baby was a boy in the delivery room.. but as we're getting closer, I'm more and more tempted!

Is anyone set with names yet? We've had a few weeks away from looking but I'm pretty sure we'll never find a name we can agree on for a girl!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 27/10/2018 18:12

I don’t think I’m going to find out but we’re in the middle of a house redec and I need to paint what will be the babies room, am thinking either white or light grey so I can liven up with accessories.
So tough I’m finding it really hard making decisions on anything!

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 27/10/2018 18:12

Names too, I’ve got a list but definitely not set on anything

monkerina · 27/10/2018 18:26

Hello everyone, welcome new ladies! I was on day 48 when I ovulated @rosalind22, you're not alone! Definitely finding out the sex at the 20 week scan if we can, need to prepare 2y8m DS if it's not a sister- he's convinced it is. He's really clingy, doesn't like to share his mummy, and is due to start preschool after being at home with me til now... In April. Due April 3rd (but he was 10 days late) so suuuuure that's going to go swimmingly...

We have a girls name figured. Boys not as sure yet, but we did find a name we both loved today. We are going with my surname. The most sure part we have!

SPR1107 · 27/10/2018 21:31

Your surname as babies first name or babies having your surname @MigMog

WhereistheWit · 28/10/2018 07:04

@Sheratheallpowerful Thank you for thinking of me! Yes I managed to get my scan sorted in the end thankfully! I still haven’t had my booking in appt though due to mess ups so doing everything backwards and skipping to my 16 week appt tomorrow haha! Everything seems great with baby which I’m so happy about.

Also I had a private gender scan yesterday and I’m having a girl! We couldn’t believe it as we have 2 boys I’d convinced myself I’d only have boys! I think I’m still in shock and may have cheekily bought a dress after the scan!

@SPR1107 the babies last name being mine.

I don't want to get married and would never change my name. I'm quite attached to my surname and want to pass it on.

Hi ladies.
Can I join your group? Been reading for weeks

I'm 17 weeks, so due on 9th April. My 2nd baby, but my partners 1st.
It will be a 20 year gap for me 🙈....... so pretty much feels like my first again (extremely nervous).
Starting to feel like forever now since my 12 week scan and ages till my next one for reassurance.

@monkerina my DB was born in September when I was almost 3 and my mum delayed me starting at a nursery until after Christmas so I didn’t feel like I was being pushed out. Might be worth speaking to the preschool and seeing what they advise (eg starting with 1 or 2 sessions a week rather than more or delaying the start TIL May)
We (hopefully) find out the sex in 2 and a bit weeks, planning (she says) on keeping it to ourselves/DM/MIL/DD/DF. Can’t risk telling DGM as although she forgets what day it is sometimes she remembers things like that and tells everyone!

Griffer · 28/10/2018 09:57

Welcome @Elsie258

Copy and paste the list of due dates and you can add yourself in. That's quite a gap, but awesome too! I quite like the idea. I've more than likely left it too late though, I'd be 53 in 20 years.

@Migmog I'm jealous. We don't even dare broach the subject of surname anymore. We've been together nearly 11 years, he was adamant he wanted to propose and wouldn't have it the other way around, but then never did. I just don't get it! We've had arguments about surnames if we were married in the past, before baby came along. I'm attached to my surname and just don't want to "belong" to his family (I have never mentioned this last part about his family). I always wanted him to acknowledge that I have the right to choose if I take his surname. If I suggest a combined surname, his excuse is that he's always grown up knowing he'll always be his family name. As if it ever even occurred to me to think otherwise with mine.
I don't like the idea of my child having a different surname to me and get it that he would feel the same. It's a complete stalemate and I don't know what to do. I tried suggesting that we register baby with my name, as you can subsequently re-register for free to the fathers name if you subsequently get married.

Sorry for the rant! I just find it really hard.

MigMog · 28/10/2018 10:32

@Griffer it's really hard isn't it.
We've been together 11 years too. OH would love to marry but he understands my reason not too. (controversial) but I just don't agree with what it used to represent (ownership). I think civil partnerships are a step forward.

We had a long discussion one night about surnames. Both are attached and find it our identity and one of us would feel put out if baby took the others name. He has just accepted that it's going to take my name. And we really don't want to double barrel it and both of our surnames are odd too, so it would sound hideous.

I want my name to continue. His name is his identity now, but in his family it's just him and his bro. His mum remarried and his dad left him when he was 7. So it's not got as much as a family meaning to him.

He's happy with it now. His family don't mind, my family think it's weird that we aren't going the traditional route. But we aren't really a traditional couple.

Braverthanweare · 28/10/2018 16:49

I've got to wait until 8th of Nov for my 20 week scan but so excited! Pretty much set on a girl's name and not a clue for a boy's name! Well I have some I like but not one I love 🙈

Griffer · 28/10/2018 17:35

@Migmog you could be describing my situation.
I too am interested in civil partnership. It's not something I've brought up yet though.

We really do need to sit down and talk about surnames though. Just dreading it!
