Have you got a HR department that you can raise it with?

Griffer · 07/12/2018 18:36

It is HR that are telling me to make up the hours. They know exactly what they're doing.

I've only got 3 more appointments left until I'm on leave anyway

Footymum81 · 08/12/2018 01:22

@griffer sadly it seems many places get away with not sticking to the letter of the law regarding maternity appointments being paid time off. And they rely on you not wanting to rock the boat so they can keep doing it.
I’ve not had an appointment on a work day yet but we have to clock in and out, so the record sent to payroll would show that I left for x amount of time and I don’t know whether that would be deducted or not. A collegue had an accident at work (fell down stairs and chipped a tooth, head injury so went to A and E) and they deducted her 15 mins pay as she hadn’t clocked out! She got it back eventually.
10 weeks until my leave starts! Well, first 2 weeks are annual leave then 4 weeks maternity leave before my due date. Baby is becoming more and more active each day. I just can’t wait to meet him.

MigMog · 10/12/2018 08:24

It is disgusting that so many places out there get away with ignoring the law around maternity.

In a society where the me too movement has really pushed women's right to the forefront you would think businesses would follow law.

Slight change of topic but anyone got any hints and tips on dealing with pregnancy acne?! I have a Christmas party next week with a strappy jumpsuit, but angry red spots keep popping up all over my face, shoulders and back! Have tried a few easily available products that worked for me back in teenage acne days (freederm, clearasil, neutrogena) but nothing is tackling the hormon raging spots, and I’m not so keen on my outfit for next week with a join the dots situ going on all across my back! Could get a new outfit but paid £30 for maternity jumpsuit and want to wear it! Urgh!

Redken24 · 10/12/2018 20:31

I use la roche posay. It is the only thing that worked after I had my daughter and helping now too.

Redken24 · 16/12/2018 20:06

21weeks and can see baby kicking! Can't remember how early it was last time. ☺

Annie264 · 17/12/2018 10:57

@Redken24 aww that's amazing! I'm 24 weeks, I can feel her kicking quite hard but can't feel on the outside yet which is a shame for my husband! I want him to experience it too! I'm plus size so I'm guessing that's why - quite a few layers for her to get through! 🤣

Redken24 · 17/12/2018 19:37

It won't be long til he can feel it too. I can really only see when i lie on my back. And congratulations on a wee girl x

Has everyone had their scan yet? Be interesting to see how many blues / pinks / yellows there are. Maybe add in below?

@SPR1107

23 weeks now and also yellow - feeling movement regularly which makes me feel better.

I have the glucose tolerance test (due to family history) Friday which seems early, but MW wouldn't let me make it January.

Anyone else having it soon?

5tarlight · 18/12/2018 07:55

Hi all, hope you're all doing well! 22+3 here, bits of movement here too but mostly just fleeting and have anterior placenta so likely to stay like that for a while. Feeling generally quite good (well, normal at least!) which is nice after tri#1, just get a bit pooped doing things like cleaning and carrying things upstairs so I just need to remember to take it a bit easy. Noone's mentioned ggt to me so hoping stays that way! Hope you are all on the home straight with prep for Xmas, am getting there slowly!

Hiya
Hope everyone is well and the bumps are starting to wriggle around!

I'm 25+3 and have just got the worst cold in the world. 2 massive cold sores a Sore throat, sneezy, headaches and aches. Every time I cough I feel like I'm pulling on the muscles around the bump. Had a very non helpful pharmacist who told me I couldn't have strepsils due to the high alcohol content. And basically advised rest ( a week before Christmas! )and hot honey and lemon
Anyone have any tips on getting over it quickly.

SPR1107 · 19/12/2018 08:11

I'm pretty sure you can have Sudafed in the second trimester? But double check first. Hopefully it clears in time for Christmas!

SPR1107 · 19/12/2018 08:12

And you can use Zovirax for the cold sores

Redken24 · 19/12/2018 14:20

You cannot have lemsip due to the decongestant.
Drink water water water

5tarlight · 19/12/2018 17:07

How much alcohol could physically be in one stepsil? Confused

5tarlight · 19/12/2018 17:18

I had to know! Per netdoctor:
Strepsils original lozenges are not expected to be harmful if used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, as their safety has not been fully studied, and as with all medicines, you should get advice from your doctor, pharmacist or midwife before taking them if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Stepsil website and medicine.org say broadly the same. On that basis I would have the odd strepsil personally @Shk38. Am sure there's less alcohol than my planned glass of fizz on Xmas day 😀. Others are right tho re no lemsip, just paracetamol, lots of fluids. Hope you're on the mend soon Flowers

Shk38 · 19/12/2018 17:27

Thanks for the tips.

Trying to rest and have got fluids etc.

I ignored the pharmacist and had a few strepsils. If there was that much alcohol in them they wouldn't let you buy them under 18!

Still feeling rubbish though! Sad

Redken24 · 19/12/2018 20:16

Is it a sore throat or stuffy nose?
Vicks and jakemans throat sweets lol

newrubylane · 21/12/2018 09:29

Hot water with lemon and honey for a sore throat. Also, ginger tea can be quite good for sore throats too.

AlbaGirl8 · 23/12/2018 00:17

5tarlight · 24/12/2018 09:52

Same to you Albagirl8 and all the April ladies! 🎄 🎅 🥂 Trying to get all the prep/cooking/wrapping sorted but with more breaks than usual to save my poor swollen ankles! Merry Xmas and here's to a very exciting 2019! x

CathyBigBalls · 25/12/2018 21:19
