Hi all. Had my 16wk appointment with the midwife this morning, and my whooping cough jab. More bloods taken for iron and vitamin b12 (also iron-related) so I'm starting to feel a bit like a pin cushion. But otherwise all is well, and I got to hear heartbeats Smile She did say it was difficult to be certain that we'd heard both twins, but she quickly found heartbeats in two separate spots - left and right as they said at my scan - so I think it was both. Such a lovely moment.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 15/11/2018 13:43

Hi Redken24, due date buddy Smile

How lovely, to hear both heartbeats newrubylane.

newrubylane · 15/11/2018 18:27

It really was. It was so reassuring. I just mentioned to the OH how much calmer I felt, so now he's looking into buying a doppler so we can do it ourselves - such a typical him thing to do, it makes me smile!

italianwifey · 15/11/2018 20:57

ahhh congrats @newrubylane, its nice isnt it!
@hanny24 thanks, maybe ill give one of those a go - sounds a bit scary haha but to be honest im willing to give anything a try if it helps!!

Hi all, i last time i wrote was in the previous thread over a month ago. I was just thinking that Black Friday might be an excellent occasion (and a good excuse to start stocking up on baby stuff (especially the more expensive items: car seat, pram, cot...). Can anyone recommend any shop (online or high street)? Completely new to babies so i don't know were to start. Is a pram even necessary if i want to carry the baby in a sling around my chest? (i suppose you'll get tired after a while, i don't know).

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 16/11/2018 07:04

Ro84 I bought most of my Baby bits from JL but there are sites like Kiddicare, mothercare. There is a pram sure I’ve forgotten.
The modern nursery & Me & Buddy are both nice independents .

Redken24 · 16/11/2018 07:48

This is our second so just using our mama n papas travel system. It had loads of miles on it but looking forward to pushing a much lighter load 😂 2dd is a big girl lol.

@FrazzyAndFrumpled

How are you keeping?

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 16/11/2018 08:07

I’m ok, thanks Redken24 Smile I just feel so tired, exhausted, like I haven’t slept for weeks. Hopefully some rest over the weekend will help.

How are you, and everyone else? It’s Friday Smile

SPR1107 · 16/11/2018 16:37

Two year olds and pregnancy... who thought of that combination!

How's everyone feeling? We're on the countdown to 20 weeks, so many times during this pregnancy we didn't think we would make it to that point, we're now one week away, and I finally feel positive!

MigMog · 16/11/2018 20:18

I'm 18.5 and feel like I'm falling to bits.

Had a chest infection. That cleared. Got medication for thrush yesterday.

Today my asthma has played up all day. So got an out of hours and it's a viral thing. Before i head to my out of hours I pop to the loo and the tissue comes away pink.

I've not had any spotting yet. And I'm so close to the 20weeks and it's made me a bit panicked. My theory it's from the pessary I used last night. But I'm still anxious.

Going to ring my MAU when I get home to ask for advice.

SPR1107 · 16/11/2018 20:54

@MigMog it more than likely is from that, everything is still so sensitive there.

I've bled more than I haven't so far during this pregnancy. To the point it was running down my legs and I couldn't control it, covered my bed sheets and my pyjamas, and I had to wear pads every day until last week... and everything is still fine.

Best to get checked of course, but I bet, and hope, that it's nothing to worry about.

I've been sick this whole way through, went to the doctors on Monday because I couldn't even keep water down, and I have a liver condition which means it's bad to get dehydrated (I'm not a total sick note honestly Hmm), and it turned out I had tonsillitis, borderline Quincy, they said it had been laying dormant for weeks... caused by being sick, but now the poison was at such a point, it was causing me to be sick. I've been on antibiotics since Monday and haven't been sick once... never would have guessed that to be the cause!

MigMog · 16/11/2018 20:58

That's rubbish @SPR1107 . Sounds like you've had a rough time.

Midwife wasn't concerned and as soon as I said I'd had a pessary the day before she was convinced that was why. So as usual, more blood, a different colour or pain and I would have to ring back up.

I'm rhesus blood so I'm waiting a call back as I might need to go back for an other anti d.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 17/11/2018 08:25

MigMog and SPR1107, sounds like you’ve both had a rough time of it Sad I hope the bleeding stops and isn’t anything at all to worry about. Take care Flowers

Ro84 · 17/11/2018 08:52

@MiggMogg that seems to be the pessary (i had some before getting pregnant and they sometimes came out that colour the day after). A couple of weeks ago the toilet tissue was pinky-red after wiping and i had cramps (like from my uterus) the night before. i rang my GP she asked me to leave a urine sample and turns out i had an UTI! Don't worry but get it checked just in case! They

MigMog · 17/11/2018 14:26

midwife seemed convinced it was from the pessary, but because of my blood type I've got to get the anti d. So on the way now.

Hoping that she'll check baby over so we get a sneaky peak or listen.

notasnowploughoratiger · 18/11/2018 09:11

Morning all, anyone else getting inpatient for movements?

I am 18 weeks on Monday and really want that reassurance of movement...I think I have had a few bubbles & pops you could put down to movement but anxiety is creeping up and desperate for movement.

20 week scan two weeks away, fingers crossed it happens soon!

MigMog · 18/11/2018 10:05

I'm 19 tomorrow. Nothing yet, but there's been a couple of times where I think maybe I felt something. Nothing I can be certain of.

We were in mau last night for an anti d. My OH cheekly asked before we left if we could hear it's heart beat. So we got reassurance. Scans in just less than 2 weeks. Can't wait.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 18/11/2018 10:18

Glad you got some reassurance, MigMog. The anti-D injection is horrible, isn’t it?

How is everyone feeling today? I’m still struggling to clear this cold - still full of congestion in my head/nose/ears and a sore throat.

Treaclepie19 · 18/11/2018 11:40

Hi all. Glad you got some reassurance MigMog!
19w tomorrow here too and we're having the cvs or amnio tomorrow so I'm very nervous.
I also managed to bump my head on a metal sign outside the pub yesterday when we went for lunch so feeling very fed up.

No movements here either but my placenta is anterior. I'll be glad when I can feel him!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 19/11/2018 09:25

Good luck today Treaclepie19, I’m keeping my fingers firmly crossed for good news.

How is everyone today? It’s a new week! Smile

newrubylane · 19/11/2018 09:52

I've started getting movement over the weekend (17wks), but only at bedtime at the moment. I think perhaps it's just not that noticeable when I'm moving around during the day.

italianwifey · 19/11/2018 18:44

@notasnowploughoratiger I cannot wait to feel some proper movements! I'm sure i'm feeling something, but I cant say 100pc its baby and no kicks or anything! I could have sworn I felt what felt like the briefest tickle from inside yesterday?? Literally like someone tickling me inside my belly, but then nothing! I've got an anterior placenta too, and 19 + 3

Shk38 · 19/11/2018 18:49

@notasnowploughoratiger @italianwifey
I'm at 21 weeks today. I think I started flutters at 15 and full on movements from about 19. Hubby felt baby move for the first time at 20+5 and then this morning I saw my belly move!

I tend to feel the baby move most when I'm still and lying down although it has started moving more at work. It's very exciting but totally weird!

Rosalind22 · 20/11/2018 09:18

Hi all - had a bit of a disaster this morning. I was meant to go on a course for work in London. Unfortunately trains make me really ill. I normally take a sickness tablet to help
Me but couldn't due to baby. Consequently I was sick twice and then passed out on the train. I am being picked up and am okay but do I need to be checked by the midwife due to passing out? I ask as normally when a person passes out you don't go to hospital or anything you just rest if that makes sense?

Footymum81 · 20/11/2018 09:37

@Rosalind22 do you have a contact number you can give the midwife a call on, explain what happened and get advice as to whether you need to see someone? I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but if it was me I’d want to get that reassurance from a professional. Hope you’re feeling better soon
