@powkin PS I barely have a sex drive atm but don’t mind. Easier said than done but try to go with the flow. You might feel differently in a week!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 25/10/2018 20:08

I wish I didn’t have a sex drive tbh.. I think the myth is a man that can keep up 😂

I’m actually looking forward to afterwards when I go off it and maybe I won’t feel so hard done by 🙈🙈

Notquiteagandt · 25/10/2018 20:30

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking

Snap! Only I am single so its like torture!

I am unsure if it is because I am single I dont know. (Although how randomers would know this I dont know!)

But is anyone else finding they are getting a lot more male attention? It is the strangest thing. Appears its not as much of a niche as I perhaps nievly thought.

It is not welcome attention as men are the last thing on my mind atm. I am certainly not dating or interested in men whilst pregnant.

twiglet · 25/10/2018 20:51

@powkin don't worry I have absolutely no drive either between tiredness which still hasn't left at 25 weeks.... Pain from pgp and now heartburn to add to the list the last thing I feel like doing is rumpy pumpy!

DH has been amazing though and prefers giving me cuddles 😘

Your definately not alone with it or feeling frustrated etc

Yakadee · 25/10/2018 21:08

I'm the total opposite. Have absolutely 0 sex drive! My poor DH. I wish I could have a little, if anything just so I don't feel like I'm punishing him lol. He's really attracted to me still so I think deep down he'll crying 😩

welshweasel · 25/10/2018 22:35

I’m really up for sex but have reached the stage where DH has got weird about squashing the baby so only wants to do it in weird positions that I find uncomfortable so the last few attempts have been aborted! Same happened in my first pregnancy - don’t think we had sex from end of second trimester until about 6 weeks post birth!

Lulabell1 · 25/10/2018 22:57

I was adviced to not take maternity leave past 36weeks due to previous problems in pregnancy, prem baby and demanding job. Also dont feel i would cope i work till 9/10pm 2/3 times a week I then have to drive 10 minutes to get DD and then drive home and carry her from the car as shes asleep where DP is on nights/24hour shifts until baby is here so no way would I be able to do that. Im absolutely massive think due to being 5ft2 I look even bigger but my god iv just poped over night!

Buying wise we have everything but thats me with my OCD and controlling personalitity.

emalady · 26/10/2018 06:45

I still have a fair amount of sex drive but I'm so tired that I'm ending up asleep before DH is ready to be propositioned! It's frustrating but mainly my fault.

I keep thinking we have most stuff then realising there is so much more to get. I'm getting some kit and kin biodegradable nappies and wipes for the early days but not sure when to actually buy them. I guess once the nursery is sorted and we have a place to put them!

I'm handing in my matB1 today. Very exciting. Things are getting more real!

Leonora94 · 26/10/2018 08:10

I’m in the 0 sex drive club as well. I am trying and so is DH but just can’t get over the extra little person In the middle makes us both un easy, plus I seem to keep having thrush on/off at the moment as well. It’s getting to me though and I feel really rubbish about it, and terrified that it will never come back!

Yakadee · 26/10/2018 08:40

@Leonora94 - glad I'm not alone! Things defo improved after having my first so I'm sure they will. These hormones have a lot to answer for x

Leonora94 · 26/10/2018 08:51

@Yakadee glad to hear it does come back, I love sex and normally have a really high sex drive so this has been a really odd experience, have felt like something’s broken. Just need to throw it on to the ever growing pile of weird pregnancy related stuff I suppose 😂

Yakadee · 26/10/2018 09:00

I'd say I'm a few steps down from you but I'm not a nun! Lol. I think a baby brings you closer (Even if you were great before) and it's different (for me personally). X

DragonFlew · 26/10/2018 17:46

@emalady I am also planning on the kit nappies - after seeing a recommendation on here!
I handed in my matb1 on Tuesday- hoping to hear back soon as I plan to take 4 week annual leave beforehand so will be leaving at xmas! Can't wait to start counting down.

On another note our house move has been pushed back from 1st December to 1st February so I am panicking!! Especially as I am planning a homebirth!

welshweasel · 26/10/2018 17:58

Do check what happens to nappies in your area before forking out on biodegradable ones. In many areas (mine included) they are incinerated rather than put in landfill so it’s a waste to get anything other than cheap Aldi ones!!

Surprisedmom · 26/10/2018 18:59

A bit random but to anyone under/at the age of 30 on this thread, the 25-30 railcard should be out by the end of this year and saves you a 1/3 on rail fares. Also if you’re in London you can attach it to your oyster and save on off-peak fares. I figure that as people on Mat leave we all want to be saving money where possible.

emalady · 26/10/2018 20:08

@welshweasel so they sort through the domestic waste collection to take out the nappies? That seems mad! How /where did you find out what they do locally. I always assumed they only incinerate the ones in public nappy bins.

@dragonflew that sounds pretty stressful, what's your due date? Good luck with the move and the home birth. Do you have to have a midwife check your home first? Are you staying in the same area or will you be swapping midwives?

Yakadee · 26/10/2018 20:09

What a day! Haven't felt baby moving much this afternoon and just couldn't shake the feeling of worry! Called maternity assessment and went in. Thankfully, baby is perfect! Talk about worry - so relieved she's OK!!! Hope everyone is OK today x

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 26/10/2018 20:13

What a day!

Like DD, I've still be suffering with sickness. Yesterday it was 14 hours constantly!!

Finally been diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. Anyone else been diagnosed with this and what are your remedies?

I was given some tablets, but the doctor said that they don't know how they affect the baby so I'm really reluctant to take them!

AliceRR · 26/10/2018 20:14

@Yakadee It’s stressful isn’t it? I keep worrying about movements but trying to just relax and see how it goes and hopefully will work out what her pattern is in coming weeks

Have felt a few strong movements today though

DragonFlew · 26/10/2018 20:30

@emalady no the midwives don't have to come and check your home before a homebirth I had one with DS2 and they just come round at 36weeks to go through it all with you and give you a delivery pack so you are ready for the day!
My due date is 25th but DS1 was 3 weeks early and DS2 was 2 weeks early so I am pretty nervous I could be giving birth amongst a host of moving boxes! I will have to keep my baby bag handy just incase!

welshweasel · 26/10/2018 20:31

@emalady round here if you use nappies you request a separate yellow bag, which you put your nappies in. It’s better for the environment (slightly!) to incinerate than put in landfill so if it’s something your council offer then you should.

Notquiteagandt · 26/10/2018 20:32

@Thesnobbymiddleclassone

Unfortiantly me. You poor thing wouldnt wish it on my worse enemy. I have been pretty much bed/hospital bound since 6w pregnant.

Pregnancy sickness suport are invallible suggest you give them a call. Hyperemesis board on here is also great help.

Medication saved my life I honnestly feel. Severe dehydration is so dangerous. Its worth weighing up the pros and cons. But for me it was a no brainer. I had to medicate. What have you been perscribed?

I am now on a mixture of cortisteroids, ondansetron and metoclopramide.

Finally back to my prepregnancy weight and down to only about 3 or 4 times a day being sick so the end is in sight. I promise you with meds it can/will get better.

If you are unsure still look at the rcog guidelines for management of hyperemesis.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 26/10/2018 20:52

@Notquiteagandt same, wouldn't wish it on anyone!

I've been prescribed prochlorperazine.

Notquiteagandt · 26/10/2018 21:17

@thesnobbymiddleclassone just do as much research as you can. There's so many options. Took me about ten attempts to get my meds right, so many options/combos etc you can take.

I got given prochooperazine in hospital it took the edge off along side fluids but it knocked me out and gave me facial muscle spasms. But others swear by it. Just give it a go see how you get on but know not only option if need be.

Reccomend some ketosticks too. Unsure how strict your hospital is for admissions but my local is pretty strict in ketone levels for IV and admissions. So helps to keep an eye on them myself.

Fingers crossed you sort a treatment plan that works for you and you have some fluffy weeks ahead.

Yakadee · 26/10/2018 21:19

Thanks @AliceRR - it really is worrying isn't it! She's kicking away now - why couldn't she have done this earlier! Little monkey! The staff were really lovely, I feel so much better xx
