It must have been lovely to be with someone at that time klaw! Glad everything went well!!

Yes it's me! I was just trying loads of cartoon character names and this one worked. I was really excited!

dogtanian · 15/06/2007 22:50

Night bumper and daisy! I'll just sit here on my own ! Maybe I'll go to bed too xx

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 22:50

Sorry DG, forgot to respond to your reply earlier. I thought you might pronounce it like that and it's lovely and I love he spelling too. Does he have red hair?

I wonder if my LO will have any hair? The boys didn't for ages and ages (just like their dad!).

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 22:54

I'm still here - mumsnetter of many name changes. Might go to bed soon though, no sign of DH coming home and NO BLOODY REPLY to my text. Does that mean he hasn't got it or can't be arsed? What if I was in labour? twunt. He doesn't even like his bloody job so why does he spend so much extra time there? If the bastard customers are eating now they deserve to have worse indigestion than every innocent pregnant woman in the world put together.-ish.

Bloody Fridays.

I could ring him and scare his pants off...

My DH could just turn up for work one day and get sacked (we've been there many times), there doesn't have to be a valid reason. He is hanging on to the prospect of PL for grim death and can't wait. Just don't think 2 weeks will be enough...

Hope all you P-Ners have good nights with your LOs. Labour vibes to the rest of us, except foxy of course who will no doubt be enjoying blissful undisturbed sleep in a whole bed (unless of course you can't sleep cos you can't hear DCs snoring etc.)

Have a good weekend everyone - I AM NOT gong to spend all weekend here. Honest.

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 23:13

Even if I do need to practise -
a) putting in smiley faces so my comments don't read back as offensive
b)typing, so I actually put what I mean instead of another word entirely that isn't relevant

Night all

TALLULAHBELLE · 16/06/2007 03:03

Sorry DG just read your last msg. Thanks, good advice. Tricky when your a first-timer to have the confidence to go against hosp/midwife advice. Had a good greet tonight about it all, just not happening the way I wanted, felt it was all being taken away from me, though m/w's all been lovely, not pressurising, just saying what they recommend.
Anyway reason am up at unearthly hour catching up on earlier is that am having contraction like pains -I think- and have started losing more fluid so think things are beginning to go off of their own accord. May still need some intervention to get this wee one out but at least now I feel like maybe the time is right whereas before thought they were charging in all guns blazing just cos I was a week over edd.
Sorry - another long post.

daisyboo · 16/06/2007 07:09

Morning Tallulah....how exciting! hope things have kicked off for you and you are busy off having your LO.

I wasn't up through the night, as Em splept from 12:30 until 5:00 this morning. DH took her downstairs to settle her after her feed, and fell asleep on the sofa with her curled up on his chest and that was them. I also got about 3/4 of an hour from 11: - 11:45, so feel fantastically well rested this morning, if a bit milky as my boobs had leaked all over me in the night.....nice!!
So, I'm up with the DCs and have given DH a well earned lie-in!

Holly...are you keeping the new name then?...you do realise that we will all shorten it to dog don't you?

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 07:13

OH FFS

I slept for 7 hours and woke up at 5am, STILL contracting every 6 minutes.

WTF is going on? Is this normal?

MysticRedRanger · 16/06/2007 07:17

Morning DG......

....just trying out my new name...it's Daisyboo btw....

Unfortnately this is perfectly normal. Things will start moving soon, just be glad that this is a slow burner as I'm sure once things get going properly you might find you are pleasantly surprised at how far dilated you are. Just keep focussed on the fact that these contractions are doing the groundwork and getting your body prepared. Get bouncing on that ball and let gravity do its work!

MysticRedRanger · 16/06/2007 07:20

So... what think you all of the new moniker?

You can all call me mystic for short, since I know you all so well

I know there is a PinkRanger....I hope she isn't offended!

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 07:22

Hi Daisy! Ooh sorry - RedRanger!
Oh good - Every 6 minutes since 2pm yesterday. I don't mind a slow burner tbh, I could sleep ok (with the help of paracetamol), I can just get on with life as normal, I am just beginning to feel like these are just bhs or I am imagining it or something.
The usual morning blues.

I am happy that something is happening, even if they are just bhs, but at 41+6 I am so OVER this!!

Going to go to the supermarket in a bit, a useful distraction. I am tired.

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 07:24

Hello mystic!
Will be weird calling you that instead of Daisy. I think I will pick up Holly's new name much faster

You must be pleased you had a good sleep, how are ytou feeling today?

MysticRedRanger · 16/06/2007 07:26

It's mystic to you

Try to stay positive.....at this rate, even if nothing happens today and you go in for an induction tomorrow, it'll probably only take one dose of prostin to kick things off good and proper.

It really won't be long now...try to keep body and soul together!

MysticRedRanger · 16/06/2007 07:27

x-post. I'm good. Might even venture out today....I'm getting cabin fever!

pinguthepenguin · 16/06/2007 07:29

Morning ladies

Been awake since 5.30am, although god knows why, It's not like I'm in in labour or anything interesting!!
TA- you lucky thing, I'm sure this must be it for you! fingers crossed you have yours today- I'm sure you will!

It's weird you know, since I had my sweep yesterday, anything that even slightly pointed towards me being close to labour has buggered off- the pains, tightnings, losing the mucus plug (I had been for a day or 2 before then, sorry tmi! {blush}). Bizzarely the only thing that has changed is the baby is now moving loads more. In fact s/he was going nuts last night, whereas they had been been worringly quiet for a few days.

I wonder if having the damn sweep has upset the balance in some way?

Odd.

daisyboo · 16/06/2007 07:29

bugger....there is already a mystic...it's a bloody minefield this name business!

daisyboo · 16/06/2007 07:32

Pingu...baby moving is good though....he/she will be putting pressure on your cervix and remeber it can take up to 48 hours for a sweep to have an effect!

This final haul really is the worst bit isn't it?, but you won't be pregnant forever...baby has to come out at some point!

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 07:36

Morning Pingu!
I hope this is it too. I am amazed I slept through it all! After I had my sweep nothing happened until literally about 24hrs after so there is still time for things to kick off for you.

I am bored of these regular pains though, 17 hours of no change?! GRRRR

But yes as Daisy said, at least things are happpening, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

pinguthepenguin · 16/06/2007 07:41

TA- I bet you'll practically fully dilate at home or something, then get to the hozzy with only an hour to push or something equally marvellous..... you'll see

trendaverter · 16/06/2007 07:45

Pingu I wish you were right but knowing my luck by tonight I will get bored, call the hospital and they'll say bugger off, only 2 cm dilated, come back tomorrow to be induced like a good girl.

And I won't because I don't want to, I want expectant management!

daisyboo · 16/06/2007 07:50

You do the right thing TA....if your body haas already started the process, albeit a wee bit slower than the medical profession would like, then there is no need for an induction.

I know they need to set out protocols and benchmarks etc, but as they don't know exactly what happens physiologically with the whole labour process, and given that all women labour differently and that each birth can be very different, it seems pointless to have those benchmarks at all.

Relax and rest up today though....you may need all your energy for a nighttime labour and delivery.
