Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Spent all day at hosp mostly waiting around. Anyway, they couldn't see any fluid & would have said my waters hadn't broken except I had managed to capture a sample last night which they were sure was amniotic fluid. Confused? I was!

M/w had feel of tummy - baby only 3/5 & now in OP (back to back).

Just when thought couldn't get any worse m/w did internal. Cervix not only completely closed but virtually unreachable as somewhere behind baby's head instead of in front. Apparently means very long protracted process to get cervix to move to front before will even start to dilate.

Upshot of all this is I have to go back tomorrow- to labour ward for augmentation - so straight onto drip to start contractions despite unripe cervix.

Haven't heard of this happening before - anyone got experience?

Sorry very long post. Going to have cuppa, choccies and catch up on this afternoon's action on MN.

annobal · 15/06/2007 17:24

It's quite nice here Daisy. T & G were running around at nursery with their shirts off (take after their father, obviously ).

DG, huge congratulations. I love the name.

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 17:26

Isn't it strange when there's no one to shout at Ria?

I just 'popped out' to post my dad's fathers day card. I didn't have to nag to get shoes on, explain 'no scooters', fold DD into a buggy, negotiate who was going to press the button at the traffic lights x 4 or who find 2 other letters that needed posting so they all got to do one.

I just picked up my keys, walked out the door, posted the letter and came back.

You have no idea how bizarre it felt!!!

annobal · 15/06/2007 17:26

TB. What a shitty day. I don't know anything about this but DG might be able to help. Are there any other alternatives?

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 17:29

Sorry for your crap day Tullulah, and no experience. It doesn't seem to make any sense. Could it be your hindwaters you caught?

It doesn't sound to me like your baby is ready to come. Do you feel that they are forcing things along?

Can you get a second opinion?

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 17:30

How about starting a thread on this? It just doesn't sound right. There must be someone on MN who can be more help.

annobal · 15/06/2007 17:31

How many weeks are you now TB?

doggus · 15/06/2007 17:49

Poor tallulah. I am a first-timer so don't know what it all means but it sounds shite.

Is anyone here NOT having a crap day? I am in such a bad mood, dh treading on eggshells.

Annobal - TK Maxx is the business. Also take a look at their bags and luggage.

Foxy and Ria - I love horse-racing. I became a bit of a groupie before I got married and did lots of hanging out with the jockies (though none of yer actual shagging). Bear in mind I am 5' 8''...

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 17:50

LOL at the Towering Groupie image in my head!

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 17:55

My second ever visit to a betting shop was the Grand National 2 days before DS1 was born. Think DH won a few quid on a jockey he was at school with too. Now mine wasn't the only belly of that shape in there, but I think it was the only one with a baby in it!

I would have quite liked to be in a horsey set. Instead I was a "Young Farmer" (and then moved on to bikers... where did it all go wrong?) - beer rather than champagne! I couldn't have done any jockey shagging either - for the same reasons!

foxybrown · 15/06/2007 17:59

oh those 'Young Farmers' had quite a reputation I'm led to believe

annobal · 15/06/2007 18:00

Can you explain 'Young Farmer' to a clueless antipodean?

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 18:01

Tallulah I am certainly no expert but it doesn't sound right to me. I second Foxy - get a second opinion. What you have experienced doesn't sound right according to everything I have read - of course I could be wrong but if neither of you are in distress I would certainly consider other options.

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 18:03

Not really. Children of farming-involved families between 11-25 have "meetings" with guest speakers and minutes and everything, and debating competitions etc, but that's the boring bit (bit like the WI?). More interesting are the dinner dances and parties and "county rallies" which involved a lot of pissing about and alcohol and rolling in hay. They have car stickers which say "young farmers do it in their wellies". Taught me a thing or two about life!!!

Basically they said that since waters broken & no contractions started they advise induction within 48 hours (due to increased risk of infection). Were happy to leave me till Sunday but didn't think the extra time would make any difference cos cervix so unfavourable. Got the impression that could wait forever but nothing going to happen by itself. Am 41 weeks today and showing no signs of anything progressing.

annobal · 15/06/2007 18:21

Ah, I understand - a bit like a bachelors and spinsters ball (the fun part, that is). They involved a huge concentration of 'utes', djs (as in black tie) with RM Williams boots, a marquee in the middle of a paddock and A LOT of alcohol.

annobal · 15/06/2007 18:22

Last post for Ria ...

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 18:25

Sounds similar annobal. I forgot about the ploughing matches and fence-erecting competitions (and people think there's nothing to do in the country!)

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO bored.

annobal · 15/06/2007 18:28

DH has just gotten home and has gone downstairs to cook dinner for T&G - they've been watching Toy Story since we got home - it is now 6.30 and they still haven't eaten They're usually in bed by 7!! I am a bad mother

TALLULAHBELLE · 15/06/2007 18:30

LOL Annobal - you just brought back some memories. I went to B&S ball in Quorn - had to get all dressed up to hang out in a field full of kangaroo poo. Thought the ball was an experience until I attended the recovery next day. Talk about FERAL. Had VB & Bundy poured all over my head and had to leave when all the blokes started ripping each other's jocks off!

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 18:32

It's Friday. It doesn't matter! The only time my two are in bed by 7 is when they have been so naughty I can't bear to look at them any longer.

I am currently putting off bedtime til as late as I can in case anything starts before they get to sleep, then we still have time to get them to the GPs to sleepover instead of having granny here where there is nowhere for her to sleep.

Phoenix · 15/06/2007 18:36

Just on quick to let you know that trace2's baby chloe was sent to the hospital this morning as she was very jaundice and sleepy. I've just had a text to say they are keeping her in overnight cos her levels are high.

riabutterflew · 15/06/2007 18:39

poor trace2 & chloe. Hope it all turns out ok.
