Lol TA! Hopefully the more snot that comes out the sooner that baby of yours will show up!

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 11:50

Hello BZ! How's life on the other side?

TALLULAHBELLE · 15/06/2007 11:55

No time to read the thread but gather from quick skim that congrats due to DG & that TA still keeping us waiting.

I started leaking bit of fluid last night. But no contractions. Been to see m/w this morning & she is sending me up to the hosp now. Said is likely that will keep me in & good chance that will have to bring my induction forward. So Kittykitt keep your phone on.

Sorry T/A - wish I wasn't queue jumping- still hoping they won't have to induce but not much chance now.

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 11:57

Good luck Tallulah!
Hope all goes well, do keep us posted!

And stop worrying about queue jumping, not your fault my body is stubborn

Hope all goes well and you meet your LO soon without too much fuss xx

TALLULAHBELLE · 15/06/2007 12:00

Sorry missed Auntymandy - congrats to you too.

Thanks T/A - my body stubborn too otherwise wouldn't need bloody induction!!!!!Either that or baby just really lazy - like its parents

bumperlicious · 15/06/2007 12:01

HI all, just when to the pharmacy and they wouldn't give me a pessary for my bacterial friends coz I am pg. Said I should go to my dr. So went to lovely Neal's Yard instead and got some calendular cream, calendular tea and some of that Callusophyllm (or what it is) for labour. Foxy or annobal, you seem to know a bit about this homeopathy malarky, how do I use it? (the callo whatsit that, not the creams etc. I can make a pretty good guess about what I've got to do with those!)

Anyway, DH been for a computer exam this morning and is off today and tomorrow, so going to try and steer clear of the computer so we can enjoy what is likely to be our last weekend alone together. I may pop in to check if any babies have arrived but if I'm not around for a couple of days don't get excited!

Daisy, don't worry, you are on DH's text list!

Foxy, have a lovely weekend to yourself. Try and take it easy.

Thinking strong labour thoughts for you TA, good luck.

And hi to all the post natal girlies - sorry we are taking so long, hope you are having a lovely time with all your babies!

Btw, any news from Trace2? - hope her LO is ok.

Morning ladies

Congrats to DG! wow! I'm jealous, and to be on here posting already....well done x

I feel for you TA, honestly, try to hang in there, elephant snot is a good thing!

I'm heading to be midwife now ( you know, just 'dropping into the clinic at some point as advised') to demand a sweep with the largest yard brush they can find. Wish me luck!

x

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 12:12

Good luck pingu, thinking of you - I hope it's successful! (and not too painful!)

lulumama · 15/06/2007 12:34

hang on in there all you birthing ladies..xx

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 12:37

lulu what are the risks waiting beyond 42 weeks?

lulumama · 15/06/2007 12:39

erm......i'm not 100 % sure what the stats are, but can find them for you....expectant management is a good way to try to pick up on problems...some women do need to be pregnant for 42 weeks, if not a wee bit longer.....42 weeks is still within the norm...

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 12:41

I want to wait and hold out for a natural birth but don't want to put me/LO in any danger. as long as expectant management is likely to pick up any problems I am happy to wait but I don't want to be foolhardy either!

lulumama · 15/06/2007 12:45

sometimes, with the best will in the world, and extra scans etc...things go wrong..i think a lot comes down to how you feel about going to 42 weeks and beyond.....will try to find those stats..

hollyandalice · 15/06/2007 12:46

Foxy if you are still here where did you get your Caulophyllum from? I can't find any. I know it is called blue cohosh as well, but I can only find black cohosh, which apparently is different.

Are you going in for a check up soon TA?

lulumama · 15/06/2007 12:47

Just to put the risks into some sort of context in case you don't already know - the risk of stillbirth at 42 weeks is 1 in 1000, rising to 1 in 500 at 43 weeks, so although the risk has doubled it is still quite low in absolute terms.

With regards to meconium that other people have mentioned below. As I understand it, meconium staining in a post dates pregnancy is a rather different issue from that in a term pregnancy. The presence of meconium can indicate that the baby is in distress, and this distress can also prompt a gasp reflex in the baby causing the meconium to be inhaled, which can be very dangerous.

In a postdates pregnancy the baby may empty its bowels just because they are full rather than because it is in distress and this in itself is less likely to cause problems than if it is because the baby is in distress.

It is a really difficult decision to make, all the best with it.

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 12:50

Thanks lulu.
I have a checkup at the hospital on Sunday (actually when I am supposed to be induced but I daresay I will be given a once over while I'm there).

Hopefully things will kick off before then but I really am losing heart.

BadZelda · 15/06/2007 13:01

Things going well here - HV came to do a check and pronounced all is good: Matilda has decided she's done enough sleeping and is now hungry, so my slight concerns have been laid to rest. Now got major cabin fever so I'm off down to Marks' to stock up on munchies as I'm hungry ALL the time. Poor DH has been doing lots of cooking but can't keep up with my appetite. Did catch Ella trying to feed Matilda some cheese earlier (!) so better keep an eye on that.

justbeme · 15/06/2007 13:10

Glad to hear all is well BZ.
Good luck Tallulabelle (sp?) at the hospital.

God Im knackered - if that wasnt one big nesting fit then I dont know what was!!!
How do 2 people and a dog make so much mess in a house?? Lord knows what it'll be like when Lo arrives!!

Lunch time - is it really 24hrs since I last here and ate a sausage roll?? The fridge beckons....

BadZelda · 15/06/2007 13:27

I'm in shock
Just managed to get jeans on! That DEFINITELY didn't happen with DD1!

hollyandalice · 15/06/2007 13:34

God I hate you BZ !!

hollyandalice · 15/06/2007 13:37

OMG, first timers, don't read madeindevon's birth announcement! Scary shit!

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 13:39

you KNOW that is going to make us read it

hollyandalice · 15/06/2007 13:41

Sorry!!

doggus · 15/06/2007 13:44

Running in here on the way to Starbucks (craving for Coffee Frappuccino) - many many congrats to DG and AuntyMandy. DG - you were mailing on here til the last minute - well done!

Good luck Tallullah and BZ, I am so jealous. I know it's going to be years before I get in my (size 14) pre-pg jeans.

trendaverter · 15/06/2007 13:44

I am kind of having irregular contractions (just for a change ) and I am not hungry which is weird for me.

Baby hardly moved all day. Getting weary of all this now...thinking of going down the caster oil route!
