Sorry ladies I've just flicked through the last few pages as too many to read through (sorry I've also namechanged!!) in regards to the car seats this has changed loads since I had my other children. We are looking at getting the Maxi Cosi isize pebble plus with isofix base - is this a good one? The lady in John Lewis said it would fit our car, she explained the difference in testing between the isize and normal seats so said even getting the cheaper isize one would be better than the normal pebble but for the sake of £30 we will get the pebble plus.

Also are the footmuffs for the car seats okay? I know people saying about baby over heating, but I am thinking to have it open in car whilst heating is on but then do it up for short trips like school run to save moving baby once out the car! I know all the straps etc go through the footmuff so believe they are safe to use?

Alicejj8x · 10/10/2018 14:39

Yeah defo little angels range is so good

Yes to Aldi! And yes to Costco we will be buying the water wipes in bulk nearer to Feb saves so much :)

welshweasel · 10/10/2018 14:48

Yes the pebble plus is a great seat.

Wames90 · 10/10/2018 14:52

@powkin I am with you on this!! I think I might actually need to buy a “babies for dummies” book 😩😩

Since2016 · 10/10/2018 15:05

Oh that’s FAB re water wipes I love aldi!

@powkin please don’t stress! I made a list for a friend of things I needed / found useful that I know has been sent to others so I’m happy to send you if you’d like one as a starting point x

Celebelly · 10/10/2018 15:17

I'm hoping the baby box from Scottish Government will have some stuff I haven't even thought of!

Since2016 · 10/10/2018 15:22

Oh and also on a formula note - a friend told me that aptamil has changed its formula - her new baby has had an awful reaction to it so she has switched to Hiipp organic. Just for anyone who was planning on using it!

lanalawr · 10/10/2018 16:34

@Since2016 yes I can honestly say that I've never put dd in the car seat in more than a jumper. I realise I'm possibly in the minority though. I would also never wear a coat in the car as I find it uncomfortable and restrictive so that may have something to do with it too.

lanalawr · 10/10/2018 16:43

@welshweasel I don't think I'd be able to keep on top of the washing with cloth! I've toyed with the idea now that dd is older (2) but still unsure. I use cheeky wipes for wiping hands and faces after meals but didn't get on with them for nappies. I found them too thick but I know they've introduced thinner washable wipes now. I've got a few friends who loved them for nappy changes though.

Baby160P · 10/10/2018 18:20

@Since2016 the same has happened to my nephew. His tummy was so poorly xx

Since2016 · 10/10/2018 19:38

Have educated DH - he’s not keen but I’m converted re car and coats thanks all.

@baby160p awful! Just thought I’d share for anyone planning to use it!

Lulabell1 · 10/10/2018 20:05

Well i live opposite my hospital iv made the joke to SIL saying i will walk myself there in labour if my DP is on a nightshiftGrin

We have ordered buggy we was going to wait until jan sales but went into kingston mothercare and got managers special Icandy peach in Olive with maxi cosi carseat and adaptors for £580 they are normally about 900 but they are discontinuing the colour!

Defo keep a look out for manager buys in big stores they are bargains same way we got our bugaboo with DD.

I just remember coming home from hospital last time and i never slept the whole night dd was a asleep but i sat up watching her chest move to check she was breathing kept touching her i was obsessed!

Lulabell1 · 10/10/2018 20:09

Also want the isofix base as my car comes with isofix sockets but my friend said i can have hers as she has just had baby 3 weeks ago and she doesnt use it do love liking things other people dont especially when its free ha.

welshweasel · 10/10/2018 20:13

Good bargain @lulabell1 - I loved my peach and sold it on for £350 when I was done with it so they do keep their value well.

The Aldi formula is essentially the old aptamil recipe - I had heard lots of people having problems with the new one. We used cow and gate once I stopped BF last time, one of the cheaper ones and had no issues.

anothermnname · 10/10/2018 20:29

Ah @Lulabell1 you must live near us as Kingston is also our local mothercare! I went in at the weekend I saw a red bugaboo cam but no peaches left on sale! The Olive is such a gorgeous colour too!! We are looking at getting one of the new peaches but I am not 100% as the fabric doesn't seem as nice (beluga with phantom frame) but been looking at the midnight one and also the truffle and they seem to be on offer around £780 without the car seats so you got a real bargain! What car seat was included?

AutumnLee12 · 10/10/2018 20:50

I also got my pram from mothercare Kingston, managers special! Seems to be a trend haha! Went for the bugaboo chameleon in navy!

twiglet · 11/10/2018 04:37

Feeling pretty rubbish since receiving the flu jab (and still in the stupid o clock club....) how long does it take to stop your arm aching?

Re cloth nappies we have looked at them it's something that we want to try but not for the first few weeks.
I do have a small craft person on faffbook who makes baby clothes specifically to fit them though so I think it's possible to find stuff to fit just has to be online.

Wames90 · 11/10/2018 07:27

@twiglet my arm ached for a couple of days after having the flu jab but I find if you keep moving your arm about then the heaviness goes quicker. I hope you’re not suffering for too much longer.

fizzledays · 11/10/2018 07:28

Does anyone else have horribly dry/cracked hands and fingers? My skin is splitting a bit in a couple of places it's so dry. I drink loads, using hand held overnight to try and help...not sure what to do!

fizzledays · 11/10/2018 07:28

Hand gels*

emalady · 11/10/2018 07:28

I think we are going to use kit and kin nappies so at least they are biodegradable, I'm keen to move on to cloth but I think not for the first few weeks, and probably would keep disposables for days out etc.
I'm really excited about looking at prams etc again today. Hopefully they still have a great deal on the silver cross we like.
Did someone say there is a car seat that can lie flat in the car? We are going to use the silver Cross seat that comes with the travel system and isofix base but considering a second car seat for longer journeys. Though mum is only 3 hours away so probably would be ok with a break half way.

lanalawr · 11/10/2018 07:55

@fizzledays sorry to hear about your hands. It's horrible! I don't have it at the moment but used to in an old job and after I had dd (all the hand washing). The only thing I found that helped was time and using cream at every chance I got. If it was stingy then e45 wasn't as bad as others.

I've only bought one thing for the baby so far - a second hand tuppence and crumble star blanket. I need to go through dd's old clothes soon to see what we need. If this is a boy we'll need lots after the first month but I'll have to cross that bridge in Feb.

Yakadee · 11/10/2018 08:32

Morning Everyone, busy day yesterday so catching up.

I have only bought one thing for baby so far (a little pink onsie) but have looked through all my sons old stuff and have kept a huge bag full - think we're sorted for the first few months (although doubt I'll be able to resist!).

Thankfully also already have pram, cot and carseat.

@fizzledays - I have had really hands (and bottom of my left leg? But always have that!) but thankfully not cracked. I bet that's really sore, I feel for you. I second E45.

Xx

fizzledays · 11/10/2018 08:59

@lanalawr @Yakadee thanks both I'll invest in some E45 💗

Yakadee · 11/10/2018 09:09

@fizzledays - sounds daft but make sure you dry your hands properly. I've noticed when I'm rushing and don't properly dry my hands it's worse x
