Just like @Thesnobbymiddleclassone I have a name picked but am keeping it to myself and immediate family, who all liked it (though they would just have to suck it up if they didn’t). I’ve been calling him it for weeks now and can’t see myself changing my mind.

AliceRR · 07/10/2018 22:22

@Alicejj8x Aurora was no 1 on my list too (and to shorten to Rory / Rorie) and we are having a girl 👧🏻

I wanted Aurora James (James is DH name)

although I’m still thinking about names as DH isn’t as keen as I am and he said he’s heard of a few baby Auroras recently so not sure 🤔

bubblybrit · 08/10/2018 08:29

@Alicejj8x. Congrats on your baby girl. Loving another edition to team pink 💕💕!! X

fizzledays · 08/10/2018 08:43

We're having a girl, and thinking the name Raven ... very unusual and no idea where we got it from, but every time we talk about names that one feels unbeatable!

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/10/2018 09:26

We have two names to choose from (technically three but I really don't think we'll use the third!). I've only told two close friends though, I don't like to tell people what names we've got as I find people often have something to say and it can put you off a name! Finding it hard to choose between the two so will just keep both on the list. It's hard with a second of the same sex as you've obviously used your number 1 name already! It was easy with DS1.

lanalawr · 08/10/2018 11:49

We think we've got names sorted. DH isn't massively keen on the boys name but can't think of one he prefers. We've decided against the boys name we had for DD this time. Got a girls name too but I think the middle name may change. We won't tell anyone other than immediate family before the baby is born though (and even then we plan to wait a day or two to make sure the name suits the baby).

Celebelly · 08/10/2018 11:56

We have not a clue! We should probably sit down at some point and discuss names... otherwise she's just going to be called Thing for the first few weeks of her life (that's her current name Grin )

Since2016 · 08/10/2018 12:36

We have a few but can’t quite agree yet. My DD has an unusual Irish name so will continue with that - I’m personally not keen on ‘popular’ names so that’s always a factor (ironically her name is fairly popular in Ireland but not here) and DH keeps suggesting ones I don’t like! Nightmare. We’ll be keeping it between us until she is born.

Since2016 · 08/10/2018 12:38

And agree @lookingforadvice123 and they have to ‘go’ with the older child! I have another name I loved for DD but DH won’t go for it... yet. We’d happily agreed the boys name!

Alicejj8x · 08/10/2018 13:49

Ahh I don't blame you keeping it to yourself if we hadn't told our families the names we liked ages ago we would
Of kept it a secret too :)

Don't know if any of you have heard of PatPat clothing website. They do the most gorgeous stuff for girls and boys. Just ordered this 😍😍😍

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
Alicejj8x · 08/10/2018 13:50

@AliceRR
Ahh that's so crazy you had Aurora picked out too 😍😍😍😍

Ahh did he! I haven't known anyone to have that name around me lol it's crazy thou isn't it xx

Wames90 · 08/10/2018 14:07

Hey everyone, I’m having a bit of an unreasonable panic (probably because of a weird dream about it last night) about baby sleeping when here.

What do people use for them to sleep under/ in when they’re newborn? I’ve seen those grobags about but are they used from newborn? This is my first baby and I’ve just realised I don’t have a clue about anything! 😂😩.

Since2016 · 08/10/2018 14:10

Gro bags fine if they’re at the right weight at birth. They have a minimum weight. Alternatively use a swaddle or cellular blankets till they’re heavy enough for a gro bag - much easier imo as you don’t have to take them out of it!

Alicejj8x · 08/10/2018 14:36

@Wames90 yes growbags and snooze bags are what we have xx

Lulabell1 · 08/10/2018 15:23

Ralphie is our name Ralph for short! My daughter was Lilah until the day she was born and then we decided Isla so it could change but its the only name we have agreed on

AliceRR · 08/10/2018 17:31

@Wames90 As someone else said there is a minimum weight for gro bags (think it is 7 or 9lb) but I also heard (in mams and papas event at the weekend!) they are not advised if you are using a next2me or snuzpod type thing as there is too much fabric for the small space 🤔

AliceRR · 08/10/2018 17:32

@Alicejj8x Yes I do love the name though. I don’t know anyone with that name either but will be looking at the popular names lists as I don’t want anything that loads of girls have

I love the name Alice actually but have a niece called Alice

welshweasel · 08/10/2018 18:14

We used grosnugs for the first few weeks (essentially tiny grobags but can have the arms in or out) then moved to gro bags after that and have only just stopped using them at 2.5 years!

Planning to use next to me with sleepyhead in plus grosnug (will get some secondhand as you only need for a few weeks) this time round.

Alicejj8x · 08/10/2018 18:25

@AliceRR

Yes it's lovely isn't it 💕
Yeh that's what we wanted a name that not many people have but it's so hard.

Yes Alice is lovely name but maybe I'm biased lol. Yes google is good for picking up names. We had a huge list for boys

Alicejj8x · 08/10/2018 18:25

@welshweasel
Yes we have a next to me crib and a sleepy head tooo :)

lanalawr · 08/10/2018 18:31

@Wames90 grobags are fine but have a minimum weight. Your baby is likely to look tiny in it at first too (dd did). When dd was born we used a cellular blanket at first and wrapped her in that (we didn't swaddle, just wrapped, and she always got her arms out). That was in the summer though. I'm struggling to get my head around this winter baby malarkey too - I'm not used to it!

@AliceRR interesting about the next to me and grobag advice. We used both together last time. I found that when dd had a lot of excess fabric at the bottom of the bag she wasn't strong enough to flip it up with her feet and it wouldn't have reached her face anyway. Babies shouldn't be able to sink under their grobags either because the neck opening would be too small for their head to get into.

@welshweasel ooh I'll have to look up grosnugs.

maxiflump1 · 08/10/2018 18:37

I've just bought the hungry caterpillar grow bag from Sainsbury's and it says it can be used once baby weighs 8lb 13oz. DS was 8 12 when born and we used them from about 2 weeks old. Just used cellular blankets before that

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 08/10/2018 18:39

I never used the bags. Just used blankets!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 08/10/2018 18:47

@fizzledays wouldn’t you have heard Raven from this?

We’ve got a shortlist of names, which we’ll keep quiet.. but I won’t settle on one till I’ve met my baby, I can’t name someone I’ve not even met yet 😂

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 08/10/2018 18:48

My babies have always liked to be swaddled at first, I’ve then moved onto sleeping bags once they were a bit older..
