I keep waiting for it to be enjoyable, it hasn't been so bad it's put me off more though. I would really love to have a week or so not feeling exhausted before I'm massive and Christmas etc kicks in.

hayley013 · 06/10/2018 21:31

This might sound weird but does anyone else feel like something is stuck up their nose on a night? Almost every night I get it and only been since I've been pregnant, v annoying xx

Yakadee · 06/10/2018 21:34

@hayley013 - like it's blocked? I had congestion in my first pregnancy and felt really stuffy the whole way, especially at night! Xx

Wames90 · 06/10/2018 21:47

@hayley013 I’ve felt so congested at night and my poor husband has said that I’ve been snoring ridiculously loud since falling pregnant. I went to the pharmacy last week and asked if there was anything that I could try and they said sterimar nasal spray is safe in pregnancy and I feel so much more comfortable and less bunged up at night since using it. (I think my husbands pleased the snoring has stopped too 😂).

AliceRR · 06/10/2018 22:04

I have the congestion at night and I was so tired in the first trimester and I probably complain a lot to DH and people close to me about pregnancy related things but I am also the happiest I have ever been. I think that’s because I’m having a baby - if that means I love mean pregnant than I suppose I do! The first trimester was difficult but I’ve already l almost forgotten it and it is worth it of course. They say the second trimester is the easiest so we’ll so how I feel I’m tri 3!

Yakadee · 06/10/2018 22:24

@AliceRR - I honestly didn't mind the 3rd tri - I was surprised as expected to really struggle. I'm hoping it's the same this time. It was only really the last few weeks that I felt fed up and that was mainly because I wanted to meet my baby! X

Cheery1 · 06/10/2018 22:58

Just catching up, sort of, missed loads in a crazy few weeks with DH starting new job and freelance work for me!

@hayley013 I had the congestion really badly when I was pregnant with DS1. Nasal strips helped a bit. It was summer time so I don’t think that helped - I get hay fever and I think some allergies are worse in pregnancy, antihistamine knocks me out so I try to avoid anyway. Blinking annoying though. It did come and go so you may find it eases off xx

Baby160P · 07/10/2018 01:53

My bedtime routine is vics on he chest and 4head on the head! Bad congestion here.

hayley013 · 07/10/2018 07:39

I wouldn't say congested, can breathe fine, no stuffiness, just an odd feeling that I need to blow my nose, but it must be related if it's so common to have random congestion, thanks ladies xx

costacoffeecup · 07/10/2018 08:29

@Notquiteagandt I've namechanged since I've been on here but just wanted to say I hear you. This is my second pregnancy after a very easy first one and I am struggling hugely. I've been told I have to have extra scans and consultant appointment due to hypertension which isn't helpful to my anxiety which is through the roof. Work is 12 hours a day at the moment and I'm struggling to cope. Have a lot of fluid discharge which the midwife thinks is more likely thrush or BV infection than amniotic fluid leak and suggested I go to GP tomorrow for a swab but I've got to go to work as have an important course so will have to wait til Tuesday. And three year old has been ill this week and in my bed so had to take dependents leave for a day last week, worried I'm going to lose my job if I have more time off. But then again just feel like going to GP and seeing if they'll sign me off for a week so I can get my head together!

Pregnancy sucks!

costacoffeecup · 07/10/2018 08:30

Sorry for rant!

emalady · 07/10/2018 08:35

@costacoffeecup if you really aren't coping and your anxiety is going through the roof getting signed off might be very sensible. Especially if you can't actually concentrate /do your job properly.
I went out for coffee with someone from my pregnancy yoga class and I'm really excited about having my first IRL "mum friend", feel like a bit of a looser for getting excited though.

Notquiteagandt · 07/10/2018 10:00

@costacoffeecup anixity sucks. It maybe worthwhile getting signed off just to ease some of the pressure. Theres no shame.

Ironically mine has gone since being pregnant. But my mw agknowledged as I have been so ill & suffered with it in past. Thst it put me high risk for pnd. So reffered me to the antinatal mental health team. Ive not had to see them nor feel the need/want to. But means ive already jumped through 1st hoop should I need them. Deffo worth an ask and speaking to your mw about it Flowers

I also got bv in v.v.v early pregnancy aparently its super common as your body temp and blood flow changes. Id never heard of it before tbh. But it was easily treated with a pessary. So worth going drs.

costacoffeecup · 07/10/2018 13:30

Ironically I went to the doctor about my anxiety and found out I was pregnancy about an hour after the appointment! I suffered very badly with intrusive thoughts/ocd last pregnancy but physically was fine, this time I'm a mess physically but not had the ocd thoughts yet, just general anxiety. Can't wait for it to be over. Realistically I know I'm going to get up and go to work but will try and call doctor a bit later in the day to see if I can go in later on the week.

Lulabell1 · 07/10/2018 17:51

@costacoffeecup I see the midwife every 4 weeks she specialist in mental health, it really helps to talk to her as if suffered with anxiety and OCD for 3 years or so now. I have refered from getting signed off as sometimes it really helps to concentrate on work!

Can i just say this is a first i never new you could choose to have a Csection? Not that i want one but never new!

I am not enjoying pregnancy I feel like a waddling fat pie and iv had so many cysts that have got infected newest one being on the crease of my foot so painful!!

Due Feb 2019 - we’re halfway!
Yakadee · 07/10/2018 18:01

@Lulabell1 - ouch, that does look painful! Poor you 😩

I really do want a section (based on first pregnancy) and although they can't refuse you they do apparently try and talk you out of it. I have my appointment in Nov and can't wait! Just want to know where I stand and what I'm doing x

Since2016 · 07/10/2018 18:25

@lulabell1 you can ‘choose’ but the Trust you’ve chosen can (and some do) say no. Eg. A famous London trust now gives out ‘we don’t do c section on maternal request) leaflets at booking. It depends if they think your reasons are valid (and how high their elective section rates are - they try to keep them low). I’m also electing for a section based on my previous labour - I had an EMCS and while it’s not guaranteed the Midwife has told me it’ll be my choice given last time and I won’t have to fight for it (Mine was a bit of a horror story). People so quote nice guidelines a lot and it’s worrhwhile noting that they’re guidance and not mandatory. It’s best Practice but not in line with how trusts are performance managed so it’s a hard balance! Hopefully @yakadee and anyone else who is awaiting their consultant appt won’t have an issue though!

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 07/10/2018 18:27

I wanted an elective section with DD and couldn't find a consultant that agreed and to be fair, it was unnecessary.

Yakadee · 07/10/2018 19:14

@Since2016 - thanks, I know it depends on where you are. My sister had a section with my niece and (Don't mean this awful, her words not mine) she has nowhere near as much reason as I do (like you, horror story last birth). We're in the same town so same hospital so I hope that's promising.

I just wish it was Nov already so I know where I stand xx

Also - I have another bloody cold!!!! I can't believe I have another cold!! Feeling very sorry for myself!

AliceRR · 07/10/2018 19:58

@Yakadee That’s good to know. It does occur to me 3rd tri may be much like 2nd but I can imagine being impatient towards the end so I’m already thinking about mat leave etc to avoid too much time doing nothing if I can...

On another note is it just me or is the sleepy feeling one can get after a big meal so more intense while pregnant?? I definitely feel full quickly but also so tired. Maybe I’m just full and tired 😬

Surprisedmom · 07/10/2018 20:15

I had my 20 week scan today at 21 weeks and my little boy is doing great. The lady doing the scan said he was a real poser and as predicted he’s long legged (95th percentile) so he’s going to be tall. I’m really relieved everything measured normally and got a cute picture too.

Alicejj8x · 07/10/2018 20:16

What's your names for your little babies?

We've had our gender reveal this weekend and we're team pink. We've always loved the name Aurora so we're very happy we are able to call little bean that 😍🎀

Yakadee · 07/10/2018 20:53

Aww congrats on scans!

I'm torn with our little one, the name we've both agreed on so far is Emma. It's really hard naming someone! X

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 07/10/2018 21:14

We've got a girls and boys name sorted, just need tomorrow to find out what it is.

We won't tell anyone though, just as we did with DD. It's our little thing xx

twiglet · 07/10/2018 21:40

We still haven't settled on a name yet have a short list but just going to wait and see what he looks like.

Managed to pick up a few baby bits in the mothercare sale today including a cute whale blanket!

We were supposed to go to a jack and Jill sale but turned up and the que was over 100 m long in the rain so did a u turn in the car!
