Hi everyone, just thought id let you know I have jumped the queue by a week

It all happened soooooo quckly! Waters broke at 7pm last night while i was getting dd ready for bed. MWs came over later (was booked for a home birth) but left at 9.30pm after checking me over - a few twinges but nothing major. so thought i ought to finally get round to packing hospital bag just in case by 10.30 we were calling the mws back again, and by the time they arrived at 11.15 (i foolishly had told them not to rush!) I was ready to push!!! 25 mins later, a beautiful baby girl popped out (7lb 6oz)! no time for gas and air or anything, just 2 paracetamol taken earlier!

As Dp put it, "if Carlsberg did labour...."

Feel great but knackerered. No name definite as yet.... still mulling a few over.

She is delicious though - cant stop sniffing her peach-fuzz little head!

Will post more soon, but better get some kip.

DD is delighted with her little brother (as she keeps calling her )

Mousemole - I have only just seen your note about Harry coming into this world by VBAC. That is fantastic, and I am now holding on to that hope that I can do it too. You are probably all consumed with baby Harry now (as it should be!) but if you do log on and get the chance, could you tell me which position he was born in or did he turn at the last minute? A very big congratulations

Bodkin, what lovely news on your new peachy baby girl-keep sniffing! I hope you find a name soon for her.

Thanks firststar, I haven't invested in a ball but the hospital has one so I will get bouncing when the time comes. I've had quite a few niggles tonight, but all is now calm again so I'm going to pop back to bed now.

Dumbledorf · 11/07/2007 05:36

Congratulations, Bodkin! fab inspirational homebirth story!!

In the wide awake club again, mooching round the house, faffing about.

I have read somewhere that feeling fluey is a pre labour sign.

Glad other people have sore bumps (iykwim, but am also hoping that tit doesn't mean a 10lb baby!! The mw predicted about 8lb last week when i saw her!

Jamantha · 11/07/2007 06:29

Congratulations Bodkin. Reading that makes me eant to pick DD up and stroke her little head too, but as I've sat here for ages this morning getting her to sleep and just got her settled in her basket again, I'd better not!

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 07:20

Congratulations Bodking well done.

Chrissybobs- I had a VBAC last time and ds was OP. He was OP all during labour then turned about an hour before he was born.

Whos next ladies..

Congrats Bodkin!! Wow! Another painkiller free quick birth. If Im anyhing like my last 2, this labour will be slow and painful. Never had an epidural before - what do you all think of those? ANyone experienced one?

Ive been having constant period cramps since last night - its so uncomforable. No tightenings though atm. Also feel like crying with frustration at not being able to do stuff. Cant WAIT to get my body back.

Chrissybobs · 11/07/2007 08:59

Oooo, thanks for that info twoplusone-even more hope now.

Whomping willow- I have had an epidural but I'm afraid I can't remember much about it.It does block all the pain out though and they keep it topped up. I asked for one after they put me on the hormone drip to speed things up(pitocin?)The midwife I spoke with said she can count on one hand how many people can survive without an epidural after the drip, so avoid at all costs if possible.

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 09:02

whomping- Hopefully could mean things are kicking off for you. I had an epidural last time, but the machine failed and only administered one dose, so was no use really. I have seen the anethiatist (spelling capability gone!!) and booked one for this time just in case. they do a lot of homeopathic pain relief here so will be trying that.. Still dreading not been able to have Gand A as I relied on that totally last time.

Had a medium curry last night, (I dont eat spicy food) tmi alert have had alot of bowel movement this morning.. My nips are really sore today aswell, did some tweaking last night, had a few stong tightenings.
Have dropped ds off at creche andknow I should sit and relax but I cant for some reason, just need to keep going.. I will regret it later when he gets in and I cant sit and relax

Hope everyone is feeling well.. Any knews on divaskychick she was going for tests at the hospital yesterday (I think ) hope everything is ok.x

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 09:04

Chrissybob- I should add though that my vbac was 7yrs8months after the c-section.. Not sure if that makes a difference, but obviously scar was very old.

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 11/07/2007 09:08

2plus - my scar is only 17 months - do you think that makes a difference in vbac success?

Not keen on epidural, just wondering. Too much gas and air makes me sick, and pethedine makes the baby dopey when it first arrives. Love to try 2 paracetamol, but I doubt it.

Myfairone · 11/07/2007 09:11

Bodkin, wonderful news on your new arrival! And huge congratulations on delivering on two paracetamols! I am so that you managed an earlier than due date birth too!

Twoplusone - Try and take it easy! I spent Monday in a cleaning frenzy and really paid for it yesterday.

Firststar - My tum feels rock like most of the time now too. Its like one big BH!

Well sleep evaded me yet again last night! Pain in my back and weight of my bump just made it impossible.

Is it okay if I state officially today that I HAVE HAD ENOUGH? Dont mean to be a whiner and incredibly excited but....want it now!!!!!

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 09:12

whomping- to be honest I really dont know if it does make a difference.
I do know there is a new drug out called meptid, that they can give dureing labour instead of pethadine, and it doesnt cross the placenta, therefore doesnt make the babs drowsey.

I have asked for Voltrol and if that doesnt work the meptid, but we are in germany, not sure if the y would offer voltrol in the uK as pain relief in labour.. I had it after my c-section and didnt need morphine with it, so it is good sh*t. But it does go up the back passage.

Catz · 11/07/2007 09:14

Hi everyone. Sorry, I've not posted or a while but I've been reading all your posts and trying to keep up with everyone. Congrats to Bodkin (sounds like a fantastic birth) and all those who've had their LOs recently.

Welcome Chrissybobs, I see you're due today too glad to have a 'bump buddie' at last! Anything more after last night's niggles?

I think I had a 'show' this morning (it's my due date, 1st baby). I know it might still be a long time away but is quite exciting to know that something may be happening - I'd started to feel that I'd just got some condition called 'pregnancy' and I'd be like this for the rest of my life! DH has just gone off to work which is probably sensible but I'm feeling slightly nervous!

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 09:16

Myfairone- I am not doing alot just plodding, hanging washing out and putting more int he machine.. will leave the ironing for later..
house is ok at the mo.. until little man gets back from creche..lol..

You are allowed to officially want the baby out NOW.. because I do.. I keep telling him he is being evicted, but he isnt listning to me.

Miaou · 11/07/2007 09:16

Dewmeadow, I had an epidural for both dd1 and dd2's births - however this was 10 years ago and protocol (where I live now anyway) is not to offer them quite as routinely as they used to. They both worked well for me but I had no urge to push (had to be told when to push) and of course I was stuck on a bed with drips coming out everywhere. dd1 had to be delivered by ventouse which may have been a result of my ineffective pushing though not definite. Although I was happy with the way they both went at the time, I think ds's birth (in a pool and therefore more active) was better both for him and me. I wouldn't have an epidural again, though my experience wasn't a negative one. HTH!

And congratulations to Bodkin - well done!!

twoplusone · 11/07/2007 09:18

Ohh Catz lets hope you have a due date baby, sending you lots of positive vibes..

How exciting.. and lol at your condition called pregnancy!!

keep us posted on how things are going.. xx

I'm still here. Drinking Raspberry Leaf tea like it is going out of fashion.

Everytime I log on I see someone else has had their baby. I know one day it will be my turn but it seems so long off. I know Splodge can't stay in there much longer but apart from the niggly stomach aches there are no signs of anything happening.
Suppose I should use the time to decorate the house and tidy up but it is hard work with a 4 yr old. As quick as I tidy DD messes up. DP has decided to finish the bathroom now. He started it in January. Am due in a little over 2 weeks. Nursery STILL NOT DONE. But Splodge won't be in there till nearer Christmas anyway.
My moan of the day is my MIL again. This may sound selfish but it is the way I am feeling. Since starting Mat Leave on Monday she has ferried me everywhere and keeps offering to help me tidy the house. I know she is only trying to help and I could use a hand but it annoys me when she re-arranges what she had planned to chaffeur me about.
Her SIL was admitted to hospital last week and I mentioned that DD had a party to go to so she looked all confused as if I was expecting her to give me a lift to the party when she was going to visit her SIL. I told her that I would walk to the party and she should go and see her SIL as plannned but she said "No" she could fit it all in. So she dropped DD at the party then took me to the midwife appt and back to the party.
The woman is 73. She lost her husband in January and should be getting on with finding herself and doing as she wants as her husband was ill for a very long time and was very demanding.
I think she should be visiting as many friends as she can. That is the reason we went to Holyhead in May. She hadn't seen her family in 12 years as she thought her husband couldn't cope if she left him for the day.
I want her to do as she wants to do and not put things off for me. DD school is only a 10 minute walk away. I can walk it without problem. MIL needs to have a few lie's in. Not be getting up at 7am to take me and DD to school when I can go on my own.
I sound like a spoilt brat don't I. I just want MIL to relax for a while and stop trying to look after me. She needs to look after herself. How do I politley tell her I can manage.

catstar · 11/07/2007 10:25

Does anyone know what I have done with my car key?? DH and I have just turned the house upside looking for it (the only one with an alarm demobiliser of course) and it's nowhere to be seen. Am now starting to panic as am 2 days overdue and have been having mild twinges . It's no problem getting to hospital as we can get a taxi, but how would I get LO home? Of course I had been practising with the car seat and it's locked in the car.... Thankfully I took my hospital bag back out.

Good luck Catz - hope you get a due date baby!

Jennster - I NEED a cookie right now!

Congrats Bodkin - another inspirational birth story!

Good luck everyone else .

typhoonsmum · 11/07/2007 10:26

MMM cookies. Driving instructor has forgotten me. (Eats cookie to cheer self up)

Caroline1852 · 11/07/2007 10:36

Dewmeadow - can very much emptathise with the feelings of wanting to cry with frustration at being able to do almost nothing.
I am agog at all these birth stories, a couple of paracetamol seems to be a recurring theme . Well done all of you. And good luck to anyone about to head down the labour road..... or elective c-section road. I go in on Monday for my elective c-section. I can't wait to meet my new baby and get my body back to myself. At the moment I get up every night and have to move around for an hour or two.... and then looking after my DD (20 months) during the day means I can't catch up on sleep, every night I am hopeful that this will be the night I sleep right through but the more tired I am the worse the sleep. Sorry to moan!

Hello all- congrats to yet more July babies! Things are really gathering speed now!

So, last night was VERY uncomfy all evening and really tired so went to bed about 9.30pm. Had the worlds most restless, painful and uncomfortable nights sleep and must have gone for a loo about 10 times. This morning I feel very periody- achy, hot, uncomfy and sick. Aches and cramps are constant thought. Also (sorry for TMI) been to the loo about 3 times already. Movements of baby seem to have slowed down (although have felt them so not worried.) Could this be things starting??!! I blooming hope so! Not due til next week but really ready today (its the first day I've actually been impatient about it!)

Hope everyone is well and not too uncomfy or fed up.

Xx
