I wish my nesting would start soon (so does my poor DH!!)
Good on you all who are actually cleaning. Me, I might go and have a nap...

Congratulations MelissaM and welcome to Evelyn Grace. I hope hope all these relatively drug free births bode well for the rest of us.
Has anyone had an epidural yet? (Except for those who've had a CS obviously.)

Firststar, no I decided to be nice to my friends and didn't play up the twinges too much. The discussions I was having with the other pregnant girl were scary enough for them anyway

I hadn't realised Friday was the 13th, I won't mind (so long as it's still an easy labour) it's a common date for birthdays in my family so I've never really thought it unlucky.

tiggsy · 09/07/2007 16:00

just had friend round with her two year old boy... he's spent the last few hours chasing my poor pussy cats all over the flat. one's now hiding under the bed, the others on top of the wardrobe. don't know how they'll cope with a live in baby!!
vegged for a while earlier, then put up new shower curtains and cleaned the bathroom. now wondering from room to room deciding on what to do next when all i really want to do is sleep. is this nesting???
she pointed out that after mw appt next week i'll only be pregnant for another 4 days. i'm really going to miss my bump

weepiglet2 · 09/07/2007 16:01

what a lot has happened over the last few days! Congrats to all the new mums and welcome to all the babes.

Some hard acts to follow!

bilblio · 09/07/2007 16:34

Tiggsy I'm having the same worries about my cats. One of them is very docile, loves being stroked and petted and when he's had enough he wanders off. On the odd occasion there's been kids around he's been exactly the same.

The other cat also loves being stroked, but when he gets bored he starts play fighting. He's very sociable with adults, but seems scared of kids (I think the height things confuses him, he's not very bright.) He tries to run away from them, but if they follow him to stroke him he's been known to swipe at them.

I'm hoping the cats will get used to the baby as it's growing up, and we'll be able to teach the LO about how to treat the cats so they don't get scratched.

Mine are both male, so I've not noticed them being more clingy (no more than normal) but over the course of my pregnancy they've discovered my bump is a very comfy place to sit.
On quite a few occasions they've been sat on my belly, purring away, and LO has started kicking. The cats haven't taken too kindly to this, and the look of disgust they've given me before stalking off to sleep somewhere less violent has been classic.

tiggsy · 09/07/2007 17:34

bilblio - had exactly the same with my two, i've tried warning them that bumps kicks but they don't listen and persevere... hiccups are the best, one of my cats keeps getting brutally kicked or gets the movement from the hiccups whenever she sits on me. the looks i get could easily kill!! very disdainful.
i also have a stupid one, seems very confused by the cot, car seat etc so god knows whats going to happen once theres a screaming child in residence. mine are both youngish so like you i'm hoping we'll all get used to it together!
already had to turf stupid out of cot, bath and car seat, doesn't seem to realise they're not for her

Myfairone · 09/07/2007 17:43

I'm glad to hear that cat owners have the same concerns as dog owners! My little man (my dog) has been my baby for 7 years and I'm concerned that my new LO will put his nose out of joint. Any tips greatly appreciated.

I have noticed that he has taken to following me around everywhere but will no longer sit near me. He seems to favour my DH now which is a new thing for him!

Firststar, glad to see you are still around. Was worrying that you were going to leave me all alone till the end of the month!

Big hugs to all..Im exhausted after a day of 'nesting'...really not sure it was necessary to use bleach in the car but at least I know its clean now!

mousemole · 09/07/2007 17:44

Hello everyone and congratulations on all the new arrivals.
Just to let you know baby Harry arrived 2nd July weighing 8lbs 3 oz. After all the opinions that he was in the wrong position to deliver naturally I managed a VBAC with the help of an epidural and ventouse.
I am thrilled to have experienced natural childbirth after a section with DS1. Only downside was the episiotomy and more tearing but the rubber ring is helping ! Good luck to everyone who is still patiently waiting.

tiggsy · 09/07/2007 17:50

myfairone - i work in the pet industry and the best advice is the same as they give for older children. include them in everything, fuss them and try not to be too protective of baby when first introducing them. very few people i have spoken to have had problems with babies and dogs, as long as you try and treat the animals the same as you did before. also something new, like a toy or treat for when you arrive home, and keep some special treats to hand for visitors to give to your dog when they come round

emmyb · 09/07/2007 18:21

Well I was an hour after March bunny!!
James Owen was born at 00.49 on 8/7
At a .........wait for it............ whopping 10lb 8.5oz!!! What can i say I grow them well!!
Labour and birth fine a much better experience than last time midwife was amazing. So was I even if i do say so myself. Came home today at lunch and all is still well.

Congrats to everyone else who has pushed one out!!

Myfairone · 09/07/2007 19:10

Emmyb - I just realised I am sitting with my mouth open in shock at the weight of your baby! WOW! Well done you! Congratulations...wonderful to hear that all is well and that you had a good experience. Enjoy having James home and make sure you take it easy!

Mousemole - Huge congratulations to you too in getting your VBAC. Sorry to hear that your on a ring but well done! Hope you feel better soon.

Tiggsy - That is great advice, thank you so much. I do worry about him because he has always been the baby. I shall take your advice and make sure I include him in everything. Thanks again.

Its all happening isnt it....so exciting.

Take care all.

Chooster · 09/07/2007 19:19

Congratualtions to the 3 new arrivals. Its so nice that marchbunny and cyee were so close having experienced a lot of the earlier pains together in the wee hours of the morning .

Off out for dinner now and babysitter has just turned up... DH said I can choose the venue and I've gone for one with the best chocolate milkshakes

swift1 · 09/07/2007 20:02

Havent been in touch for ages - had baby Tues 3rs at 9.45am . Good labour, at hospital at 6.30am, born at 9.55am. Did it on gas and air this time which I was pleased with. did request an epidural but by the time the doctor got there it was too late. I whacked the midwife at one point as I was so fed up of her poking me !!!

Breastfeeding going well, all fmaily happy. WIll keep in touch, congrats to all whove hatched and best of luck to those who havent - you can do it girls - it reall yis the best thing ever. xxx

twoplusone · 09/07/2007 20:24

Swift, Emmy, mousemole, congrats on the birth of your babies..
Emmy wow what a weight..

Have just got back from the hospital, I phoned mw earlier as I havent had much movement.. every thing is fine, I was on the ctg for 30 mins, then had a scan.. My placenta is inbetween my tummy and the baby therefore cusioning his movements. They did offer me to stay in as they said I looked exhausted. I have come home though, dh under instructions to take atleast tommorrow of work so I can relax.

Hope everyone else is ok. xx

Dumbledorf · 09/07/2007 20:25

More babies!! (like this should be a surprise!) Well done everyone!! Am I the only one a bit scared that i will be the only one on here soon? last woman standing!

Managed to get back to sleep this am, then actually do some of my planned day, but am absolutely knackered now.

Only just realised about the friday the 13th thing....will be keeping my legs crossed then!

Getting kicked to bits tonight, baby seems to have this new routine of sleeping all day then having a mad hour in the evening and just squirming around like a crazy thing!

Have done ok in the "pretending not to be so pregnant " thing today. Someone wrote on here a few days ago that hey thought they would shake hands with the baby when they went to the loo and I have been lmao at that all day - what a great and sooo accurate way to put it!

bilblio · 09/07/2007 21:20

Just been speaking to my Mum about Friday 13th babies, my brother was born on the 13th, a Tuesday, but she says everyone was avoiding that date so she got loads of attention from the Midwives.

Cyee · 09/07/2007 21:58

Hi all,
Well.. another July baby has arrived. Eva came this morning at 2am, weighing in at just under 7lbs. Her claim to fame is arriving via bungee cord (formerly known as an umbilical cord) while midwife was faffing around the delivery table (I was on all fours) . Labour was ok, I found the very last bit of dilation tough, which is when I had a wee shot of pethidine. Otherwise it was G&A and Tens all the way. I had hoped to just do it on G&A but really happy with my experience which is all you can ask for I guess.
Came home at lunchtime, she's a wee dote, as they say where I'm from. Really calm and alert. Feeding going ok, though she takes her time.
Now about to tuck into the champagne. Haven't read all the posts, but congrats to the new arrivals and hope everyone's doing well.
X

Princesspowersparkle · 10/07/2007 08:06

Cyee- CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Eva! (Fab name BTW). Well done!

Everyone has been busy. Well done to everyone who has had their baby, and welcome to all their little (or not so little!) bundles.

tiggsy · 10/07/2007 09:32

congrats cyee, eva's a lovely name
you're all dropping like flies now! they'll only be a handful of us left soon...

JennsterSlugSlayer · 10/07/2007 09:52

Congratulations to everybody I haven't congratulated yet.....

Just got my aromatherapy book out and found you can 'sweeten' your olive or almond or vegetable oil you are using for perineal massage, with Rose Maroc oil. (I used the blended rose oil from holland and barret last time though) You can only use the rose oil though one week before due date, before that just the carrier oil. The proportion is 1 drop, to 1 ml, so a 5 drops of oil to a 5ml medicine spoon and you could keep it in an egg cup with clingfilm or a tiny little jar.

Chrissybobs · 10/07/2007 09:54

Wow more babes have arrived everytime I log on-congratulations to you all. Scrummy names too.
You all seem to be doing very well with virtually zilch pain relief, I hope I don't let the side down.
Bilblio- very positive with Friday 13th and it's a load of old......anyway so don't worry ladies!

Thanks Firststar x

tiggsy · 10/07/2007 09:59

is anyone else having this problem?
you spend ten minutes getting comfy in bed, finally settle down then realise you need the loo and can't get comfy again?!
