Thought I'd get the new thread started as no one objected to my title suggestion

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 10:29

Sorry you are having such a crap time of it j20, when you are down everything else seems to jump on in with a kicking

{{hugs}}

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 10:31

Talk about embarrasment my DH has been drinking a lot more than usual as very stressed at work and he has put on weight too, thing is he is still lighter than me I'm 5ft 3 he is 5ft 11 and I still have 3 months to go

ejt1764 · 25/06/2007 10:33

just popping in to get courage before I start causing trouble with the midwife ...

j20 - big hugs ...your car may well be playing up because it is so wet ... get some WD40 and get somebody else to spray it liberally under the bonnet (at the spark plugs etc.)... I used to drive an ancient old astra, and it used to refuse to do anything if it got wet, but the wd40 chases away all the moisture.

Hope you are feeling better soon - if you can stomach it, try drinking orange juice / taking syrup of figs for the constipation....

big gentle pats to you ...

j20baby · 25/06/2007 10:38

lol at gentle pats

thanks, i feel like giving up today, and just sleeping! hate missing work, feel like i've let them down but saying that, i only get to keep £20 a week of my wages anyway because of my benefits, so sod 'em!

ejt - you go girl! don't take any grief from them oh and good luck/

i'm starving, might try my hand at a lemon drizzle cake and eat it all before dd comes home.

j20baby · 25/06/2007 10:39

oh and i think its the starter motor or the electrics with the car, god knows how i'm going to be able to sort that out

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 10:54

Hi bad mum back again... I've just settled ds in front of dvd (to watch on loop all day so i can snooze as sooo tired) with a doughnut so that should keep him quiet for a while! Supernanny would be mortified but has she been kicked all night with dsn2 and then have to face the day with 3 year old ds1?

Apricott · 25/06/2007 11:48

Morning everyone

Just managed to get through the weekend's posts. So sorry to hear of all the aches and pains and sickness and exhaustion. Pretty much reduded to tears once or twice by those of you who've been through the pain of losing LOs - am thinking of you all and keeping fingers firmly crossed that we're all going to be okay this time. And Alice - what dreadful shocking events in your family - am thinking of you too, and your poor sil.

All the later talk of Jaffa Cakes and the like has left me starving! Thank goodness it's nearly lunchtime.

Big hugs to everyone. Good luck with the scans.

A x

I have been to see the midwife - expecting it to be the one I didn't rate - and it was the one I saw at booking, who is lovely.

Long discussion ensued ... the upshot of it is that I am booked to see the consultant midwife who specialises in 'normality' - Su midwife I saw this morning) has worked with her with ladies like me before, and the outcome has been good!

She suggested that the MLU would be good for me, as there is a pool there, and with the spd and coccydinia, she feels that labouring in water would be very beneficial for me - which is another tick in the MLU box...

now feeling more positive, and ready to go for it ... I must admit that I was getting myself into a state about the whole giving birth thing, and was considering asking for a C section - which I know in my heart I don't really want!

love to everybody - good luck at scans today!

Mumpbump · 25/06/2007 12:56

Afternoon all! Quick post from me today. We stayed up watching The Green Mile last night until gone midnight so am absolutely whacked today and have no motivation to do any work either - NOT good. Had a doctor's appointment this morning and bubba is bang on size for dates, blood pressure fine so feeling quite happy with things at the moment...

Good luck with the scan FT! Has anyone else got scans in the next few weeks? I thought we were all scanned out!

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 12:59

I have a 3D scan on Saturday at 10am, can't wait, will put picks in profile afterwards

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 13:05

Can i just ask some advice?
I have seen my midwife once when i was booked in at 14 weeks (There was a cock up at the surgery and the doctor didn't actually write the word 'pregnant' on my notes so until i phoned up to ask, none of the midwives knew to arrange an app.)

She then said i didn't need to see her at 16 weeks as it was only 2 weeks since the booking in.

I am now going to see her on wed when I will be 21 + 2 (But scan dates say 23 +2)

Had blood tests 6 weeks ago and heard nothing as would have normally discussed this at 16 week app.

I am having another scan in 3 weeks due to baby being big for dates though.

Am i not seeing midwife enough?

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 13:08

I saw the midwife at booking in at 8 wks, then at 15 weeks to have blood tests for ds and spina bifida, then at 20 wks and again at 24wks, my next one is at 28wks for some more blood to be taken for iron levels I think she said

Mumpbump · 25/06/2007 13:08

Muppet - they don't want to see you anywhere near as much second time around. I had a 16 week appointment, then my 22 week scan, have just seen the GP and the next m/w appointment is at 28 weeks, so 13 weeks after my last one. Unless they have a reason to be concerned, they pretty much let you get on with it, it seems...

Mumpbump · 25/06/2007 13:09

BTW, if YOU are worried about the baby being big for dates, book yourself an appointment. I would! Even if you get told off, they're hardly going to refuse to see you/discuss your concerns, are they?

alicet · 25/06/2007 13:13

ejt thats a great outcome from your appointment! If they are going to support you in the mlu then tats fantastic. Good on you for sticking to your guns too and if she's documented it all in your notes then there should be no worries. Nice one.

J20 it doesn't rain it pours!!!!! No pun intended. Hope you manage to get your car fixed and hope too that the paracetamol settles things down for you - if not I gree with whoever it was that said to head right on in!

MrsFish very jealous of the 3D scan! We had one last time and it was fantastic. I want to do it again but dh says we should do something different this time. Can't suggest anything though so will have to work on him a bit harder....

Mumpbump glad docs appt went well! Good to hear some good news!

Well I'm feeling a little sorry for myself today. Dh was coming back on the train from bil's today but because of the terrible rain and now a power cable coming down there are no trains heading north out of london at the moment. So who knows when he will arrive? He was going to get here about 3 and we were going to go to soft play with ds which would have been lovely. Now he will be lucky to get here in time to see ds before he goes to sleep. I know its a pretty insignificant winge in the context of what everyone else is going through but I was really looking forward to seeing him. AND I wasn't sensible enough to buy chocolate before ds went off to sleep! Oh well - off to get some lunch and will be back later...

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 13:15

It's just my first ds was a big boy -9lb 1oz and i'm 5'2. 27 hrs of labour, ventouse, episiotomy, ripped anyway and my only concern at the booking in was that second baby's are bigger!!!
I was scanned last week and told the baby was too big for dates and I had a low lying placenta (which i asked for advice from you lovely ladies..!)
I know I'm panicking too much it's just i had pnd after ds1 which was quite bad and feel they don't take it seriously at all.

alicet · 25/06/2007 13:16

Muppet i have just seen her twice - about 8 weeks for booking in, then 16 weeks and not due to see her till 28 weeks. I agree with mump that as long as everything is straightforward they leave you alone this time. But if you are concerned and want more contact give them a shout.

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 13:16

Sorry, have just re-read that and realised i sound very neurotic!!

alicet · 25/06/2007 13:17

Just read your last post muppet - cross posted with you I think. Def call and get an appointment sooner. You're clearly worried and not without cause in view of your history. Even though there might not be much they can do practically I'm sure having the chance to discuss your concerns and have them taken seriously will do wonders for you.

Mumpbump · 25/06/2007 13:19

I guess the placenta can move a lot in the last trimester anyway. I asked the doctor to check on bubba's position this morning and he said that they didn't start monitoring it until 30 weeks plus and wouldn't actually start worrying until 36 weeks plus as they were still flipping around. Realistically, there is not much they can do about your baby's growth rate, but as you get closer to d-day, I'm sure their minds will become focused on what they need to do to help you have a less arduous labour...

alicet · 25/06/2007 13:21

If the baby is very big for dates one thing I know that can cause that is gestational diabetes (sure could just be one of those things too). So there's an 'in' to the midwife! Ask to be tested for that!

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 13:27

That's true! I'd forgotten that! Would that show up in blood tests that i've had?

Mumpbump · 25/06/2007 13:42

Don't know, but it should show up in urine tests. Doctor this morning said it was more of a concern in later pg than at our mid-way stage...

muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 13:47

I think i'm finding it harder as because of birth oif ds1 but also as i'm not working atm so this (apart from home/ds1) is all i have to think of. Last time i was teaching and was far to busy to even notice i was pregnant!
