I thought we still get annual leave even during our maternity leave. That's what I read online as technically we are still employed

Alicejj8x · 03/08/2018 13:13

@hayley013
Welcome
Back lol :)

Ahh ok I think it could of been due to me holding my wee now I've heard a lot of others saying that's what it could of been

Bluelagoon25 · 03/08/2018 13:19

I had my scan this morning, we are further along than we thought... 13.4 weeks with new date of 4th February 2019! 😍👶🏼

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/08/2018 13:38

I'm having really vivid dreams too and have done since I found out all those weeks ago, apparently a very common symptom!

I'm also waking up in the night and not able to get back to sleep for ages which is so annoying! I have no problems falling to sleep at the start of the night.

I'm 11 weeks on Sunday and my nausea has been getting better every day since about 9+5. Thank god! It's still bad in the late afternoon/evening, and I think eating a lot and being at work helps as we have air con and I'm not rushing round after DS. So not completely gone but definitely feel like it's on its way out.

12 week scan is 14th, a week Tuesday, woohoo! Finally feels like it's getting closer. Can't wait to tell people as I already have a bump this time round, DH said this morning "I can't believe people in work haven't guessed"!

Picklesandpies · 03/08/2018 13:43

@jeanzbeanz poor you, I do feel for you. Can you call doctors and ask if there is an alternative med for you to try? I know they say you may need to switch them several times to find the right one. Have you tried the Dale pots of jelly with a tiny bit of fruit in them? I have found them quite refreshing and probably not too bad 'in reverse'. x

DragonFlew · 03/08/2018 13:49

@BlueLagoon25 that's great! Congrats!

DragonFlew · 03/08/2018 13:50

@Lookingforadvice123 your pregnancy is exactly like mine! Same symptoms, same dates! It's quite funny reading your posts because I could've written them!
I haven't had a date for my scan yet - hoping it's not too far away. The second part of my booking should be on Sunday

UndercoverLauren · 03/08/2018 14:02

I've been have super crazy dreams for weeks now. I'm kind of enjoying them.

There's apps that remind you to do your pelvic floor exercises. I'm going to install one when I'm a bit further along.
Also later in pregnancy we're supposed to massage our perinium Blush

LookingAtTheStars89 · 03/08/2018 14:05

Downs/Edwards/Patau results back at 1 in 10,000 and considered low risk. Has anyone else had their results?

lanalawr · 03/08/2018 14:29

For pelvic floor exercises the nhs have an app called Squeezy. I used it last time and you can set reminders at whatever times you want them. I need to sort it out again and not ignore the reminders.

In terms of leave, I think you should accrue leave when you're on maternity. Where I work we accrue leave while we're off and don't have to use all our allowance before we leave (eg my leave year starts/ends in April but I won't have to take all of this years leave before I start maternity in Feb). The only thing they say is that you need to agree with your line manager when you will use the 'extra' leave you accrue when you're off. They usually like you to use it at the start or end of your mat leave although plenty of people I know used it to essentially work part time until their leave ran out (eg leave every Monday and Tuesday, work the other three days). Bonus is that you get full time pay without having to work it! Have a look on your works intranet or ask HR for the maternity leave and pay policy.

lanalawr · 03/08/2018 14:30

Great news @Bluelagoon25 and @LookingAtTheStars89!

hayley013 · 03/08/2018 14:42

What is he purpose of doing pelvic floor exercises other than bladder control? Sorry I just literally don't know. I had a slight tear with dd so will do absolutely anything to avoid that this time x

AliceRR · 03/08/2018 14:47

@UndercoverLauren 🙈🤣😂

DragonFlew · 03/08/2018 14:51

@hayley013 pregnancy destroys your pelvic floor! Not even the giving birth bit - even if you have a section your pelvic floor is seriously weakened by the extra weight in that area for so long.
PFE should be done pregnant or not, but it helps with bladder weakness after pregnancy and as we get older.

Massaging the perineum later In Pregnancy has been shown to sometimes reduce the severity of tearing - if at all. Because it helps the area stretch and become more supple.

twiglet · 03/08/2018 15:02

@Baby160P you accrue annual leave when you're off, in relation to this year's annual leave given it runs April to April it depends on your company roll over policy.
They can either roll it over to the next year, make you use it before maternity leave or some companies will pay you the equivalent it just depends on your company policy, HR and manager.

AliceRR · 03/08/2018 15:05

I have pains in my inner thighs, high up, aching as if I have been exercising my inner thighs or having sex(!) or similar, but I haven’t! Anyone else had this? I can only assume it’s pregnancy related!

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/08/2018 15:28

Really dragonflew how funny! Remind me when you're due? I'm around 24th Feb (subject to dating scan).

Re. Pelvic floor, I was religious at doing the old squeeze and hold with DS and when I was in labour the midwife commented on how tight my muscles were and said I would probably find both harder than most as a result! So I would say don't overdo it. I pushed for 2 hours 40 mins! (He was back to back mind).

Never once had any issues of weakness after birth though, not even straight after, so maybe it was worth it...

Lookingforadvice123 · 03/08/2018 15:29

Lookingatthestars haven't had my test yet as scan is a week Tues, but it's interesting to see everyone saying their risk figure as with DS 3 years ago they didn't give you a figure. The letter just said "low risk". You could ring to ask for your exact figure but I preferred not knowing, "low risk" was good enough for me. I wonder if it'll be different this time round though.

DragonFlew · 03/08/2018 16:06

@Lookingforadvice123 I'm due 24th Feb too! Scan will confirm exact dates though - I've not had any early scans just waiting it out until 12 weeks! Not long to go!

Yakadee · 03/08/2018 16:10

@Lookingforadvice123 - I even got two different figures this time, seem to think I just got one first time. Mine was a really random amount too, like 1:46,776 or something and then the other 1:100,000. Xx

powkin · 03/08/2018 16:22

I’ve moved my scan forward from 13.0 weeks to 12.4 - so it’s moved from our wedding anniversary to my birthday (16th!). Really putting all my eggs in the good news basket 😬 I’m so impatient after all the pictures on here I just want to know either way as soon as possible as not telling people is getting really hard. We are seeing my family next weekend and keep flip flopping about whether to say anything pre-scan.

bubblybrit · 03/08/2018 16:27

@LookingAtTheStars89. That’s great news!! So pleased for you 😀😀😀!!! Xx

powkin · 03/08/2018 16:41

I usually dream loads and have found I’m dreaming less, or that I’m remembering them less. I had an extremely detailed dream about work and discussing child safeguarding referrals the other day!

jeanzbeanz · 03/08/2018 16:42

@Picklesandpies thank you for your kind words. I am going to see how the weekend goes and call the Dr on Monday if I'm no better. Need to give these meds a few days to get into my system maybe?

I had my nuchal translucency test last Thursday, not had the results through yet (which I'm assuming means it's good news!), I'm nervously checking the post every day!!

Celebelly · 03/08/2018 16:59

Our figure was 1 in 100,000, so that was a relief!
