Same @craftymum I’m definitely not getting a double but I’ll have a 3 year old who either runs, gets tired or falls over (more when tired). So sling it will have to be. Although I am considering trying a buggy board but I’m not sure DD will go for it...

craftymum01 · 12/08/2018 21:56

A friend of mine has a buggy board with a seat for her almost 2 year old. He seems to really take to it. My DS won't even sit on a ride on toy so I know this wouldn't suit him. Do you know anyone that has one that you could try before you buy @Since2016?

Since2016 · 12/08/2018 21:58

That’s what I was thinking @craftymum I may see who has one. She has a scooter but gets scared easily and won’t use it and I honestly don’t think she’d go for it but worth a go...

clairehr · 12/08/2018 22:02

Never tried a wrap, but really want to give it a go if I can, a little apprehensive about tying though so I bet I'll go for a pre tied sling!

I just launched SO across the other side of the room when he accidentally brushed my nipple. Anyone else's nipples SUPER sensitive?!

Good luck to all those having scans this week, exciting! I had the blood test straight after my scan, just had to change rooms and head to where other ladies were having their GD tests. Got results by post on Saturday (5 days after scan) and all low risk.

craftymum01 · 12/08/2018 22:02

It's difficult isn't it. When I was pregnant earlier this year I was going to get a double as DS would be not quite 2 when baby was due. However when I went and looked at them they just seem so cumbersome. And an added expense. It's just hard as I know DS can't be trusted to walk safely next to me without me watching him constantly. It makes walking anywhere very stressful. Buggies with straps are a God send!

Since2016 · 12/08/2018 22:39

Exactly! I just can’t justify the cost when I know DD won’t be in it for v long, but worry about how to manage both - hence I suspect sling to the rescue!

Surprisedmom · 12/08/2018 23:02

@Alicejj8x the bugaboos online are loads cheaper and I am planning to buy one of those second hand rather than spending mega-money.

I don’t want to buy a car seat second hand though and the only ones compatible with bugaboos cost a lot of money, but i’d really like to be able to transfer the baby from car to pram so will fork out for one I think.

Since we’re all due February is anyone else hoping for some good January sales? I’m trying not to go too crazy right now buying stuff hoping for some good sales then.

craftymum01 · 12/08/2018 23:07

I’d keep your eye on your local mothercare as a few are closing down and are having big sales. Not sure if peaks and travel systems are included but defo worth looking out for

ValentinesBaby · 12/08/2018 23:54

We got our scan Friday it was lovely. All went well and baby wiggly and started sucking it's hand aha. I think it's a boy, anybody else fancy a guess? Aha. Found out defo due on the 14th :)
We went to mamas and papas to look at prams and couldn't believe how expensive they are!

@Since2016 Connectas tend to be good for tiny ones because you can cinch the bottom in loads. I used a Beco Gemini from earlyish on but they’ve released a new model that I think may need an insert now. Definitely would recommend a sling library though. If I hadn’t been I’d have ended up buying a sling it turned out I hated!

@Surprisedmom Can you not get connectors for other car seats with bugaboo? I don’t have a bugaboo but lots of brands do connectors for maxi cosi/cybex/other brand seats.

I'm going to have to wait and see about a pram I think. We have a Silver Cross Pioneer we bought new from a discount shop near us. I really like it and still use it now for a 2 year old. It's better in the winter than our lightweight stroller. Not sure whether to get a double/tandem for newborn and 2.5 year old because dd often sleeps in the pram at the moment. She's also very distractable when she walks and likes trying to push the pram (less than helpful).

Notquiteagandt · 13/08/2018 05:19

@Surprisedmom I plan to buy mine the January. Purely for the reason 2 year warrenty starts from day of purchase so dont want it sat there for months not being used.

For carriers I have bought a wrap already. I know the basic ones but have booked into a wrap workshop for once babies here to learn more ways to tie.

I plan to use sling library I know which ones I love. But going to wait until babies here to see if they like them/which they like. If I have a c'section or any tender bits. And how big baby is. Try loads before I buy. Hoping for the ergo 360.

My 1st baby but I used to work in the nursery products industry so feel I know most products inside out. Although been out of it 2yrs now and things have moved on loads.

Pram wise Im looking at the cybex priam as an easy fold and outdoor tires are important to me. But also loving the uppababy vista.

@Surprisedmom with carseat adaptors other carseats somtimes fit its just the carseat brands pay the pram brands to safety test their carseats on it and to advise they fit. Obviously there are alot of carseats out there so not every brand will do this. But just because they have mot purposely safey tested it. Doesnt mean they wont fit. Just a case of trying it.

Lookingforadvice123 · 13/08/2018 07:09

I will have a newborn and a 3.2 year old and I point blank refuse to get a double buggy, even though my DS is, ahem, lazy and will often asked to be carried on a walk. I'm going to get a buggy board, and a Tula (apparently NHS staff get excellent discount, and MIL works for the NHS).

Sorry I've already forgotten who was asking about Jan sales (I'm rubbish with usernames) but I would keep an eye out all year round for offers on travel systems/prams. We got a Mamas and Papas Sola2 for about £500 for the whole bundle: carrycot, car seat, adapters, isofix etc. It was in a colour which was being discontinued which is why it was reduced so much. They still sell this type of pram now for more, just in different colours. As pp said, we only used it until DS was about 10 months anyway as soon as he was out of his infant car seat, it made sense to switch to a light weight stroller. The travel system seemed so heavy with an almost one year old.

fizzledays · 13/08/2018 07:34

Is anyone else starting to get real feelings of "growing"? Not stretching feelings as such, just definite...movement and shifting of things I guess? Especially when getting up from sitting or bed.
Can't think how else to describe! Am 13+4!

MrsY87 · 13/08/2018 07:41

@twiglet for countryside living take a look at the out & about. We have the double version at my parents as they live on a farm it is by far the easiest buggy I have ever pushed across fields etc I'm a bit of a buggy addict so have tried a few different ones and for country living I'd definitely recommend!

@Since2016 I used a Caboo with both my DD and DS, my DS was 9lb 10 and had always followed the 91st or above centile line. You'll be surprised at the weight limits for them! I'd def also second visiting a sling library.

No idea what we are going to do pram wise, DS will only be 17m when the twins arrive so won't be up to walking long distances and will still be napping. 🙈 My friend has offered me her bugaboo donkey so I'm thinking DS and one twin in the buggy & the other twin in a sling. Think I'm going to invest in an ergo as it's going to get ALOT of use and I don't find my connects that comfortable for long periods of time.

twiglet · 13/08/2018 08:19

@mrsy87 thanks for the recommendation will do its definitely something I had underestimated!

I've had to call in sick this morning have a horrible headache for over a day now paracetamol isn't working and so dizzy I had to stop myself falling over.
I'm glad my work doesn't count pregnancy related against absence calculations I've been off 5 days in the past 3 months. Compared to about 2 in over a year

somethingfromnothing · 13/08/2018 08:25

I’m not sure who asked but I think it was @Fiep I asked to join Fb group.

Since2016 · 13/08/2018 08:29

Yes NHS staff get discount on ergo and Tula but only if they’re a registered professional - so OT, RN etc managers like myself are excluded sadly!

Since2016 · 13/08/2018 08:31

Thanks @mrsy87 DD was 9 11 so expecting another whopper! Will definitely need hands free with a toddler and would like one I can feed in easily too.

MakeLemonade · 13/08/2018 08:35

I have a connecta and an ergobaby which have both been great slings, still use the connecta now with an almost three year old.

We’ve got the Joolz Day pushchair/travel system which we also still use for longer walks and in winter - although also have a lightweight stroller that lives in the car. We got an ex-display model which meant it was cheaper and I think there are often similar types of deals around. They turnover models, colours, styles etc pretty quickly.

welshweasel · 13/08/2018 08:55

The ergo/Tula discount is now only for midwives and paediatricians sadly - I think too many of us tried to get it. I wanted an ergo 360 for this one so I was really annoyed!!

Alicejj8x · 13/08/2018 09:40

Baby bean is all good
Everything looked great and how it should do the lady said just waiting for the blood test now for the downsyndrome but she measured the fold and said it was all normal :)
Measuring 12 +4 I thought I was 13 weeks today as last scan 2 weeks ago I was measuring 11 but they wasn't worried and said it's fine so now I'm the one worrying it hasn't grown that much? But the size has doubled is this ok ?
Due date is now 21st Feb

Don’t worry @alicejj8x this is the official scan and the most accurate with regard to measurements and dates. Earlier scans are just an estimate. The date can also be up to 4 days out. It’s only 3 days! Glad all ok. Congratulations!

Since2016 · 13/08/2018 09:59

Oh really @welshweasel ? That’s a shame. I’m definitely going to invest in another connecta and a soft wrap. Don’t need anything else really so these will be my ‘fun’ purchases!

Have seen several friends this wkend who didn’t know - have totally enjoyed the looks on their faces when they saw me 😂 I’m so naughty! Seeing another friend tomorrow who’s 5 weeks ahead of me and doesn’t know.... hehe!

AliceRR · 13/08/2018 10:05

@Alicejj8x congrats! How long do you have to wait for DS results? I was told they’d ring me within a week if it’s not low risk otherwise I’d get a letter within 2 weeks. Waiting for confirmation on this now but not as anxious as I was about everything looking ok on scan. She didn’t say anything to her about beck measurements so now it’s another thing to wait for! Just telling myself risk is low.

What’s everyone else’s experience of getting results? How quick was it? Wondering if I should call them if I haven’t heard by Thursday although I don’t want to hear by Thursday as that could mean not low risk!

DragonFlew · 13/08/2018 10:09

@Alicejj8x beautiful pic!
