Welcome back Maddie! Can’t believe people think it’s ok to make comments about your body so openly when you’re pregnant - they wouldn’t dare if you weren’t - it’s like they all feel they have a right to pass comment without remembering there’s a person with feelings on the receiving end. Good work on your cot! Ours is in bits, half in the car banging around every time I take a corner too fast and half in the spare room (soon to be the nursery if I pull my finger out).

Justtowarm niiiiice setup! Will you be able to sleep all day or are you finding that too hot?

unicornchaser · 03/08/2018 16:55

What’s everyone decided on prams? Travel systems or no, a buggy style with a new born carry cot attachment?
I thought I had decided but now realising I have limited boot space (have an estate car but also have a dog cage that will be going in and taking most the boot space!) I am wondering if a travel system pram is really necessary rather than just a buggy with a separate car seat? Any smaller folding pram recommendations that can take on rugged rural terrain?

Flamingo19 · 03/08/2018 17:05

Can’t recommend anything practical as I fell in love with my pram and brought it on impulse just for the looks but it’s a travel system and I’m very happy with it so far but obviously haven’t actually used it yet. It’s the Bebécar Ip-Op Evolultion

jasmin93 · 03/08/2018 17:27

Ladies, the heat is crazy! Our new "groEgg"in little ones nursery says 29.6°C! WTAF. What am I going to do next year with him in here? The furniture is mostly set up, apart from the changing table (I decided to go for the Ikea one as I don't like the idea of changing him anywhere near his clean clothes - that's me being weird I guess).

We bought the Silver cross travel system Pioneer. It was on offer at Mothercare at the time and we liked the design. Fortunately my boot space should be big enough...

We had a 4D scan the other day, but baby decided to not show at all. The woman said he is breech, very big & low. They offered a complimentary second attempt next week. Fingers crossed that he moved and finally shoes his face :)

unicornchaser · 03/08/2018 17:54

I love the pioneer @jasmin93, that's what we ideally want though I've fallen in love with the special edition one with the brown leather on the handle. But refuse to pay close to £1000 for it new! Watching out for one second hand! I've measured the boot and it can fit just but I still just wonder if it's a bit OTT and how long I would actually use it before switching to a smaller/lighter stroller 🤔

OP posts:
Havetothink · 03/08/2018 18:43

unicorn chaser personally I wouldn't go for a pram that 'just' fits in the boot (I don't know how close it is?). You really don't want to be battling the pram into the boot every time. I resisted doing the same thing because I liked a pram and I'm glad I did. If it's heavy I guarantee you'll switch to something lighter after 6 months as it's so much easier.

TinyTerror1 · 03/08/2018 18:51

I'm getting mine second hand from stepbrother, it's a baby jogger Citi mini and I'm buying a car seat to fit (finding car seats a bit of a minefield tbh). We don't actually have a car so I need something that will fit in any hire car or family car I end up travelling in!!! At least the buggy is fairly compact though.

Somewhat late to the party I picked up my "mum to be" bounty pack from Asda earlier and it has the cutest little vest in it 😍 it's our first actual item of baby clothing as we'll be collecting loads from family, so it was quite an emotional moment daft though that sounds.

FromMaddieToMommie · 03/08/2018 19:10

We went for the Wave Silver Cross travel system. Apart from the fact that I just loved the look of it, I also thought it was convenient to have all the bits and pieces we might need. It was expensive but we're hoping to be able to use it for future babies as well as it looks strong and sturdy and reliable. Saying that, it hasn't even crossed my mind that it might not fit in the boot

Havetothink · 03/08/2018 19:29

Quotes from today:

"You ok, all six of you?" - my manager's manager

"There's no way you're going to make it to term" - manager's assistant

"I swear you're growing by the hour" after lunch 😒

FromMaddieToMommie · 03/08/2018 19:39

Try to ignore them @Havetothink. People think they're funny and love speaking mindlessly. I've always been very self-conscious about my weight and I calorie count even now whilst pregnant (I go over most days but at least I'm aware of it and I try to balance it a little throughout the week). I am worried about what I'm going to look like after birth but I try to always think of this wonderful thing my body is doing right now and I'll deal with the extra weight when the time comes. When people make comments about how BIG it getting I just smile and walk away or just tell them that I am growing a human being in my tummy after all

EffRam · 03/08/2018 19:56

Hello!! Please can I be added in? Due 22nd October with a surprise.

Have been quiet of late after a really busy June/July and now on a blissful relaxing holiday in Spain :) it's really hot but that is fine when all I have to do is lounge around the pool! Although currently on a train to another city in Spain for a wedding tomorrow...

Will be more engaged on my return. No buggies or nursery equipment bought or considered yet Confused

TinyTerror1 · 03/08/2018 19:57

@Havetothink yes in my experience it has no relation to reality it's just something they think is funny and probably don't realise you don't. I had three people ask if I was sure it wasn't twins in the same week as being told baby was on the 9th centile...

It's annoying and upsetting and all you can do is grit your teeth. How much longer are you working?

Havetothink · 03/08/2018 20:25

Unfortunately I have a good idea what I'll look like after birth and trust me when I say it wasn't pretty and took a long time to look close to normal after my first dd. If it was just fat I wouldn't be worried but the bump is just enormous, all out front, even my support belt has given in under the strain and I'm going to have to buy something industrial this time. For the most part I do ignore people as I know most don't mean any harm, even the gaupers, but I was already feeling particularly huge and babies movements have been sooo uncomfortable today, even painful, don't know what it thinks it's up to in there.

Also getting heat rash where my enormous boobs are resting on my bump Sad

Havetothink · 03/08/2018 20:26

1 week left to go and counting the days.

Havetothink · 03/08/2018 20:46

Sorry, moan over. I've got ice cream and feel a bit calmer, think my hormones are messing with me today, I burst into tears over some song on the radio earlier.

twobambinos · 03/08/2018 20:48

@havetothink only one week left?

@unicornchaser try and fit the buggy in your boot before you buy. It was my biggest criteria this time as we have been there and done that buying a travel system that will only squeeze in. It gave me a bad back for the few weeks I persisted before I gave up and bought a cheap stroller with lie flat function and the expensive one was made redundant.

The time we have gone for the quinny zapp plus and it folds tiny but I can't recommend it for rough terrain because its not been used by us yet. But it does look nice. You can get a carry cot for it for new born or a cocoon and it takes the maxi cosi seats too.

FromMaddieToMommie · 03/08/2018 20:49

I bought one of those gateaux from Asda the other day. The box said it served 8 but as it turned out it served one pregnant lady and her 29 week unborn child.
Glad to hear you're feeling happier.
And if it makes you feel any better, I get sweat patches under my boobs which aren't even all that big (yet).

Havetothink · 03/08/2018 21:14

frommaddietomommie I could definitely go for a whole chocolate gateaux.

twobabinos yes, I found out last week I have to use up all my remaining holiday before my maternity leave starts or lose the holiday when it ticks over to a new holiday year in April. So I'm going quite a bit earlier than planned.

TinyTerror1 · 03/08/2018 21:17

Think the heat and hormones are getting to a lot of us today. I'm mostly just overwhelmed at trying to work out what to buy. There's so much choice. And baby or something is putting pressure on my back in the most uncomfortable way today 😏

Glad you've only got a week of work left have to think, at least then you won't have to put up with the comments any more x

twobambinos · 03/08/2018 21:33

Oh I thought you meant the baby was coming early. Oh that will be lovely put the feet up and be kind to yourself.
I have 4.5 weeks left at work but I think I have a week holidays left to take so I might make it 3.5.

unicornchaser · 03/08/2018 21:38

I have the heat rash under the boobs too, hot some cream from the doc last month and just had to get another tube as I ran out. It doesn't really make much difference though tbh I'm now getting a persistent itch on my throat too.

When I say the pram will fit just, I should have plenty space for it but will leave little room for much else. Though tbh I doubt I would take the pram with me to do big food shops etc anyway so shouldn't be too much of a problem!

Do you ladies suffer from headaches? And if so, how do you alleviate the pain? My midwife suggested paracetamol but sometimes (like now), it just won't go

Havetothink · 04/08/2018 01:58

Haven't had a lot of headaches but things I would try would be: drinking water, a lukewarm bath, massage from your partner (back, shoulders, scalp maybe even feet if he's willing), drink with caffeine, food. Failing those and the paracetamol a dark room and sleep.

EffRam · 04/08/2018 07:44

@frommaddietomommie i have found the cooling headache strips from boots are good, as well as 4head. I've slept with the cooling strips on s couple of times when it's just been super hot and I've not had a headache tbh! And drinking lots of water. Despite the toilet visit implication that brings!

FromMaddieToMommie · 04/08/2018 11:14

Thank you for your suggestions. A looong sleep seems to have helped last night's headache. I don't think I drink enough water and I'm sure that's one of the causes even though I try to make up for it by eating lots of watermelon. I'll be sure to ask for some massages though haha
