@Thegirlhasnoname I've had my health visit already. They literally don't leave the room that you invite them into. They talk abit about the care you'll get after you've had the baby, a tiny bit about the birth and what happens afterwards and then they just give you leaflets about breastfeeding and things like that.

They don't look round at all, they don't ask anything about where baby will be sleeping Smile

twobambinos · 25/09/2018 16:45

The reality is though that nobody really knows when baby will show up. 37-42 weeks is a big time frame isn't It. And some go a little earlier than that even.

Nothing to report here other than a bit of a braxton hicks or two and I'm not even sure if they are. I feel awful today really tired from insomnia, vomiting and heartburn and I just need the baby to make his way out now because if I have to wait until I'm 10days over I will have no fight left in me. But I suppose at least I know in two weeks it will be behind me. I am looking forward to meeting this new little person though.

midnight1983 · 25/09/2018 18:28

@meetthewildes thanks for the well wishes. Its viral so far and I'm gargling with salt water very bloody five minutes!

Feeling a lot of movement way down low and wondering if baby is getting ready...

twobambinos · 25/09/2018 19:17

@midnight1983 hope you feel better soon tonsillitis is so sore.

@havetothink hope your 2 year old was Co operative about going back for the nap.

twobambinos · 25/09/2018 19:18

@midnight1983 fingers crossed its baby getting ready to move out.

@oreolovegood have your contractions eased off?

oreolovegood · 25/09/2018 20:38

@twobambinos still going around every 3 hours. I had the midwife today, baby is 2/5 engaged and I've got another scan on Monday to check everything out. She said everything's kind of half started and then stopped, so frustrating! Hmm

midnight1983 · 26/09/2018 03:59

@oreolovegood how frustrating for you! Fingers crossed something happens soon!

@twobambinos thanks for the thought. I have woken with period type pains... Pelvic and right in my bum. This is where I get period pain so I'm suspecting baby is very low and burrowing in or could be the start of something. Really hard to tell!

Hayleyxmx · 26/09/2018 06:59

Oh I haven’t had any information about a health visitor I didn’t even know they existed 😝.

midnight1983 · 26/09/2018 07:01

Oh yes and I had a letter about a health visitor home visit but its completely optional so I have ignored it...

Lila99 · 26/09/2018 07:12

It’s me that’s the last of us with our due dates - 31st October here! Midwife today, will speak to her as I have had some watery ‘discharge’ just want to check it’s not waters leaking! 35 weeks today Smile It’s going quickly!

Hayleyxmx · 26/09/2018 07:37

Ahh I definitely haven’t had a letter 🤔

@lila99 hopefully it’s nothing to worry about. Good luck with midwife

meetthewildes · 26/09/2018 10:22

@oreolovegood I am so sorry that you're still in limbo. Get OUT, baby!

@midnight1983 mine 'burrowed' the other day - and then popped out like a cork from a bottle! I hope that yours finds the exit soon.

@lila99 good luck with the midwife!

Growth and position scan today! Looking forward to seeing bambino, hoping that we get a glimpse of the face and I don't accidentally spot the sex. It's all feeling so real! On a less positive note, I've just had an email from my midwife, who tells me that I'm practically dead. I'll be scheduling an iron infusion ASAP and using this as an excuse for any 'baby brain' moments in the office until then!

twobambinos · 26/09/2018 10:33

@oreolovegood is it slow labour. Hopefully it ramps up soon for you it sounds very tiring.

@meetthewildes I had a scan around then too and head was down so no face views unfortunately but maybe it will be different for you I hope you get the iron sorted soon.

@lila99 goodluck with the midwife.

Feeling very calm today. Wondering if it's the calm before the storm. Everything crossed it all kicks off soon

meetthewildes · 26/09/2018 10:45

@twobambinos Oh I didn't think of that! Well, I guess the face view will be a nice consolation prize if the little monkey is breech, and I'll hope in the meantime for no face shot but a nice, cephalic kiddo.

Hoping that you're having your 'calm before the storm'. So exciting how close we all are now.

midnight1983 · 26/09/2018 11:16

@twobambinos @meetthewildes at my 36 week scan baby was head down quite low and we managed to get a good view of his face 💖

Lila99 · 26/09/2018 17:09

The midwife I saw had Just qualified I suspect judging by the conversations I heard her having with the other midwives and she seemed quite nervous. Which is fine as we all have to start somewhere however she dismissed my comments about the fluid leaking and said it’s normal. She did refer me to have a growth scan tomorrow as I’m measuring small, so I will ask tomorrow if they could check fluid levels. Does anyone know if the people who do the scans are midwives? Or are they just scanners?

Thegirlhasnoname · 26/09/2018 17:43

@lila99 when I had my last growth scan I had a sonographer and a trainee midwife both in the room (and both had a go) so I think it might just depend on luck of the draw. Hopefully it’s somebody who can help with your queries though

twobambinos · 26/09/2018 17:53

@midnight1983 I suppose it depends what way baby is facing. I thought they were looking at the head it was actually the stomach Grin

I am completely exhausted this evening.. Really hope I sleep tonight.

@lila99 no harm to get the second opinion tomorrow anyway with the scan. Goodluck with it.

2ndPGchimp · 26/09/2018 19:05

Congratulations @ladydolly! I think the babies will start coming thick and fast now!

I finally on mat leave and not a moment too soon. I am beyond exhausted. Not much bearing happening here, just trying to get stuff organised but have to sit down (and eat chocolate) every 10 minutes!

We had the health visitor home visit on Tuesday and no real probing just letting you know how it will go with visits and where to get hold of help if you need it. It is a new thing since my last one and I think it is a good idea, particularly for nervous mums. I have volunteered in a baby bank where mums who need baby stuff can be referred by health visitors to get essentials for baby, I wonder whether it is at least partly to identify those in real need before baby arrives.

Morning everyone. Hope everyone is feeling well.

I've reached the point of being a hissing cat to EVERYONE and just being physically done. Movements are so low I keep thinking it must be time...and then it's not! Any tips on how to just be nicer to everyone I come in contact with? 🐱

twobambinos · 27/09/2018 07:36

@midnight1983 3 pregnancies and I haven't mastered it. Alot of tongue biting is all I can say and avoid. I know I'm no use to you Grin

justtowarm · 27/09/2018 08:08

Awww @midnight1983 it's awful isn't it. I am being the most awful person to my DH. He is being so good at the moment as well. so if anyone does have any tips I'm interested! 🙈 I'm just so uncomfortable all the time 😭

justtowarm · 27/09/2018 08:10

Ps. I just keep convincing myself labour is starting but no luck yet. Hoping the midwife might do a sweep today as the consultant said she could.

Havetothink · 27/09/2018 08:27

midnight1983 I find constantly snacking makes me a bit less hostile (mostly chocolate) but when every move is uncomfortable it's hard not to be cranky. I've booked myself a last minute spa treatment for tomorrow so at least I've got that to look forward to before baby arrives ☺
