Hot tea, vapour rub and paracetamol is what I used for my cold, was still miserable but they took the edge off a little.

ladydolly · 20/09/2018 20:16

Hot baths, paracetamol and rest was all that helped this cold. Still shaking the cough off. Hope you feel.better soon.

Having an emotional day. It's hit me that I only have 3/4 more days of being pregnant and I'll never do it again. I hate being pg and don't want any more kids but I still feel a bit sad that its so final.
And then poor dd. She's been very emotional this last week, she says it's not to do with the baby but I can't imagine what else it is. So again, last few days of having us to herself and she's such a lovely child and is that because of how much time we've had to spend on her? I know a sibling will be good for her but I just feel a bit sad about the changes for her.

filzma · 21/09/2018 00:18

@Penguina pls let us know how everything went. For all those with flus, the lidl non caffeinated ginger tea is brilliant. Cleared my sore throat and runny nose within no time.

Another long night it seems. Can't sleep. Btw, I'm 38weeks now and my boobs are still flaccid. Have had no leakage. Have had some slight pains but nothing serious. Is there anything I can do to prepare? 😔😔 Anyone in same situation or experienced this but managed to breastfeed?🤱

Belles86 · 21/09/2018 04:19

@filzma I’m 38 weeks and same in the boob category (and hoping to bf). Not overly concerned but thought I’d offer some chest solidarity 👊
How are you feeling? Yesterday I reached maximum knackered-ness and spent all day in bed 🤪

ladydolly · 21/09/2018 04:43

First time around I had no boob growth or leakage at all. Dd latched on as soon as I was in recovery and zero problems. I did do some massage from about 38 weeks and again once she arrived before feeds to collect colustrum in a syringe which the hospital helped me with. I think we only did that to check it was coming and I remember the nurse telling me to slow down as it was all coming too fast. So don't worry about those flaccid boobs yet, they've still plenty of time to do an excellent job. Smile

filzma · 21/09/2018 07:05

Aww thank you ladies!! You don't even know what that means to me.
@Belles86 I'm beyond knackered. Taking naps daily without fail. Face puffy, feet beginning to swell. Always yawning.
How are you all today?Thanks

justtowarm · 21/09/2018 07:07

@ladydolly sorry your day was emotional, i can relate. I keep having cuddles with my little boy and getting a bit overwhelmed for him that his whole experience of life is about to change. He is also a bit worried about the baby coming. Sometimes he seems excited but he is super clingy to me at the mo and asking lots of questions. I hope you feel a better today :)

Hope all is well @Penguina

unicornchaser · 21/09/2018 07:53

Oh @ladydolly and @justtowarm bless your DC, it must be a confusing wee time for them trying to understand what's going to change. Hopefully though they will both quickly adjust and it will only be happy times with their new siblings.

@ladydolly where did you get the syringes to collect early with the colostrum? Did you freeze anything you got from 38 weeks on? Think I'll ask about that at the next mw appointment!

twobambinos · 21/09/2018 08:32

@ladydolly are you being induced?Best of luck for the big day can't wait to hear the announcement.
I think there's only a day or two between us but I'm fully expecting to go over. Im the opposite I do not want to be pregnant anymore ever again but don't feel a bit sad!

@filzma I didnt breastfeed and I did have leaking from early on but they didn't get any bigger in pregnancy at all even at the start. Then on day 3 after the birth boom I could rival a pair on page 3. That went down after a day or two and they gushed for weeks. So what you do or don't have before baby really isn't any guarantee of after. Im sure it will all be fine.

twobambinos · 21/09/2018 08:33

Hope all the ladies with colds are on the mend and get the energy levels back up soon. Be kind to yourselves.

midnight1983 · 21/09/2018 13:26

@ladydolly and @justtowarm My DS has been going between really excited and anxious... He had a big cry over not being a baby anymore and then the next day he was very happy that the baby will be 'the kid' and he will be the 'big boy'. He's 4 and just started school so there's a lot to take in. I feel worried that he will be overwhelmed but... He probably will be and we will all be ok still. I'm really looking forward to seeing him become a big brother.

Feeling very weird today - very emotional and EXTREMELY tired. Baby seems to have dropped very low as the top of my belly is completely sloped down. Great thing is I can breathe, but I am starting to wonder if I will go into labour soon?!

nervousFTM · 21/09/2018 13:48

Hi everyone! Just wanted to chat now that our baby girl is 6 days old. Crazy I was only meant to be 35+5 today.

We have finally confirmed her name today :) she is a little diamond, very good but docs say preterm babas do tend to be quieter. I feed her every 2 hours so very interrupted sleep but it doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as I expected.

I did not enjoy my pregnancy at all, but birth and the initial days of motherhood seem to actually suit me!!?!

All veins, varicose and spider, just vanished the minute baby left the building. Absolute zero pelvic pain anymore. She is a great feeder and knows the latch - I never wanted to bf but now I've tried it, I love it. The midwives really helped get the bf off to a good start.

I was lucky to not tear. To be honest I feel completely normal 'down there' and am back at hot yoga already (taking it easy). Anyway just wanted to say as I totally feel your pain about being heavily pregnant but be assured all of that can literally disappear overnight! I've already lost 16 of the 30lbs I put on too 😬

One mega downside is being so far ahead of my antenatal group. We have a WhatsApp chat group which is awesome but I'd love to be hanging around with other new mums 💕 have to wait a few weeks until their babies start popping up.

Xx

Sophwalms · 21/09/2018 13:54

@nervousFTM oh wonderful news!! What did you call your baby girl? Wow that's a great weight loss already im hoping mine drops off like that! 4 weeks to go. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

Sophwalms · 21/09/2018 13:56

@midnight1983 I'm feeling exactly the same as you today very emotional and abit strange! How many weeks are you? I'm 35+2 xx

midnight1983 · 21/09/2018 16:03

@sophwalms I'm 37+1 so baby is welcome to come out if he wishes!

@nervousFTM wow! I am very impressed you are doing hot yoga! After I had my first son I was a mess for MONTHS. Really glad you're enjoying motherhood and that you and baby are well.

meetthewildes · 21/09/2018 17:28

@nervousFTM it's lovely to hear such a bubbly update! I am so pleased that you and your little girl are doing well, albeit slightly freaked out by it - you were only three days ahead of me!!

@ladydolly best of luck with the upcoming birth!

twobambinos · 21/09/2018 18:16

@nervousftm great to get the update you sound like you are well suited to this. And delighted you got the name sorted its tricky naming a baby isn't it.

@midnight1983 another one here that would be happy for baby to show up. I'm 39 weeks though I would have happily taken baby from 37 of nature intended. Hurry on little one.

twobambinos · 21/09/2018 18:19

@nervousftm I joined this chat because I'm due the very end of September I was at the end of the month last time too and felt like everyone had had their babies and nobody was left to talk to so guessing I'll go over I just headed straight to october due dates. You will have some mummy friends in no time and after the first 3 or 4 months a couple of weeks won't make any difference. You will be the one with all the wisdom for now.

ladydolly · 21/09/2018 20:30

I'm having a c section on Monday but came in for my pre op appointment today and they found her laying transverse (just like I have been saying she does) so I have to stay in until then. Very sad to have missed

ladydolly · 21/09/2018 20:33

Oops

Missed my last weekend with dd as an only child but safer for me to be here.

Nervousftm its great you're taking to it so well, I also find newborn days easier than being pregnant so bring it on!!

caoraich · 21/09/2018 20:37

Not been on here in ages!

Just popping by to say congratulations @nervousFTM !! Sounds like you're totally bossing things. Glad you got good support from the midwives too :)

I'm 37 weeks at the start of next week so holding off getting bouncing on the yoga ball quite yet.

Anyone else not really nesting in the way they thought would happen? I'm on mat leave now but all I've been doing is watching Netflix with my feet up! Despite the fact that the house could do with a good scrub Shock

twobambinos · 21/09/2018 22:30

@ladydolly sorry to hear you missed your last weekend at home but you really are in the best place. Good luck on Monday it really is only around the corner now. Can't wait to hear the update.

Yerp · 21/09/2018 22:47

I’m 34+5 now and I am so counting down the days! I’m so ready for this pregnancy to be over! I’m Trying to think of it more as I’ve only got five weeks left to do everything I won’t have time to do once she’s here, but I’m still wishing the time away!

I can’t believe people are starting to have their babies already! It really won’t be long for the rest of us now!

midnight1983 · 22/09/2018 07:10

@ladydolly good luck! Sorry for your weekend in hospital, hope you get some rest.

My son woke me at 4.30 (he gets in our bed every night still) and I haven't been properly back to sleep since... Just torture. Though I need to get used to interrupted sleep again I guess 🙄

meetthewildes · 22/09/2018 08:55

Oh @midnight1983 isn’t that the worst. My little girls were ‘kind’ enough to let us sleep in until 06.30 this morning, and I am a bit nervous about those kind of weekend wake-ups after being up with a baby. Hoping to get another bedsharing, breastfeeding one so that I can just sleep through most of the night feeds!

Back to the hospital today to get my ferritin and B12 tested. I think that if I’m not offered an iron infusion, I might just pay privately for one - the tablets had no effect on my iron levels in my last pregnancy and I wasted valuable weeks trying to fix my anaemia with them, I don’t really want to find myself in the same position so late in my pregnancy. Still, this pregnancy is proving very easy so far.. I can’t complain. Five weeks to go, or seven really as I am bound to go overdue, and we’ll have another little squish to love on!
