Oh goodness, @penguina, I am so sorry to hear that your daughter is so unwell. Sepsis terrifies me. I hope that the doctors have a good handle on it, she is getting better by the day and will be home soon. And in the meantime I hope that you’re not suffering too much in hospital with her.

Yesterday I thought it would be a splendid idea to wear a jumpsuit to the office. It wasn’t. Aside from that minor bout of indignity, all is well here. Need to start shopping for baby - have done nothing!

2ndPGchimp · 07/09/2018 18:03

@Penguina sorry for your stress at the moment, I hope she is on the mend.

Has anyone bought an electric steriliser? We did microwave one last time, but are thinking of investing in an electric one this time round. However all the reviews of all the brands contain at least some people who say that the plastic gets burnt. Are they all just rubbish or are those people failing to use them properly (which could easily be me on little sleep!).

twobambinos · 07/09/2018 19:11

@2ndpregchimp we had an electric one last time and wanted to get the same one again but when I went searching for it it has been recalled because it wasn't heating up properly and not killing the bacteria. So we went for microwave one this time.

Hope your daughter is doing OK @penguina.

I'm really struggling at the moment. I'm so tired. Everywhere I look I see more dirt and things to be done. And I'm having awful insomnia. I know I'm really sounding ungrateful. I feel like I could burst into tears at any minute and don't know where I am going to get the energy to labor.

Havetothink · 07/09/2018 19:31

I also feel like crap. I spent most of the day scrubbing the house because I couldn't stand to look at it and now my back is killing me. I want to sleep but can't and every time I turn over in bed I get a BH which makes me want to throw up. I spent the last three days bursting into tears and today I feel incredibly angry with no particular reason.

midnight1983 · 07/09/2018 20:20

@2ndPGchimp we had an electric steriliser last time and it worked just fine but it takes ages and I'm looking forward to the convenience of a microwave one this time.

Feeling those braxton hicks also. I've been on a long walk into town and back and had horrendous lower back pain and tightenings... Started worrying its the real thing! All my movements are being felt VERY low down. 😣😣

justtowarm · 07/09/2018 21:40

The Braxton Hicks have been strong for weeks but the are killing me now 😭😭😭. My stomach muscles have decided to separate and gentle touch is painful so I'm guessing that's not helping! I'm being induced on the 9th of October now as they don't want me to go past my due date.... I am counting the days/hoping she comes sooner (but safely)

Sophwalms · 07/09/2018 22:06

Can I join? It's my 2nd baby boy due 25th of October xx

midnight1983 · 08/09/2018 09:46

Welcome @Sophwalms and congratulations!

Sophwalms · 08/09/2018 09:54

Thank you, is everyone doing ok? Exciting times for next month! Xx

afloat · 08/09/2018 19:53

Hi all, jumping on board too. Have been trying to avoid social media/forums so far but I am starting to really need the company! Am due with my second (also a girl) on October 3rd so “full term” this week. Am exhausted and not prepared at all for the baby to come .. we are rennovating a cottage and everything is still in boxes....

unicornchaser · 09/09/2018 01:20

Urghh, lightning crotch making me think I need to lee every 10 mins and leg cramps/pains are just ruining me right now!
Giving up and buying magnesium tomorrow!!

Any other suggestions, please send them along!

Welcome @sophwarms and @afloat!

@unicornchaser I hope you managed to get some sleep!

So yesterday my three-year-olds we’re watching videos of how babies are made, from sperm meeting egg to delivery. This morning one of them made a casual remark about the baby having lots of fish for company in the womb right now... I think some correction might be in order! The same boy is fairly adamant that he will be catching the baby - um, no, thank you!

midnight1983 · 09/09/2018 10:21

@meetthewildes that's very funny! I tried explaining to my four year old that the baby gets vitamins from what I eat but he just thought the baby was in there with his mouth open swallowing what I ate!

midnight1983 · 09/09/2018 10:22

Oh, and he asked me if the baby was wearing clothes in my belly 😂😂

Amy1996 · 09/09/2018 10:56

I'm due 21st October with a girl 💗🌟

twobambinos · 09/09/2018 21:48

Very emotional all weekend Sad feeling a bit better now.i think I'm just exhausted.
Welcome to all the newbies to the thread.

The house is nearly ready for the baby to arrive now. Was just washing the last of the baby stuff. So ready when you are baby out you get ha ha.

How is everyone feeling?

CherryPie18 · 10/09/2018 07:18

Back to work today after 10 days in Spain. I suddenly feel like I am struggling massively since being home, 28 working days left until maternity leave Sad And I can’t bring the date forward now as you need to give 28 days notice

Havetothink · 10/09/2018 09:01

28 days notice unless you go off sick with a pregnancy related illness then they'll bring you maternity leave forward.

Havetothink · 10/09/2018 09:02

That's only in the last 4 weeks before your due date though, I think.

2ndPGchimp · 10/09/2018 13:22

I am glad my 4yp is not the only one with the funny questions/thoughts @midnight1983 and @meetthewildes. Yesterday morning he brought a box of Lego into bed and asked me to open up my tummy so he could play Lego with his little brother! He is also Adamant he is coming to the hospital to see him arrive. When I explained that probably wasn't going to be possible, he replied that it wasn't fair because 'I have never ever ever seen a baby come out'. Difficult to reply to that!

Went in to hospital on Saturday morning as had a panic about reduced movements. Of course he started wiggling as soon as I got there. Afterwards I read that from 36 weeks they actually stArt to sleep sometimes, so maybe that was it.

ladydolly · 10/09/2018 14:36

I'm 37 weeks today so hurrah for full term. She can come when she's ready now :) I've been off work for 2 weeks now and I really couldn't have done much longer. I'm so tired and achey and somehow my days are filled with cleaning, tidying and general life admin! With my first my leaving date was 38 weeks but I just couldn't make it and my boss let me work half days for the last 2 weeks. I will never forget that kindness of a usually insensitive man!

@penquina how is your daughter?

meetthewildes · 10/09/2018 14:36

@midnight1983 @2ndPGChimp I think my favourite thing about having new babies is watching my children become siblings! My sons were too young (20 months old) to really understand when their twin sisters arrived, but they are so excited and so involved this time round. The girls less so, but I think they'll enjoy having a real baby about the house.

@2ndPGchimp I am really glad your baby is ok. Reduced movements scare the life out of me.

@twobambinos bloody hell, can you please come over and organise mine?! I've spent a small fortune on art prints, but that is literally it - the walls are half-painted and there's mess everywhere. Good thing that my babies always go late, I suppose!

twobambinos · 10/09/2018 17:24

@meetthewildes I love shopping so the buying part was easy. My standards have been really lowered around the house about redecorating and that kind of thing. The nursery is the same as it was for my two dds. I do think I would like a new pair of curtains I might have a look later in the week.

@ladydolly ditto anytime you want now baby. Out you go.

My older dd said to me today she hopes the baby won't be in her room wrecking the place all the time. I'm not sure she realises how little he will be moving around for quite some time yet.

@2ndpgchimp I had the same at 36+1 I was just about to ring the hospital when the movement started up again. Its so hard not to worry isn't it.

Penguina · 10/09/2018 17:57

@ladydolly thanks for asking over her! She’s made a full recovery and went back to nursery today. Still no idea where the initial infection came from . Dh and I think it wasn’t from her stomach but we will probably never know.

Movements are almost taking my breath away now. Also went out today in non maternity leggings which was sooo uncomfortable. I spent the whole time pulling them out - I was probably showing the world my pubes but I can’t see them so who knows!!!

I’m beginning to panic about the movements as well. Sometimes they feel really rhythmic which I’m convinced are seizures. Arghghgh

Havetothink · 11/09/2018 02:26

Apparently all it takes is a cold to stop you sleeping entirely. I've been trying to sleep for four hours and I've finally given up, gone to the sofa, taken more paracetamol and put a film on Sad
