That's so weird about the scan because they just automatically booked me in for the 36 week one after the 20 week scan. Maybe it's standard only in some areas?
Either way I am very happy to have it.

I am also feeling so much exhaustion at this stage. And lots of pelvic pressure/pain 😯😯 starting to remember what labour actually feels like and getting nervous to do it again...

midnight1983 · 04/09/2018 14:23

Welcome @Hollie1231

Thegirlhasnoname · 04/09/2018 14:29

I’m a bit late to the party but just saw this thread on the active section and was like “oh, my baby is due in October” so hopefully I’m not too late!

I’m 32+4 with my first (a little girl) and it’s all starting to feel very real now. Noticed this morning when sitting on the stairs tying shoe laces that I am starting to get pressure in my crotch area - no pain or anything, I can just tell it’s there (sort of like when you need a big poo Blush) - but unsure if that is normal or something I need to keep tabs on.

We’re having babies next month! The time sure does fly

oreolovegood · 04/09/2018 14:50

I'm due October 23rd with a little girl! Getting so close now.

Must say I've enjoyed probably about 8 weeks of my pregnancy in total, the rest has been really tough! Getting so excited to meet her now though Grin

meetthewildes · 04/09/2018 14:54

@havetothink I think it's standard now, at least in my part of SE London. I was offered - and declined - all sorts of bells-and-whistles scans, but this one is offered to everybody here.

Welcome @Hollie1231! And welcome @Thegirlhasnoname!

Last night I spent a glorious hour eating delicious soft ice in a warm bath. I don't even like cold food, but baby wants ice - constantly, it would seem. I don't think that I'm significantly anaemic - having been significantly anaemic previously I'm very aware of the warning signs, which for me involve tedious and repetitive daily fainting - but I'm going to start increasing my leafy greens and munching a prenatal vitamin again just in case. It's bizarre to want something so badly, all of the time.

justtowarm · 04/09/2018 15:35

@oreolovegood I think I have also only enjoyed about 8 weeks, if that 🙈. I'm so looking forward to this baby and can't wait but I bloody hate pregnancy, I did last time as well. It just doesn't suit me and my body objects in any way it can 🙈🙈😭😭😭

ladydolly · 04/09/2018 15:46

I think I managed to enjoy about 12 weeks of this pregnancy which is an improvement on the 6 weeks of the last one I enjoyed. Mostly because I had physio for my back and a prescription for reflux this time!

I had a 36 weeks scan, originally booked to check placenta position but that's already been checked so it was mostly because 2 weeks ago she was transverse. At the scan on Monday she was head down and now she's breech. Hmm I already told the midwife that she regularly changes position so I'm worried that the 36 wk scan was redundant but she said they'll just deal with it on the day!

Havetothink · 04/09/2018 19:15

Meetthewildes 36 week scan definitely isn't standard here (east anglia), I'm 35+1 weeks today and don't have another appointment until 36+4 no mention of extra scans, would be nice to have another but I guess I'll have to wait for baby now.

justtowarm · 04/09/2018 21:11

36 week scans are not routine here (southwest). You just get the 12 and 20 weeks unless a specific new sos identified. I've actually had scans at 26, 29, 32, and I have my last one on Thursday at 35 weeks due to being really high risk of pre eclampsia (had it before and other factors). I thought in most places it was just 2 scans :)

midnight1983 · 05/09/2018 09:04

Morning all and welcome to new faces.

Is anyone else experiencing/has experienced pressure or movements literally on their hip bones? I never had it with my first and its so bizarre...

oreolovegood · 05/09/2018 09:42

@midnight1983 I moved hospitals half way through my pregnancy when we moved into our new house. My old hospital didn't offer a 36 weeks scan but my new hospital does.

They said it's just routine, everyone gets one that is booked at that hospital. Did your letter say about blood tests on the day as well? My midwife said you don't actually have to have those ones as they are only for research purposes for the hospital, nothing to do with your pregnancy!

Havetothink · 05/09/2018 11:01

Midnight1983 yes, I keep getting movements right on the bone, lots of them.

twobambinos · 05/09/2018 11:13

@midnight1983 I get them too. Is it the baby moving down I wonder?
I'm a bit on edge today had a few very sharp quick pains last night and thought it might be the start of something but secretly knew it wasn't and now wondering how I will cope. Never had a pain on my dds until it was actually labour day so had no time to worry about it.

Today's ailments beyond exhausted this morning and still feel shattered after a nap but need to get out and about.
Had a horrible sickness session in the night too.

Has anyone still stuff to buy for baby? It's getting close now.. Cant believe next month we will have our babies.

midnight1983 · 05/09/2018 11:20

@oreolovegood no mention of blood tests just booked me in straight after my 20 week scan. I'm really looking forward to it tbh!

@twobambinos @havetothink the next to hip movements feel so strange. I do think it's to do with moving down - yesterday all day I had cramping and then in the evening a really bad pain that made me cry! I also started to think about how painful real labour is and how I would cope doing it again... Hopefully it's true that second labours are quicker!

twobambinos · 05/09/2018 11:26

@midnight1983 this is my third and my second was definitely quicker. The baby still didn't just magically pop out for me though.
I think once you know you are in labour it almost seems more manageable we'll at least there's not much you can do about it. But i personally don't think I would cope well with long days and weeks of pre labour. My first labour the pre labour went on for a while but wasn't sore. These pains last I could almost feel myself sucking on the gas and air. And wondering when I can get my epidural Grin

I think it must be baby moving around inside hips what else would it be I wonder. And I can feel legs up under my hips too so I have the same sensation pushing out from there. It's amazing more people don't end up with broken bones from it. They are quite strong. Or so they feel

midnight1983 · 05/09/2018 11:31

@twobambinos that's good to know that they tend to get quicker! With my first I had no pre labour pains, no braxton hicks, no warning at all. My waters broke at 39 weeks and I didn't even go into labour then and I had to be induced. Once induced the pains came very fast and very hard! With the amount of braxton hicks I'm having now I think I should go into labour naturally but I feel nervous as it's a new situation.

Childbirth is a mystery!

twobambinos · 05/09/2018 11:35

It's a mystery for sure. I would also just love to know when it's going to happen I know I'm not asking for much. But if it's going to be quick I'd prefer the kids were taken care of and I was ready to go besides it taking me by surprise and having to wait for sitters or dhs to come home or whatever. Can you tell the nerves are kicking in. Anyway it will be behind us soon. And we will have a whole new set of worries

Havetothink · 05/09/2018 11:59

twobambinos I'm the same, very nervous about getting child care arranged when it happens, it'll be different people depending on the day/time and I hate not having one simple arrangement 😕

midnight1983 · 05/09/2018 12:14

Me too! I'm really scared I'll be in labour alone...

twobambinos · 06/09/2018 15:49

I've started on the clary sage. Anyone else trying out some of the old tales?

My pelvis feels heavy today I wonder has the baby moved down a little bit or maybe it's just wishful thinking. Could be the spd rearing it's ugly head too I suppose.

I bought some more lovely babygros today and a nice sleeping bag too. I'd safely say we have enough stuff and are ready for this baby to show up Grin

Penguina · 06/09/2018 17:16

I’m still stick in hospital with my eldest (sepsis - nasty!) . Am so very very bored.

34 weeks today . Have nothing ready really . But not entirely sure what I need another than maternity pads and tiny nappies.

I’ve made him a load of clothes and will
Hopefully get time to do some more within the 5 weeks if time allows.

Anywhere have sales on that they know of - I feel the need to splurge. Although my tastes are a little ‘funky’ so online boutiques if you know any??

twobambinos · 06/09/2018 17:22

Awe @penguina your poor child I Hope he or she gets better very soon.
Fair play to you making the clothes. Im more of a buyer myself. Would love to be able to just alter stuff to fit better that would do me.

midnight1983 · 06/09/2018 17:41

@penguina wishing your daughter well.

Is anyone else using a gym ball and getting braxton hicks after? Freaked me out a bit!

Thegirlhasnoname · 06/09/2018 17:56

I saw that Lidl had their baby event on this weekend but I’m not sure that they stock things that could be classed as funky Grin

Filzma · 06/09/2018 20:52

@Penguina poor her, wish your daughter quick recovery. Thanks
Can only imagine how uncomfortable it gets at the hospital with the hard chairs.
