I bought a baby carrier when I was expecting my first. It was used one. Found it too much pressure on my back and she was only a small baby.

Im getting very hormonal even more than I have been my house is just a mess and I don't have the energy to clean it which sends me off on a crying session Blush.

Looking forward to finishing up work and then I will give myself one small task a day to do to make the place a bit better.

How is everyone else feeling?

twobambinos · 26/08/2018 17:14

Oh and have also started on the raspberry leaf tablets.

Filzma · 26/08/2018 18:38

@twobambinos I totally understand how you feel. Try to set small 5-10 min tasks for the day. No pressure if you don't get it done.
I've been pretty weepy myself. The smallest thing sets me off. Was reading a thread on here the other day and I was inconsolable.😂😂

Ooh was thinking of starting the raspberry leaf tea in a week or so.
Are any of you feeling less movement and kicks at this stage?

FromMaddieToMommie · 26/08/2018 19:55

@twobambinos and @Filzma I am feeling rather hormonal at the minute. I burst into tears for no reason at least once a day. I hope it passes soon.

Baby is kicking alright (I'm 32 + 6). I am (or used to be before bump) a size 6 petite and I believe baby is a little on the big side compared to my body so I feel very uncomfortable when it moves and kicks. I do appreciate all the movement though as it lets me know little pumpkin is doing well.

I also really struggle to fit into most of my clothes despite wearing maternity clothing. I don't really want to buy any other clothes for my current body as they won't be useful for after birth in terms of being breastfeeding friendly. I don't think I'll be coming to terms with my mummy-to-be body anytime soon. I love my bump on its own but seeing myself in the mirror makes me cringe.

Anyway, we're nearly there !!!

TinyTerror1 · 27/08/2018 08:54

I was particularly hormonal last night. My yoga teacher tells me the last six weeks of pregnancy is when we're supposed to focus on creating an oxytocin-friendly environment (safe, private, relaxed, comfortable) and reduce adrenaline. Last night was probably a case study in doing the opposite! Still only just 34 weeks so will try again tonight.

Anyone doing/started perineal massage? I think that's from 34 weeks too...

ladydolly · 27/08/2018 12:51

I have an ergobaby and it was worth every penny, the design means no pressure on the pelvis for them. They can be used from 10lbs but you can get a newborn insert. We used ours from when dd was about 3 months until about 18m but it can be used up to about 3 years. It also allows outward facing (but not recommended until they are older). No sling should hurt your back when carrying even after hours. Whatever one you go with its worth researching positioning, its really important for you and baby. www.nct.org.uk/parenting/sling-safety
We also had a close caboo for early days, its less structured and so has a natural bounce which soothes many babies.

Nesters! I hear you!! I need things to be clean and tidy and maximum 'hygge'. Dp is away with dd for a couple of days so will be getting the tidying done. After that just one or 2 jobs done a day should keep me out of trouble!

Hope you're all enjoying a long weekend!

midnight1983 · 28/08/2018 05:56

Yes to being hormonal! I am bursting into tears for no reason at all and it's very frustrating! Also getting very irritated very easily..

@TinyTerror1 - did your yoga teacher have any tips?

Flamingo19 · 28/08/2018 08:18

Very bad mood today! Trod bronzing powder into my carpet and I feel like complaining to Estée Lauder about it despite the fact it’s entirely my own fault Blush On the plus side, 4 working days left then I’m off on holiday

justtowarm · 28/08/2018 08:33

Oh no @Flamingo19 but yay to the holiday :)

I am also with you all in the over emotional camp, I having been crying over nothing, at the time I know the crying is ridiculous but can't stop the tears coming 🙈🙈🙈

TinyTerror1 · 28/08/2018 09:19

@midnight1983 mostly to get your OH to pamper you 😂 but if you focus on those four criteria it should help. So, for example, don't go for a walk on your own at dusk in a fairly deserted park where groups of youths like to hang out 🙄

midnight1983 · 28/08/2018 11:57

@TinyTerror1 I will show my oh this thread then! Not always easy to create a relaxed environment with a four year old around...

Speaking of baby carriers, can anyone recommend one that is easier on the shoulders? Last time I used a baby bjorn and it made my bad shoulder a lot worse. However, I'm not confident with the idea of stretchy wraps, they seem really tricky.

unicornchaser · 28/08/2018 13:10

Have a look at ring slings @midnight1983
I don't think I'll get on with the wrap slings but going to try these ones.....

Hi Ladies Smile I hope you don't mind me joining in the convo!?

I'm a FTM age 35 from Surrey and my due date is 25th Oct 2018 - We are having a baby girl Flowers

Our little lady is our IVF miracle she was the result of our second round of treatment. I am So so grateful but have been left with mental scars and therefore only now just found the courage to get onto a mums to be forum , main reason being is
I've been too nervous thinking something will go wrong or that it's not really happening and I'm dreaming.

So far I've had a pretty easy pregnancy apart from my daily anxiety.

So I'm 31+5days and so far feeling OK still managing to walk into work most mornings and walk the puppy. My MAT leave doesn't start until Oct 20th, feels like a long way off I must be mental.

I am waking up around 4am to pee and then I feel really hungry is this just me ? Do I go and get something to eat or ignore it?

Perineal massage I have brought the oil was wondering can you start early? Will do anything to prevent a tear Shock !

Had a few Hypnobirthing sessions anyone else looked into this?

When are people packing their hospital bags?

Sorry loads of questions! xx

MissKatyKat · 28/08/2018 18:44

Hi @Dbear35 congratulations on your pregnancy, you must be over the moon!
I've only just joined this thread as well. I'm 18 and 34+4, expecting a girl, due 5th October. Long story short baby was very much unplanned and I was originally planning to have her adopted, which is now definitely not happening. I joined mumsnet to get some support and encouragement to face up to telling the dad and my parents which I've now done and I'm feeling quite excited about becoming a mum.
I finish work on Friday but that's because I was originally meant to be going to uni, they don't know about the pregnancy at work. I'm feeling pretty well all in all but I'm also really hungry a lot of the time. I did eat a bar of chocolate at half past two in the morning the other week so I guess if it's bothering you enough then eat when you feel like it.
Sorry I don't really know about perineal massage and I've only started briefly looking at hypnobirthing this week. I'll be packing my hospital bag at the start of next week when I'll be 35 weeks.
I hope you get lots of support on here and that the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly xx

Havetothink · 28/08/2018 18:54

When pregnant and hungry, eat. I've never considered any other course of action (chocolate is probably not the recommended choice but I can't say I haven't done it).

justtowarm · 28/08/2018 19:06

Hello everyone :)

I think my bump dropped over night. My lung capacity has hugely improved and I can barely walk due to SPD/PGP all of a sudden, my bump is suddenly much lower and it few squishy again at the top of my tummy and that had been firmer/I could feel the baby there.

I have no idea how I am going to look after my 2 1/2 year old now 🙈🙈🙈

But it's exciting and makes me feel like the end is getting nearer 😊

CherryPie18 · 28/08/2018 20:42

I’ve been here since the beginning but have name changed! I’m itching SO MUCH! Especially tops of my feet, I’m not sure if to be worried or if it’s just because I’ve started having baths again after only showering for months Confused

midnight1983 · 28/08/2018 21:20

@unicornchaser thank you for the tip I'll take a look!

@CherryPie18 I have had lots of itching too and have had my bile acids tested 4 times in last 8 weeks. This is because itching can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis. Mine have come back with normal levels everytime but they do say to call in to triage each time as levels can build up over time. Not sure if you have called in yet but might be an idea. Probably all is well but it's just a quick blood test.

Has anyone packed their hospital bag yet? I am getting some things for mine tomorrow and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on essentials? Even though this is my second baby all the stuff I knew before has gone out of my head!

twobambinos · 28/08/2018 21:47

@midnight1983 I have my bag packed. Everything and the kitchen sink inside in it. A little over 4 weeks to go.

@cherrypie18 I think Def worth getting the itching checked out.

@justtowarm I was told today by dm that my bump has dropped but no pressure down below so I'm guessing baby has just moved a little. He was head down at my 35 week appointment so hopefully he will stay that way. Have had no extra relief on the breathing front although didn't find it too bad anyway but I have been able to eat today and fingers crossed less heartburn long may this relief last.

Sorry about spd had it on dd2 it's torture. Makes the days feel very long. I'm finding sitting at work tough on my back but will be finishing up soon.

@dbear35 welcome to the fun. I didn't do the massage. Ended up with episiotomy on first. And only a tiny tear/graze on second. All my spare energy goes into having a shower these days and if I have to wash my hair it sometimes reduces me to tears the sheer effort of it so I just can't be ding massages. Hopefully I won't regret it.

Still taking the raspberry leaf tablets. Hopi g they are working their magic.

justtowarm · 28/08/2018 21:55

Thanks @twobambinos the I had really bad SPD with my first this time has been a dream in comparison, this is the first time it's been bad enough to stop me even walking shortish distances....

but now with the baby having dropped being able to eat without my throat burning afterwards easily makes up for it 😂😂😂

Yerp · 28/08/2018 22:06

I’m not sure if I’m having reduced movements today. I’m currently laying on my bed counting kicks and movements on an app. I have had 8 movements ( and one period of hiccups) in the last 30 minutes which seems ok? But it does feel less than normal to me. She’s normally really active in the evening.

unicornchaser · 28/08/2018 22:35

@Yerp I was told by midwife that 10 in an hour while lying on your left side is what they would be looking for before being concerned.

But if your not happy with it then I would say def worth phoning maternity assessment and seeing what they say for peace of mind

RomanyRoots · 28/08/2018 22:40

I won't be offended if you say no, but can I join in?
Mine is a pfb grandchild though, also a little girl, due on 22nd Oct.
I'm very excited for them both, and of course all of you on here.

Question please? How are we sleeping babies these days, it changed with each of ours, one on back, one on front and one on side Grin

Also what can you put in a cot these days? Do we still have bumpers?

CherryPie18 · 29/08/2018 06:40

Is anyone else suffering with leg cramp? I’ve woken up with it today and it’s really driving me mad!

Havetothink · 29/08/2018 07:07

Haven't had as much leg cramp with this pregnancy but had it loads with the last one, very unpleasant. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water and roll and bend your ankles to aid circulation during the day.
