I suspended my gym membership until September and have then changed it to just a swimming membership to do some low impact swimming!

FrowningFlamingo · 29/07/2018 12:25

@Koalatom1 I mentioned them upthread but a friend recommended Ella's prune pouches for pregnancy constipation! I'm finding just half of one a day is really helping - I missed it last night and have really noticed a difference today.

Alicejj8x · 29/07/2018 12:32

@AliceRR
Oh is it. I got my appointment so
Soon so
I think I'm just one of the lucky ones but still
Hoping baby is ok in there

Picklesandpies · 29/07/2018 12:40

Is anyone on here consultant led due to thyroid issues? I had my booking in a couple of weeks ago at 10 weeks but haven't had an appointment through for consultant yet. Wondering whether they have forgotten or maybe it's too early. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow afternoon so can see whether anyone can help then I suppose.

I have also done NO exercise for months now. I really wanted to do swimming as our town has a lovely outdoor pool but couldn't risk it due to morning sickness, which I still have. So desperate to get the 2nd trimester glow (ho ho ho...)

AliceRR · 29/07/2018 12:46

I just called 111 to see what they said about spotting last night. It was literally a spot and I have a bit of cramping but not major and not sure how much of it is in my head as I’m anxious!

He went through the questionnaire and concluded I need to see someone without 2 hours!

On the one hand I want to get checked obviously but I don’t think they would scan me today. On the other I don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill plus we have SS here so I think best way would be to drop him off (which we would do this aft anyway) and then go to appointment...

I asked for later appointment (it’s at 4:15) so we have time to play with but DH has gone our with SS and I am reluctant to call as SS doesn’t know about pregnancy yet...

Picklesandpies · 29/07/2018 12:54

Good luck at your appointment later @AliceRR - I'm sure it will be ok.

Celebelly · 29/07/2018 13:04

Hope everything is OK, Alice. Could you text your husband instead?

I'm craving Chinese but our local doesn't open till 5. BOO. Going to have a nap I think so time passes faster!

IndiX · 29/07/2018 13:55

Haven't been able to catch up yet but had our private scan this morning and baby is looking healthy and VERY wriggly 🙈 I'm 11+1 so it's nice to have a proper date now and I've made a little announcement to all my friends and extended family. I know I haven't had my proper NHS one and testing results yet but just hoping everything will be fine and I couldn't wait to tell everyone.
I forgot how nice everyone was when you told them you were expecting 😂 my phone is going crazy!

Baby160P · 29/07/2018 14:12

@AliceRR if he knows could you text him in code message? Something only he'd get?

Good luck today thinking of you. I'm sure everything is fine xx

Baby160P · 29/07/2018 14:13

@IndiX very exciting!!! Can't wait until everyone knows!!!

AliceRR · 29/07/2018 14:31

Thank you. I managed to speak to him and get appointment for 2:30 so I am now waiting in the waiting room with a full bladder (didn’t empty it in case they want a urine sample!) hoping they don’t take too long and prod on my full bladder... mostly hope baby is ok obviously

bubblybrit · 29/07/2018 14:56

@LookingAtTheStars89. I love Next so might have a look next week as I’m off on holiday. Oh that’s exciting that you will also be finding out the sex.....not long to go now! Perhaps our little ones will have matching outfits lol 😀 I’m usually a size 12 so definitely have a little bump although to many I’m sure that it just looks as if I have over indulged! Lol xx

emalady · 29/07/2018 15:06

@camsie vitamin d is still needed, nothing else unless you have risk factors for pre-eclampsia and have to be on aspirin.

@alicerr good luck, sounds like it's probably nothing but I would want the reassurance.

I'm going to be consultant led as ivf pregnancy and I'm a fatty but no thyroid issues. Not sure when I will actually see them though.

Anyone started thinking about when they are planning to start leave? We have to book annual leave for the next calendar year in September, trying to decide when to take annual leave and when to start maternity.

1stTimeTina · 29/07/2018 15:12

@powkin ours is on our wedding anniversary too!!

craftymum01 · 29/07/2018 15:31

Good luck @AliceRR

Yakadee · 29/07/2018 15:34

@emalady - I don't have to book mine that soon but with my first I left just 2 weeks before my due date and that was totally manageable (although was SO ready!).

Going to aim to do the same this time as would prefer to have the time off after with baby rather than before (although that depends on how your pregnancy goes I guess) x

Lookingforadvice123 · 29/07/2018 15:38

Good luck AliceRR!

I've caved and just sent a booking request for another scan on Wednesday - will be just over 10 weeks and it's 2 weeks Tuesday until the 12 week scan so that breaks it up nicely.

Yes I've worked out my leave haha. I get 6 months full pay followed by the usual 12 weeks on statutory, so my plan is to finish at 37 weeks like I did with DS (he was born at 39), take 9 months maternity and then a few weeks annual leave, and go back mid January 2020. I'll finish first week of February 2019 so it'll be almost a year off, around 11 months. I had the same with DS and it was a nice amount of time.

Celebelly · 29/07/2018 16:01

I'm self-employed so I'm going to stop taking on work at Christmas and use Jan to finish off any remaining bits and get admin all sorted. Will probably take the full 39 weeks maternity allowance and then go back to work and see how much I can do.

DP is going to take his two weeks paid paternity and two weeks holiday. He gets six weeks paid holiday a year so we are quite fortunate. He'll be around for the whole first month and said he is going to be a house husband while I'm a 'baby-feeding machine'. It will be so nice to not have to think about cooking or cleaning!

Yakadee · 29/07/2018 16:09

6 months full pay is amazing! We get 7 weeks full lol x

Since2016 · 29/07/2018 16:14

I'm still undecided. I get 8 weeks full pay, 16 weeks half pay. So it works out to be around 6 months. Plus I have 33 days of annual leave per year which I'll add a lot onto at the end. So 7 months paid, and then it depends how long we can stretch out the rest. We're going to try to move house next year though so I'd need to ensure we could afford a bigger mortgage. I'd like to stay off till babe is 10 months but not sure how doable that is. Depends on house move really! I took 10 months mat, 2 months leave with DD. It was too long tbh I was bored out of my brain by November... so we'll see!

welshweasel · 29/07/2018 16:18

I had 3 months maternity plus a months holiday with DS - think I’ll try to take a little more this time but I’ll definitely go back by 6 months - I am not a huge fan of the baby stage!

Baby160P · 29/07/2018 16:25

I get statuary which I believe is 6 weeks at 90% wave then the basic amount

FrowningFlamingo · 29/07/2018 17:08

I'm hoping to take as close to a whole year as I can and DH seems pretty on board with that which I'm pleased about. I work 4 days now (condensed hours - about 44hrs/week) but will probably drop down to 2 days initially when I go back.
We are probably going to do some maternity finance maths tonight so that's all subject to change!! I have recently fully qualified in my job which means I had a 50% payrise. We managed absolutely fine on my wage before and DH has had a payrise himself since so we are going to work out how far off our previous money we will be when I'm on leave overall. That should help us to decide!! Although we have a bigger mortgage now. I find the calculations really hard to work out, especially with accrued annual leave, probably KIT days and stuff. Already dreading trying to sort it all out!

Since2016 · 29/07/2018 17:18

I'll be honest, my biggest anxiety is sleep and feeding. I fed DD till she was 15 months and she was (still is) a nightmare with sleep. She was still waking every 2 hours when I went back to work when she was 12 months and never took a bottle or a dummy. Agh! Not sure how I'd cope back at work at 6 months and still EBF.... hoping this one will take a bottle!!

welshweasel · 29/07/2018 17:20

@since2016 DS was a dream sleeper and I’m so worried I’m going to get the opposite this time! BF didn’t work out for us and I’m undecided as to whether to give it another go or just go straight for formula in the hope I get another good sleeper. It made going back to work early so much easier too.
