@chocpop @FrowningFlamingo there is a hospital near me that does not let you know the gender at the 20w scan. This was because they noticed that many families were seeking terminations if it was a girl.

twiglet · 26/07/2018 21:30

Coco drink a glass of water 30 mins before your scan it helps see the baby you only need a glass not a pint.
Yes your right they don't offer it in N. Ireland unless you have a history or age related.
Your only option would be for private I'm afraid it's something that my friend (and I) found shocking as she had her first in England so presumed it was the same.
They can only do the nuchal at 12 weeks which is a downs probability scoring. The anomaly scan which is for more elements such as Edwards syndrome is at 18-20ish weeks. So you might want to wait if having to go private.

Baby160P · 26/07/2018 21:39

I've just been bitten by a bug, not a mosquito and not sure what but I have 4 very painful tiny bites in my mid of my tummy just below by boobs.

Any advice? 😩

No antihistamine obviously allowed and I'm sure it wont harm the pregnancy but anyone experienced this?

I've used ice.

craftymum01 · 26/07/2018 21:56

I use Aloe Vera gel on bites. Helps take the heat and itch out of them

Cheery1 · 26/07/2018 21:56

Fingers crossed @lanalaw and @maxiflump, proper nervous here (and very hot)! Sleep will be interesting tonight.

Having to take DS with us, I guess he’ll keep occupied rather than worrying!

MakeLemonade · 26/07/2018 22:08

@Baby160P you can def take an antihistamine if you’re struggling with the itching, both loratadine and cetirizine hydrochloride fine for pregnancy.

Re breastfeeding, it’s definitely all down to how much help you have. With my first I mixed fed, she was in NICU so had problems exclusively bfing due to having had nasal tube etc. Second time around I wanted to have a better crack at it so I hired a lactation consultant, best money I spent on any baby related things! Breastfed successfully until DD2 was one.

Baby160P · 26/07/2018 22:21

Oooo good idea @craftymum01

I'll try that before tablets

FrowningFlamingo · 26/07/2018 22:58

That’s terrible DragonFlew - so horrible to think people would terminate for that reason. My cousin lives in Hong Kong and they don’t tell you there for the same reason :(

clairehr · 27/07/2018 06:18

Good luck to everyone with scans today.

@hayleyfx Fingers crossed and positive thoughts being sent your way.

IndiX · 27/07/2018 06:40

Good luck for anyone with scans today!

My edd at the MW appt was feb 9th but think that may change when I have my scan.

Also anyone else's boobs suddenly had a MASSIVE growth spurt?! Mine are enormous and so tender 😫

twiglet · 27/07/2018 07:04

@hayleyfx thoughts and hugs are with you and your DP today Flowers

Alicejj8x · 27/07/2018 07:16

@hayleyfx thinking of you today x

Yakadee · 27/07/2018 07:22

Good luck to everyone today x

DragonFlew · 27/07/2018 07:45

@hayleyfx good luck today, sending positive vibes!

@IndiX yes! Since about 6 weeks they've become massive! Tender at times but my nips are so so sensitive! I'm trying to wait un til after 12w to buy anything pregnancy related but I'm desperate for some new bras now!

clairehr · 27/07/2018 08:11

@IndiX Yep! Had a massive spurt over the last two weeks, nipples are sore and sensitive and I'm getting veins too... the joys of pregnancy 😂 Need to go and get measured, but like DragonFlew trying to wait until 12 weeks (superstition).

FrowningFlamingo · 27/07/2018 08:32

Good luck today hayleyfx, we will all be thinking of you.
My boobs have mostly stopped hurting now but my nipples are really sensitive - and not in a good way!!!
While I'm over-sharing... can't remember who else said they were suffering with constipation but I was on the border of getting some medicine for it and my GP friend said she used her DDs Ella's pouches, the prune ones, when she was pregnant for the second time. I only had half a pouch last night but it seems to have worked a miracle! Could be coincidence of course but I'll keep having them for now!

Yakadee · 27/07/2018 08:41

My boobs are ridiculous! Hardly fitting in my bras at all, defo need an upgrade soon!

Also whilst we're sharing, I'm actually really regular but really rather the opposite of constipated? Have been for weeks! Not uncomfortable or anything just random? Is it just me? X

craftymum01 · 27/07/2018 08:44

lol @Frowningflamingo Ella's prune pouches were my go to when my little boy was constipated. Never thought of using them as an adult.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 27/07/2018 08:56

@hayleyfx. Good luck for today x

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/07/2018 08:59

Tip for constipation - ground flax seed! I was struggling where I'm usually really regular, but I started putting a spoonful of this on my cereal in the morning and I'm back to once a day.

powkin · 27/07/2018 09:19

@Yakadee - no not just you! The heat tends to make mine worse. Sweating in 35 degrees plus vomiting plus that is a recipw for a fun week!

Since2016 · 27/07/2018 09:19

Good luck for scans today! I've been struggling with constipation too. Back on prune juice - guaranteed!

I'm exhausted today. I feel utterly flattened. Tired is my default - toddler, long commute, working, but today I just feel destroyed!

My boobs have definitely grown but not sore like with DD. I went from an A to an F 😳 with DD. (I looked like I'd had a boob job) Have been a C/D since I stopped BF. Now definitely more DD. My lovely friend has just had a baby and has donated lots of clothes and soft bras. A dream!

Yakadee · 27/07/2018 09:25

@powkin - I know, the heat is killing me! Last night was terrible!

To be honest, I'm just glad to not be constipated as it's awful, I feel for you ladies.

@Celebelly - I got my results back now - I managed to get a number and they were lovely. All ok and risk is low xx

powkin · 27/07/2018 09:31

@Since2016 - mine are already a 34F and bursting at the seams! I got some soft cup crop top type bras in Tesco. The Large size fits me and they are nice for being at home as they offer some support without being constructing. Not that flattering but hey ho.

Yakadee · 27/07/2018 09:36

@powkin I'm wearing my old maternity bras like that for just around the house. Not at all flattering but SO comfy! X
