@wineandchoccy wish you hadn’t just mentioned Mac Donald’s!!!! 😂😂😂😂

Wineandchoccy · 22/07/2018 08:41

Not me Grin Goatlady5812 blame MistakenHoliday although it does sound a great idea Smile

thefirsttimer · 22/07/2018 08:41

Morning! How is everyone getting on? Sorry to hear those of you who are also suffering with the sickness side of things!

I was suffering on and off up until 7 weeks, but it's hit me like a train since. Vomiting four or five times a day and haven't been able to keep any food down at all. I've actually lost 6kg in weight just since my booking in appointment! Have been prescribed some anti-emetics now, but only going to take them when it's really bad, I think. DH has been a godsend and is doing absolutely everything around the house, bless him!

I really take my hat off to those of you with DC already - I honestly don't know how I'll do this with one to look after already next time Shock.

Wineandchoccy · 22/07/2018 08:47

thefirsttimer that sounds rough sorry you have been feeling so sick.

I have only been sick a few times but feel like I have a hangover most days and so lightheaded and dizzy.

Wineandchoccy · 22/07/2018 08:48

I have my booking in appointment tomorrow I’m strangely looking forward to the boring form filling to make it official and hopefully get a scan date.

MistakenHoliday · 22/07/2018 09:16

@Wineandchoccy @Goatlady5812 want me to get you something?! Although I sense my MIL stirring so I may have left it too late to make my escape...

BadBadBeans · 22/07/2018 09:46

@thefirsttimer that sounds horrendous, you poor thing! I didn't vomit once with DS so can only imagine how wearing it must be. That is a huge amount of weight to lose so quickly - I hope they are keeping a close eye on you!

Still dizzy here. Still wacky dreams (last night Neville from Harry Potter was laying a black brick floor in my living room Hmm). But nothing else. My only sickness a stinking cold courtesy of DH - marvellous!

Murphyrocks · 22/07/2018 10:09

@thefirsttimer I feel you, been throwing up several times a day for weeks and already lost 3-4kg, when I didn't have much to lose in the first place! Bmi down from 21.5 to 20. Yet my doctor still refuses to prescribe me anti-emetics because of the risk! Last time around the sickness peaked at 7-8 weeks and was gone by 10-11, so given I'm 7+4 now I'm holding out hope that it will start improving soon. As you say parenting 1 1/2 children (DS and DSS part time) really doesn't help matters!

thefirsttimer · 22/07/2018 10:10

Thank you @Wineandchoccy and @BadBadBeans - sorry you're both feeling dizzy! Are you managing to eat enough? I don't suppose the weather has been helping! We have rain at the moment but it's still been really muggy.

Good luck for tomorrow @Wineandchoccy I received my scan date only a few days after booking in, but I've heard some people find out there and then which would be nice. Hopefully you'll be one of those!

@MistakenHoliday did you manage the McDonalds run?! Once my sickness has subsided I've got my name on a sausage and egg McMuffin, with TWO hash browns Grin

mostimproved · 22/07/2018 10:11

@thefirsttimer oh no that sounds awful, hope the anti emetics give you some relief. My sickness has improved in the last couple of weeks but I'm really struggling with dizziness - I can't stand up for any length of time which means DP has to do all washing up and cooking! I've got a week off work now staying with family so at least I can remain horizontal.

@Wineandchoccy I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow as well and am looking forward to making it 'official' as well even though it will be quite boring. I'm going to ask about having an ELCS as well so hopefully there's no push back.

thefirsttimer · 22/07/2018 10:15

Sorry epic bold fail there!

@Murphyrocks sorry to hear you're still suffering so much! Fingers crossed you'll follow the same pattern as last time. I can understand the reluctance to dish out anti-emetics for everyone, but when you're losing weight when as you said you haven't got much to lose in the first place - that surely should be a good enough reason. Luckily I had the spare kilos to lose in the first place and then some but it's not what you expect really is it. You're a superstar for getting on with things whilst having your DS and DSS to think of, I think I'd have to ship them off to their grandparents for a few weeks Grin

thefirsttimer · 22/07/2018 10:19

@mostimproved oh no, not you too with the dizziness! It seems to be hitting everyone at the moment doesn't it. A week off sounds ideal, hope that helps somewhat. Good luck for your booking in and ELCS request, hope they take your wishes on board straight away.

Jenlou1992 · 22/07/2018 10:32

Seems like everyone is getting the sickness good and proper. I have not yet vomitted . Hope i don't start to either. I don't have my app at my GP till the 30th! Was the earliest I could get and I'm in work . Don't want to rearrange it because I will have waited 3 weeks for it. Will just tell my manager. We are supposed to be allowed time out for medical app. Then I should be due my 12 week scan around 4 weeks following that. Will I get to see a midwife before a scan is booked then ? Sorry is my first pregnancy and I'm not sure how it all works .

frenchgal · 22/07/2018 10:35

Hey. Since I have been travelling for work in Africa, I have found difficult to exercise every day like I usually do. I am much more tired than before, so I only exercise every other day (usually a treadmill and weights workout). I am really keen to have a fit pregnancy and want to limit the weight gain. I am 8+5 and my weight is exactly the same as pre pregnancy. In the last year I lost two stones and am now at a healthy BMI, but any tip would be welcome to have a healthy pregnancy.

Also I have been doing my pelvic floor exercises (downloaded the NHS app 'squeeze')- has anyone tried Elvie? Looks quite pricey.

Wineandchoccy · 22/07/2018 11:01

Jenlou1992 Do you have to see the GP first?
Here we ring the GP reception and say we are pregnant and they give you the midwife booking in appt number.
You normally have booking in appt and they refer you for a scan you either get appt details on the day or a letter.

MistakenHoliday · 22/07/2018 11:02

@thefirsttimer I did! It's managed to tamp down the queasiness for a bit. Not I have to do ALL THE NORMAL THINGS I can in the hour I have before I start feeling sick again 🙄

I hope your sickness stops soon - it's just so grim and isolating isn't it?

Angelmiracle · 22/07/2018 11:16

I'm so sorry to hear those of you being sick! I had bad nausea with DS hope that's all I will have this time!

Have any of you tried the anti sicknesses/travel bands? My poor auntie had HG with all 4 of her kids but now she is going though chemo and swears by the bands! She also said the side effects of chemo are bearable in comparison to HG!!

I'm in the dizzy camp too!! I wasn't sure if it was preg or a medication I've stopped taking - but I was already mostly weaned off of it.

I woke at 1.45am queasy and warm and had to get up for tea and toast. Wide awake to 6.30am 😭 DH very kindly took DS out this morning to give me a lie in 😊

Murphyrocks · 22/07/2018 11:21

@Jenlou1992 yes you are legally entitled to time off work for your appointments so if that's the time you've been given work has to manage around it.

@thefirsttimer the closest grandparents are 200 miles away or yes I'd be sorely tempted! But tbh ds is a very low maintenance child and sleeps reliably and DSS is only here every other weekend so it's manageable. Plus they're a good distraction!

Apparently they only worry about weight loss if it's more than 10% of your body weight - last time I very much made up for lost time once I felt better and ended up gaining over 20kg so doing my best not to worry!

Jenlou1992 · 22/07/2018 11:22

wineandchoccy ahhh maybe thats what i need to do . I will ring them tomorrow and see what I am to do. I was thinking it was just going to be a wasted app as the GP would just refer me on to the midwives

puravida31 · 22/07/2018 11:31

@Jenlou1992 it seems to vary depending where you live, but most areas seem to have a booking in appointment with a midwife before the scan. Down here (Hampshire) they’re not giving me a booking in appointment until 11 weeks, and then the scan the next week. But I know some ladies on here have already met with a midwife. Where abouts do you live?

Orville82 · 22/07/2018 12:03

I’m almost quite relieved some of you are feeling dizzy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not wishing it on anyone but that and slightly tender boobs are all I’m grasping hold of symptom-wise!

Sorry for those of you with sickness. I didn’t have it badly last time, but it got worse as the day went in so by evening I could just about force down a dairylea dunker for dinner. I think I lost just shy of a stone in the first 12 weeks. I seem to have the opposite problem this time Shock. I hope it calms down for everyone soon.

Welcome @DannyWallace (actually love him) and @Nightmanagerfan - I’m sorry to hear about your last pregnancy. Keeping everything crossed this one has a better outcome.

@Frenchgal don’t push yourself too hard exercise-wise, particularly in the first trimester. You’ll have soooooo much more energy when you reach about 12-14 weeks that you can get back in track. Your body will do as it pleases though. I excercised and ate relatively healthily last time right up to the end and still put on over 3 stone! Definitely keep up with the pelvic floors. You’ve just reminded me to start mine again. I thought I’d be fine last time until I caught a cough at 20 weeks and there was cough/wee incident which gave me the kick up the bum I needed Grin

I have FIL and his wife staying this weekend. We haven’t told them about this pregnancy but he turned round to me yesterday with “So I’d like a granddaughter now. I’m bored of boys” (he has 3 grandsons including my DS1). I’m absolutely raging and now and would be thrilled with any sex and long as it’s healthy, but I’m now scared DS1 would be tossed aside if we had a girl. Why is he such a knob head ?! Angry

Sorry for the swears. I’m quite a sweary person when I write!

Murphyrocks · 22/07/2018 13:06

@Orville82 people can be so insensitive sometimes can't they?! Particularly when we so emotional anyway. Literally the first thing my Dad said after I told him was 'daughter this time?' as we already have ds and dss - yes it would be lovely to have a girl but we have no control over it and would be good to feel baby would be equally welcomed regardless of gender! Surely there are more important things?! Anyone else feeling gender pressure?!

Jenlou1992 · 22/07/2018 13:18

puravida31 thanks I live in Manchester. My older sister has children but don't want to ask her what she did because I'm not planning to tell her till 12 weeks. Will ring the Doctors tomorrow and see what they suggest .

TheWanderlust · 22/07/2018 13:27

@Murphyrocks the OH has said a few times he hopes we get a boy - it's usually in good humour so I'm hoping it is exactly that and he won't be disappointed if our first baby is a girl.

We fully intend on finding out at the 20 week scan... only 12 weeks to wait!! 🙈

I'm also getting the dizzy waves. Have to stand up and hold onto something for up to a minute before I start walking so I don't stack it and end up a blabbering mess on the floor.

I seem to get 2 main waves of nausea at the moment. One as soon as I wake up if I don't get a biscuit down within the first ten minutes and then it gets progressively worse throughout the day as @Orville82 said until evening which is like a full on washing machine cycle! Thankfully not actually been sick yet as I am completely phobic.

@Jenlou1992 you may be similar to my GP ... I had to see her for blood pressure, height and weight check so that she could refer to our local midwives. Our surgery operates shared care so they will always try to see me at the surgery on a Friday unless I develop a complication that needs consultant led management in hospital ( and scans of course)

BadBadBeans · 22/07/2018 14:08

@Murphyrocks our family don't know yet, but when they do find out I know they will be hoping for a girl. My MIL has two boys, her eldest son has two boys, and her youngest (my DH) obviously has one. And on my side of the family there hasn't been a girl born for about 12 or 13 years - but there have been four boys born in that time! I know they will be happy either way really, but I also know people would get extra excited for a girl. Sorry some of you have already had stupid comments about the sex. What are people like?!
