How do i disable the email alerts that i get for whenever someone posts on this chat? My phone has been pinging non stop! Lol

orangekitkat13 · 18/07/2018 22:53

@Bas27 I would keep an eye on those cramps, one sided is a possible sign of an ectopic. Don't want to panic you but might be worth getting checked.

pushit · 18/07/2018 22:54

@frenchgal I agree, wonder weeks app is good. But generally books are so unhelpful. I read some when baby was a newborn and wished I hadn't as I kept thinking I was doing everything wrong; books tend to be opinionated either in an attachment parenting way or a routine type way. I found my own instincts were in between so I felt I was always wrong!!
I did however enjoy reading 'why French children don't throw food' about parenting and being a mum. Your name reminded me!!

Orville82 · 18/07/2018 23:36

Yes @Wineandchoccy! Or make sure we weren’t visiting family so the grandparents didn’t think he was a total twat baby.Grin

ladycarlotta · 19/07/2018 00:23

Hi all! Just catching up! Sorry I haven't been about much - been away with work since Friday and somehow got locked out of my account for a bit, but here I am. All is well. I'm in NYC for work rn, and hooooweeee jetlag and morning sickness is a doozy of a combination. I don't recommend it. Flying back tomorrow night just as I start to acclimatise.

Hope all is well with everybody. @RachaelT crikey, I'm so sorry lumpy has been upgraded to tumour! Fingers crossed that is much less dramatic than it sounds. I guess if they aren't hastening your appointments that's a good sign? Thinking of you.

HidCat · 19/07/2018 07:05

@rab1991 I think it's on the website rather than the app that you set your email preferences.

MistakenHoliday · 19/07/2018 07:11

Morning ladies!

@Murphyrocks @BadBadBeans I started in the pool with my first and got out pretty quickly because I felt like an egg floating around in the water and couldn't grip on anything! I regretted asking for one as soon as I took the TENS machine off but was too polite to back out because of how long it had taken to fill the birthing pool 😂

@Marmite2018 I've told my boss and line manager. Mainly because I feel so poorly but also because by the time we get back from summer break I'll be 15 weeks and I think that's the cut off to tell employers?

Murphyrocks · 19/07/2018 07:14

@MistakenHoliday I didn't use a tens machine last time but was considering one this time - would you recommend it? Also I think the cutoff for telling employers is 15 weeks before baby is due rather than 15 weeks pregnant?

MistakenHoliday · 19/07/2018 07:17

@Murphyrocks ah! That makes more sense! Ah well, the deed is done now 😂

Would DEFINITELY recommend a TENS, it was amazing for pain relief, even up to quite near the end. I rented mine (from Mothercare, I think?) and it was really easy to set up and then return after the birth.

Murphyrocks · 19/07/2018 07:26

OK thanks @MistakenHoliday!

Wineandchoccy · 19/07/2018 07:36

Murphyrocks I bought a tens machine off eBay think it was £10. I didn’t think it was doing anything until I took it off I soon put it back on, can recommend buying/hiring one.

orangefolly · 19/07/2018 07:48

Hi everyone

Mind if I join? I have been wanting to for a couple of days but just been finding it so hard to believe it's really true!

I'm 36
EDD 23 March
1st DC

We got here through IVF and I'm really excited I'm pregnant but also terrified it won't last! Got my HCG levels confirmed by the clinic yesterday though, so I need to try and relax Smile

Mumtobe34 · 19/07/2018 07:49

Morning
I've been awake since 5am for no reason, and I'm exhausted 😩 I'm out on the road today, probably another long day at work... looking forward to the weekend. As someone said earlier, not sure how you go through this with a baby/toddler, mums are superheroes.

@Marmite2018 I'm 7w+3 and I told my manager when I found out at 5w just because of the hazards at work. I was terrified as I have only just joined his team, but he's been lovely. Hope it goes well for you too.

We told a couple of close friends last weekend. They're delighted and it feels great to share the good news with the love ones. Most of my friends and family live abroad, I'll get to see them just after the 12w scan as we're flying over for a wedding. I'm planning to book a private scan while we're there just so my mum can come and see the little peanut. It'd be a nice surprise for her im sure ☺️ what about you? Have you been telling people yet? It's hard to keep the secret 🙊

PS: sorry for the bible i just wrote 👆🏼🙈

LuckyKitty13 · 19/07/2018 07:50

Hello! Please may I join
I'm 27
Number 1!
Due 14th March
I'm now 6 weeks exactly today according to LMP, but I know I ovulated late - approx day 20 of cycle so that might muck up the dates.

I'm having a little panic because when I called GP to book in, I also had to change my address as we have moved house. I received a phone call from the midwife and have my appointment booked, but then the next day I received a letter saying I'm now out of the catchment area and need to register somewhere else. Can I still keep my booking in appointment? Are Midwives attached to the surgeries or depress?

hamandpease · 19/07/2018 07:54

I could cry I'm so tired. In fact I did yesterday. I thought I would sail through the first trimester I never get sick but this is much harder than I thought it would be. I'm constantly nauseous and constantly tired and burst into tears ten times a day Confused

Bluebelltulip · 19/07/2018 08:12

Welcome to the new people.

@luckykitty I would ring the midwife, mine works across multiple surgeries so you may be fine. Midwife's tend to be district as opposed to gp specific.

RachaelT · 19/07/2018 08:17

@hamandpease I'm the same, constantly feel like crying... dreading a shouty customer at work as I'd bawl my eyes out!

Orville82 · 19/07/2018 08:18

Welcome @LuckyKitty13. Congratulations! I’m due in the 13th according to LMP but I’m certain I ovulate late too so will be interesting to see how our due dates change. Hm with regards the MW I would guess that they probably have people on their books based on their address, but I would just call them up directly today and check so you don’t fall through the net.

In other news I finally got my BFP on one of my crappy bulk load pregnancy tests. I got two negatives last week, including on the day I got my BFP from a digital. Nice to see a progression but considering it’s 18 days after AF was due I won’t be wasting a whole pound on those again any time soon!

frenchgal · 19/07/2018 08:41

@Murphyrocks yeah tens machines are awesome! I used Livia for awful periods pain and it really helps. Livia is pretty expensive but there are cheaper ones

frenchgal · 19/07/2018 08:43

Thanks @pushit I'll definitely check out the book about french kids and the wonder week's app.

Murphyrocks · 19/07/2018 08:48

Hi @orangefolly and @LuckyKitty13, congrats on your bfps!

Thanks for the recommendation @Wineandchoccy, a couple of my NCT group Mums recommended too so I think I might try it this time. One of them might have one I could borrow from them, would rather know where it came from if possible!

@hamandpease and @RachaelT sorry you're both feeling so rubbish, I'm ridiculously emotional/sick/exhausted too but I'm actually feeling slightly less like death warmed up this morning so am hopeful I might be over the worst - it peaked a little past the 7 week mark for me last time in terms of sickness and exhaustion and I'm 7+1 now so would tie in nicely. Perhaps a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and to give you guys a bit of hope too? It can't go on forever right?!

hamandpease · 19/07/2018 08:56

Other people at work are going to guess, I'm working from home a lot more frequently than ever before 🙄

8w scan tomorrow morning v nervous

ALRM · 19/07/2018 10:18

Hello all, VERY tentatively joining! I have read through the whole thread (But not the first one) and feel like I know you all now... like a weird stalker 🙈. So sorry for the losses already experienced.

I am 5+2 today, edd 20th March, 36 and in Surrey.

Quite a complicated history with one MMC 14 months ago at 10 weeks, one live ectopic with tube removal 8 months ago and a CP 5 months ago. Because of ectopic I have to refer straight to EPU and because of that I have a scan TODAY! Scary stuff. Had anyone else had a scan that early? I guess they are just looking to see if they can find it in the right place but there is still the potential that I come out of today with a PUL and just more worry. I also massively overheated working outside at the weekend so that made me worry too. Gosh this makes me sound like such a worrier!

Sorry for the essay!

Wineandchoccy · 19/07/2018 11:03

Welcome ALRM what a tough time you have had I’m sorry you have had losses it’s really hard and so unfair.
Hope the scan goes ok today

MistakenHoliday · 19/07/2018 12:13

@Wineandchoccy I was exactly the same - regretted it the instant I took it off last time!
