Hello! Hoping I can join you all 😬
I just got my BFP, this will be my DC2, due 24th march. DS1 is 8months just gone, so this is going to be interesting! We live in London, I am 26 and have had some MCs so am anxious however trying to be positive! Last pregnancy I had to take heprain injections, progesterone and aspirin as I had bleeding and because of previous MCs, but this time am just going to go with the flo. I thought about should I go and see a private doctor and ask re previous medications but I just thought I would leave it until I have any issues, which hopefully I won’t!
Can’t wait to get chatting, and I hope everyone else is well.

Bas27 · 18/07/2018 18:03

Hi @Jadeelx and @toastfiend

Is anyone having/has had one sided cramps that are quite strong? Doesn't hurt - more of a strong dull ache.

Jenfur · 18/07/2018 18:13

I've been having continual pains in both sides, mainly brought on after I've been walking. If I speed up, I feel like I have a stitch immediately. When resting, it just feels a bit like a stretched muscle of sorts - google seems to suggest its uterus stretching but seems weird to be so soon and taking up so much of my body.

HidCat · 18/07/2018 18:23

@Jenfur I have the same - I think it's the ligaments rather than the uterus though.

Welcome to the newcomers!

RachaelT · 18/07/2018 18:38

Just been reading all the material from the midwife today and I've got a print out of the referral to the hospital for booking in... it says Lumpy is a "? ovarian tumour" that sounds far more scary than the lump I'd been told about ShockConfused

Murphyrocks · 18/07/2018 19:13

@RachaelT that does sound pretty scary - did the midwife say anything about it?

Welcome to the newbies!

RachaelT · 18/07/2018 19:15

No she didn't @Murphyrocks - guess I've just got to wait for my consultant appointment on 7th August!

BadBadBeans · 18/07/2018 20:04

@Murphyrocks Goodness, you had a stroke during childbirth? Or have I misunderstood and it was your sister? What an awful experience, either way. I know what you mean about feeling a bit wistful about not having a more natural experience. I had so, so wanted a water birth first time round, but the induction meant I couldn't even labour in water, and then I ended up EMCS anyway. Due to various factors, if I get that far then I will be asking for ELCS this time round. Actually, my GP, when I saw him yesterday said that his wife had had three C-sections, and that his personal feeling was that it was better not to try for VBAC if you don't have a really burning desire to. Interesting, as I know that lots of midwives have the opposite opinion!

Welcome to all the newbies.

@RachaelT is it worth speaking to your GP about it to find out a bit more so that you go to the consultant prepared with questions? It must feel a long time to wait till the 7th August. How are you feeling about it? x

RachaelT · 18/07/2018 20:09

@BadBadBeans - happier just waiting for the expert to tell me, I've found a lump on my breast before and got through to sitting in an office with a cancer nurse in case it turned out to be that, it turned out to not be but they couldn't diagnose exactly what it was!

Murphyrocks · 18/07/2018 20:12

@BadBadBeans sorry I may not have been clear - my ds suffered a stroke in utero during childbirth and suffered seizures shortly after birth. Their best guess is that a blood clot came off the placenta during or shortly before labour which travelled to his brain causing an infarction, so I guess it makes sense they're going to extra cautious about placental flow and that all is OK particularly during late pg.

I had some of my labour in the water but I ended up on a drip so couldn't get back in, was hoping to do the water birth thing this time around but looks like that's not to be 😔

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 20:14

Ugh very long day at work spent 7 hours in my car M6 was gridlocked, I’m hot and tired. DH has made me a salad but I can’t be bothered to eat it I really fancy a milkshake but we don’t have anySad I cried at the services because I just wanted to go home Blush

frenchgal · 18/07/2018 20:15

@Bas27 @Jenfur yeah I have these cramps and also really painful one sided lower back cramps (never had these before in my life, so definitely pregnancy related, my physio said it's not only due to uterus stretching but also hormones).

8+1 day and thousands of miles away, for work, in Malawi.

Does anyone feel exhausted ? I usually work out every day but today I decided to nap instead - so tired!

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 20:16

I really wanted a water birth last time but my waters went and then had to be induced due to irregular contractions would love to get the opportunity this time

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 20:17

frenchgal yes I’m shattered could sleep for England. Wow Malawi that’s some work trip

mostimproved · 18/07/2018 20:22

@Bas7 @Jenfur @frenchgal I'm also getting cramps, mine is a dull ache like period pain with the odd random twinge, and I've also got the one-sided lower back pain. In my last pregnancy I had this and it got worse unfortunately so this time round I want to try physio earlier and see if that can make a difference.

BadBadBeans · 18/07/2018 20:23

@RachaelT I'm a veteran of breast lump investigations too, but I've not been nearly as patient as you seem to be while waiting! Well done for being so calm and I hope it all gets resolved easily. Keep us posted.

@Murphyrocks I'm so sorry, I misunderstood; how horrendous and frightening that must have been for you all. Yes, I can see why they would want to monitor closely. I was a bit sad about letting go of the idea of really 'experiencing' childbirth, and especially as I had really, really wanted to do it drug-free(!). I had visualised a water birth so intensely, and the operating table was a bit of a different experience! But it was still a good experience. I hope you can still have a positive experience this time round, despite the monitoring x

@Wineandchoccy awh! Can you blitz up some fruit and milk to make a milkshake?

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 20:29

BadBadBeans good idea let’s hope I have something in the fruit bowl other than oranges Grin

Marmite2018 · 18/07/2018 20:39

@frenchgal I am also exhausted. I was asleep by 8:30 last night. I finally managed to be sick today, have to say it only helped long enough for me to eat some lunch and then felt crap again about an hour later. I am SO over this already.

Anyone else a complete hormonal mess? Had a meltdown on the phone to my Mum today because of how awful I'm feeling, people at work have started to notice I'm not feeling great. Think I'm going to need to tell my head teacher tomorrow, I was hoping to hold out but with the summer holidays and people commenting on me not being well I think I should probably say something... even if it is early days. Has anyone told their employers yet? How did it go? Were you as nervous as I feel about it?

frenchgal · 18/07/2018 20:48

@mostimproved There's a good place that does prenatal Pilates on reformers, every class is taught by a physio- it's called ten and they have several locations in london, you should check it out.

I am in awe of all of you who have other children to take care of and cannot nap all evening! Superstars!

On a complete different topic: any parenting book you could recommend ? I'd like to read about babies, parenting, sleep training - basically about being a MUM! (Sounds weird to even say it, don't think at eight weeks it has sunk in yet).

Murphyrocks · 18/07/2018 20:52

@Marmite2018 I told my employer at 6 weeks because of being signed off work - I was terrified but most people are really understanding and he was lovely about it. Hope you have a similar experience.

@RachaelT you are so much calmer than I would be, well done for taking it in your stride!

@BadBadBeans yes it was awful at the time but thankfully there's no lasting effects and ds is a perfectly healthy happy toddler so all worked out for the best. Just that they said there was no greater risk of it happening again so was hoping it wouldn't make me high risk. Will discuss with the consultant when we speak to them.

@Wineandchoccy I've been sending dh out on random food runs whenever I fancy something, poor guy has become a total errand boy!

Bluebelltulip · 18/07/2018 20:55

@frenchgal I didn't bother with parenting books as such and a key thing to remember is the baby hasn't read them but I would recommend looking at the wonder weeks which helps you understand the babies mental development leaps and why their behaviour might change.

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 21:03

This was the only book I had last time it has a day by day of what’s happening during pregnancy. I think it has a section on looking after baby afterwards as well

HidCat · 18/07/2018 21:06

@frenchgal When I had DS I hadn't read any baby books but when feeding at 3am stumbled on the Baby Whisperer and found that really helpful. Whatever you read though just remember to adapt your parenting style to suit your family as we all do things in our own way.

Orville82 · 18/07/2018 21:36

@frenchgal I can second Wonder Weeks. It helps you understand why your baby is an angel one minute and then has a total freak out for days or weeks. I personally didn’t read any books, just googled ideas for when I was struggling to help me work through it. Everyone’s parenting style is different so as long as you follow the general health guideline side of things then you’ll be fine.

Wineandchoccy · 18/07/2018 21:38

Wonder weeks is great for booking babysitters when stormy times are due Grin
