Part 3 already! And there is a split in the group. Hopefully everyone joins on this one. Shall we try and get a list of due dates going? I'm also interested to know where people live if they'd like to share. Not sure what other info would be needed. Also if anyone wants to join the fb group let me know.

Sorry I’m just coming on for a moan, I’m so sick , I have nausea , my back is in agony, I’m exhausted, came home sick from work today and had a three hour nap! I seem to alternate between constipation and diorreah. My boobs are huge and really hurt, yesterday I woke at 6:30am and couldn’t get back to sleep because my right nipple hurt THAT much. So fed up! 9+3 but still 3 and a half weeks until my scan ....! Sorry just needed to let all that out!

AliceRR · 16/07/2018 19:21

@craftymum yes the weather does not help!

@clairehr yes mine are the little whiteheads now which I often get when I have PMT but I have had them for weeks and they can be quite stubborn. I use the simple face wash now. I used to use a biore one but stopped due to the salycilic acid. I occasionally use the Tarte frxxion stick to exfoliate maybe once a week. The simple one is working ok for me. To be honest with it being hormones there’s not much you can do other than wash your face regularly (IMO). It is annoying.

Eyedontknow · 16/07/2018 19:23

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking I didn't know either (re: strep B from urine test). Thanks for sharing your experience though, makes me feel a bit better for now.

First scan tomorrow. On the NHS do you get a copy of the dating scan picture or is it only if you go private?

Lookingforadvice123 · 16/07/2018 19:23

notquiteagandt how bittersweet for you, to happy to hear you have one healthy baby, but allow yourself time to think about your lost twin too.

Thank you for all who replied about symptoms coming and going, especially that advice from your midwife clairehr, that’s really reassuring. The same thing happened when I was 8 weeks pregnant with DS, my symptoms seemed to go and then at 8+2 I had a small bleed/spotting. Everything was fine and there was never any reason for the bleed (I had slight brown spotting again at 16 weeks, weirdly, so almost as if it was something hormonal). My symptoms returned really strong after the bleed too that time. This pregnancy has just been different, my nausea started much earlier and has been worse, so I wasn’t expecting the same thing to happen. Really hope everything was ok, didn’t expect to be worried this soon after a positive scan last week!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/07/2018 19:24

@NotQuite my first son was a twin, but the other one didn’t develop... vanishing twin syndrome?

Weirdly, they say that when this happens the surviving twin is usually left handed, which my son is. I wonder if yours will be?

On a completely different note... what can I take for constipation? I’ve been trying to keep hydrated and have a proper diet.. but I need meds now 😩 what’s recommended?

Notquiteagandt · 16/07/2018 19:29

Thanks for your well wishes ladies Flowers

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking no they where completely seperate differant sacks etc. It was an empty sack with an egg & yolk but not alot else. They said it will have been lost very early on. My body should eventually reabsorb it. (Is this vanishing twin?)

Twins really run in my family though. So not a total surprise.

I shall remember the left handed thing and see. Dp & I are both lefties so be weirid to have a right hander haha.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/07/2018 19:31

Yeah that’s what I had, two separate sacs in the early scan pictures and the empty one was just reabsorbed.. it is a bit sad, but as PPs have said, you have a healthy baby in there too 🤞

craftymum01 · 16/07/2018 19:34

@Looking maybe you are having a girl this time? My mum had totally different symptoms for different sexes

MrsY87 · 16/07/2018 19:34

Glad the scans went well @Since2016 and @jeanzbeanz

@Notquiteagandt so sorry to hear you've lost a twin but glad to hear the other is developing well. I can understand you being sad as it's still a loss even though you are still pregnant. Take some time to look after yourself as it must be a lot to process, thinking of you ❤️

hayleyfx · 16/07/2018 19:34

@twiglet oh I know, I’ve literally had 0 interest in sex since 5/6 weeks and the past few days it just came back out of nowhere. Still nauseous but can actually force myself to eat now!

@Lookingforadvice123 try not to worry, I’ve had quite a few freak outs over disappearing symptoms. Sometimes my sickness would go completely for a day or two at a time. I panicked so much at 9+3 because of it, ended up having a scan and bub was wriggling away. Then I vomited in the car on the way home 🤣 I understand the worry totally but I’m sure everything is fine!

@Notquiteagandt I’m so sorry to hear about your twin but delighted that the other one is perfectly healthy x

@Eyedontknow where I’m from (Scotland) you pay £10 for three prints of the scan. I’m not sure if that’s what it’s like everywhere. Hope it goes well, good luck!

emoji · 16/07/2018 19:37

@Eyedontknow you'll get a copy but some trusts charge. It used to be £5 per picture at my local hospital and then they dropped the charge

clairehr · 16/07/2018 19:47

Thanks @AliceRR I'll try and get some simple and see how I go 😊

@Lookingforadvice123 I'm sure symptoms will come back to some degree. I've also been told that around weeks 7-12 the placenta starts to take over too, which will start to even out hormones. I've definitely had an ebb and flow recently, had very few symptoms and diarrhoea and now back to spots, constipation, stretching cramps and sore nipples, and nausea with dry heaving . It's a hell of a ride this pregnancy malarkey isn't it?!

Fredthespider · 16/07/2018 19:48

@Eyedontknow my trust charge you £4 for a photo (they accept cash and card 😉)

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking I was recommended lactulose by the midwife, available over the counter for about £5 for a huge bottle. It’s basically a sugar syrup so quite sickly. I’ve also got cosmocol sachets from pre-pregnancy, but I haven’t been able to stomach them as you need to drink 125ml. I do find the lactulose a little harsher than the cosmocol, I go between constipated and diarrhoea now.

@notquiteagandt I’m sorry about your second twin but also pleased that your other baby is settled. Must be mixed feelings!

maxiflump1 · 16/07/2018 20:00

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking constipation is horrid isn't it. I tried lactose in my first pregnancy which u can buy over counter but it has no effect at all. Gp ended up prescribing laxido which is great. Am taking one every few days or so and does the trick. It's granules you dissolve in water and doesn't seem to make me nauseous which is a bonus!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/07/2018 20:08

@maxiflump might give the docs a call tomorrow then 👌

My DP has just been out to buy lactulose but they wouldn’t sell him it 🙄

Alicejj8x · 16/07/2018 20:11

Yes to the chin spots!! They have build a home on my chin and
Side of
Face

Yes to
The decrease of
Symptoms I'm
8+5 and symptoms have come
And gone but so far so
Good.

Have my scan Wednesday then the clinic I'm
With don't do any early scans after 9 weeks so I've got my MW 23rd which I can then get a number to
Call
For my 12 week scan the fertility nurse told
Me
It's any time
From
11-14 weeks so not to be alarmed if it passes the 12 week and I haven't had a scan :)

Eyedontknow · 16/07/2018 20:14

Thanks everyone, I'll bring some cash in case. A bit nervous for the scan, but from this thread I gather that's natural Smile

@notquiteagandt just echoing what everyone else has said. Sorry to hear about one twin, but happy the other one is developing.

DragonFlew · 16/07/2018 21:04

@Alicejj8x is your mw appt on 23rd your booking appt? I'm 8+1 today but haven't booked to see mw yet. I'm not sure when to book it for - how many weeks I need to be.

Does it sound weird but I feel like it suddenly becomes 'real' when i go and see the mw. I don't want to jinx anything but equally - I really want to get my scan booked!

Leonora94 · 16/07/2018 21:21

Hi guys this thread really does move fast 😳 maybe we should consider splintering off? Like second baby / first baby or something like that? Or not either way I don’t mind! Does anyone else get the occasional sharp pain, almost like cramping in their tummy if they move to suddenly? It doesn’t happen all the time but enough for me to notice x

Alicejj8x · 16/07/2018 21:21

My booking appointment with MW is 23rd then I'll get a number to call to book in my 12 week scan :)

Do you have a number you can call for mw? Or ask your gp & they can refer you :)

Alicejj8x · 16/07/2018 21:24

@Leonora94
Yes I get this some times especially if I sneeze or need to push for the toilet (sorry for tmi lol)

Seafoodeatit · 16/07/2018 21:45

@Leonora94 - I was going to say the same - I get it when I sneeze, feels like the tummy equivalent of a leg cramp!

@Eyedontknow - it's £15 for scan photos here (Bath) but they take card too.

@maxiflump1 I would recommend glycerin suppositories, there's nothing in them for your body to absorb so it won't harm you or the baby and doesn't have the side effects of a laxative.

DragonFlew · 16/07/2018 21:51

@leonora94 yes! All the time! If I blow my nose or cough!

I'd really like to keep the thread together as I love reading and getting advice from everyone. Is there a Facebook group yet? Might be easier as then individual comments get individual answers and no one will get missed?
What do you think?

welshweasel · 16/07/2018 21:59

I agree a Facebook group would be good - I though someone set one up ages ago?

sickmumma · 16/07/2018 22:01

Sorry to hear about 2nd twin @Notquiteagandt, that must be really bittersweet xx I hope you are okay ❤️

This thread really does move quickly I can't keep up (or remember who said what haha!!)

Today has been worse for the sickness, normally in the evening I have been managing to eat however took one bite of dinner today and ran to the toilet heaving! I am so hungry but everything is making me sick/ heave even my trust orange juice! I've managed one bagel and a brioche all day and I'm starving!!
