Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

Hi all,

Apologies for radio silence since Feb/March! Have been trying to keep up on FB but work/toddler/pregnancy/life admin/previous groups have all taken their toll.

I've missed quite a few of you and have been thinking of you while I've been MIA. Lots to catch up on, but glad to be back and look forward to sharing the next stages with you.

@birdy1978, I am so sorry for your loss, but so happy for the safe arrival of your daughter. I can only imagine how hard it must have been/is and I'm so thankful they have been so good with your son. Thanks

I'll keep catching back up but wanted to say hello!

Emmasmum2013 · 14/07/2018 08:09

When I've been for scans at the hospital I've seen some ladies with bounty folders holding their notes. I've not been offered one though so I don't know what the deal is with that.

Last time I was discharged before the rep came which I was happy about as I've heard they can be a bit pushy and I just didn't need that. Plus the prices they charge for the photography are extortionate to me.

Who is the next due from our group? Is someone getting induced or a c-sec soon?

Emmasmum2013 · 14/07/2018 08:10

P.s. Hi @CaffeineDragon!!
How have you been getting on?

StrawberryLemonade · 14/07/2018 09:05

Hi caffeinedragon Smile

Emmasmum I got given a bounty folder with my notes from Midwife at booking. I transferred my stuff to another folder that I had though instead.
I’m getting induced in 3 days time. Scared. Don’t feel 100% today though, bit nauseous and crampy. I had a steroid injection yesterday and having another today. Tired now as I hardly slept after it!

Gem173 · 14/07/2018 09:33

Oh wow only 3 days time! Goodluck @StrawberryLemonade
You will have a gorgeous baby at the end!

YouCantBeSirius · 14/07/2018 11:13

I'm due to have a section in 13 days Shock

milney25 · 14/07/2018 14:43

I'm due a section in 11 days Confused

birdy1978 · 14/07/2018 14:46

Good luck strawberrylemonade, not long to wait now for your newborn snuggles x

BertieBotts · 14/07/2018 17:10

Yes I got a Bounty folder first time around.

DH suddenly announced today that we need to start packing a hospital bag soon :) It feels so real to be arranging everything! I think we'll be later in August though, not any time soon.

Good luck Strawberry.

Gem173 · 14/07/2018 17:15

Goodluck @milney and @youcantbesirius
Very close also!
My hospital bags are packed. I’m ready for this baby to come! Says the one whose like the last one whose due 😂

BertieBotts · 14/07/2018 18:59

My due date is the 26th but we've consistently measured about a week ahead. So I think more like the 20th :) They have said to come in a week after due if he hasn't arrived which I need to ask if they really mean the Sunday or if I should come the Monday. If so that means he should definitely be born by the latest 5th September, and that's assuming an induction which lasts a couple of days!

CaffeineDragon · 14/07/2018 20:52

@Emmasmum2013 hello! Mostly okay, though this had def been much harder than my first! Not sure if it's the boy/girl thing or just bc it's no 2!

Found out last week I am having some liver complications. Not OC apparently, but basically the same from what I can tell. Have my third visit in 10 days on Tues to see where the levels are and make a plan. I'm hoping it won't be a soon indication, but will be doing whatever is best for the baby!

CaffeineDragon · 14/07/2018 20:55

@StrawberryLemonade You'll do grand! How are you feeling today? x

StrawberryLemonade · 15/07/2018 04:49

I’m ok thanks caffeinedragon was busy most of yesterday entertaining DD as DH was at work. He’s off today so lots of jobs to do such as getting car seat bases installed, finishing sorting baby stuff and hospital bag etc.
Clearly I’m currently wide awake for the second early morning in a row. I’ve had steroid injections so blaming those for my insomnia. I need the sleep but maybe I’ll get a little nap later on. Sorry to hear your liver is playing up - OC is a pain (although I know they aren’t quite sure what yours is yet!). I hope they’re looking after you well.

Emmasmum2013 · 15/07/2018 08:10

Wow we've got so many so soon!!!!
I think I'm going to start packing my hospital bag today. We bought some nappies and formula yesterday. It's all starting to seem very close now!

We took DD to the cinema yesterday, it was great. If you're struggling in the heat and there's something on you want to watch I'd highly recommend going. Sitting relaxed in a lovely air conditioned building with all the snacks you can eat was brilliant!!

StrawberryLemonade · 15/07/2018 08:47

Emmasmum I want to see mamma Mia 2 but it isn’t out until Friday! Think I’m going to have to see if there’s any mother and baby cinema close by in a few weeks time!

peterpanwendy · 15/07/2018 11:10

I have one of those Cineworld cards that you pay monthly and can see as many as you like. Before I fell pregnant we used to go at least once a week but timings mean I'm just too tired now. I didn't know they did mother and baby screenings do you think they do it everywhere? As sad as it is I would sooo go in the middle of the day if it meant getting out the house, especially when they're small hopefully baby would just feed and sleep!

34 weeks today, same due date as @BertieBotts I'm getting super nervous but also so excited!

Gizzymum · 15/07/2018 13:03

@peterpanwendy lots of cinemas do mother and baby screenings. As well as Cineworld, odeon do them at some as do Light Cinemas if you have one nearby. I went to some with DS1 and it was fab! Baby would often sleep through the movie and there would always be someone's baby making a noise (which you could quite easily block out as the film is still quite loud), but I felt no pressure to keep DS quiet etc. I only stopped going when he started crawling.

Gem173 · 15/07/2018 14:17

Sorry if this is tmi, but when you guys go into labour (if over due or even early) are you gunna be worried about your downstairs and whether it’s hairy or not.
Because I’ve had a few Utis/thrush this pregnancy I’ve not bothered since to ‘tidy it up’ as I’m afraid it will cause another UTI. Instead I was gunna tidy it up say a week or two before due date. However this makes me self conscious as if I go early I’m gunna look all hairy and like ‘chewbacca’ as my oh calls it 😂. Just wanted to know your thoughts on whether it’s acceptable to show up and give birth with hairy privates?

Gizzymum · 15/07/2018 14:29

@Gem173 you can turn up as chewbacca as you like 🤣
Im prob gonna do a slight tidy/trim at 37wks and then leave it. I mean I can't see what the heck's going on down there anyway so they can't expect perfectly groomed 🤷🏻‍♀️

milney25 · 15/07/2018 14:54

@Gem173 I was going to attempt to tidy up, but I'm 100% sure that's its for my own benefit (ie feeling better about myself) than the midwife or doctors. I'm certain they won't care at all. As it turns out I'm having a csection, so I might not even bother with the tidying 😂

BeesKnees9 · 15/07/2018 15:48

Hi everyone, hope you are all having good weekends

good luck to all the ladies being induced soon, @strawberrylemonade how have you been feeling today? Hope you managed to get some rest.

@gem173 I will be doing the same as Gizzy and Milney 😂 currently wielding a razor around there every now and again but who knows what it looks like!!

We went to our first antenatal class yesterday and it was really good. Lovely group of people and I think my partner felt much more reassured as most of the afternoon was quite hands on practical stuff. The course leader also said they no longer recommend winding baby after a feed which I also didn’t know Confused she said the evidence suggests that it has no benefit what’s so ever! Has anyone else been told that in their classes?

We also whizzed into ikea and picked up a chest of drawers which we assembled this morning without having a domestic, and I have now put away all the baby clothes and nappies etc so feeling much more prepared!

Gizzymum · 15/07/2018 15:51

@BeesKnees9 I've not been told about not winding after each feed, but I remember being told BF babies didn't need it if their latch was okay. DS1 was FF from 3/4mths and never needed winding then either - I could never get a burp out of him 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

BertieBotts · 15/07/2018 16:17

I defo will not be shaving. I only trim if it's collecting loads of discharge and making me uncomfortable TBH. I actually don't like the feeling of being fully bald...

I didn't shave (or even trim I don't think) last time and nobody blinked an eye and I was only 20 so if you'd expect a younger person to be clean shaven - they didn't seem to notice or care :) I have also had about 1000 internal scans/exams this pregnancy (OK prob not but it feels like it) in all stages of bump and nobody has been surprised by my au naturel forest. I don't think it's a German thing either as salons etc here advertise bikini waxing and there are loads of lady shaving products in stores, so I think the trends are just the same as back home in that many people choose to take it off.

You may want to do the very top (if you can reach) especially if you're booked in for a section as they will need to shave there if they are going to do a c-section so you might prefer to use your own razor, creams etc if you want to. But it's really no big deal if you don't because they'll do what they need to do and they shave people all the time for all kinds of surgery.

I too remember being told that winding is highly cultural and they don't do it everywhere - but I found it did help DS. I think it's one of those try it and see things. If nothing else it's a helpful placebo to make you feel like you're doing something :o

BertieBotts · 15/07/2018 16:17

Plus newborns look so cute and baffled when they are being winded :)
