hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
annobal · 30/05/2007 19:02

Poor, poor Vio - that is just heartbreaking. Please let me know what you decide to do and I will be happy to help out.

Hope everyone has had a good day and not too many rampant hormones or aches and pains. We went to a friend's house this afternoon for a play and supper. T&G had 3 servings of pasta (have got to get me some teddy bear pasta) and a piece of choc cake, then a banana each and a blueberry bar! Think that is more than they have eaten in the last week!!

DH is at the movies tonight so I'm about to raid the kitchen - think it may be popcorn

riabutterflew · 30/05/2007 19:02

T-belle, I'm not much good as fundraising suggestions, but in a few months when you're all clearing out newborn stuff you could do a table top/car boot sale with the pitch fees going to the charity (I've just googled it so now I know what it is).

There's also the 24 (I thinks it's 24) peaks challenge that's held in the Lakes every year where you enter a team to climb all these hills - think that will be on google too, it's a sponsorship event.

Good luck to you all anyway, whatever you decide to do.

riabutterflew · 30/05/2007 19:03

things are back to "normal" in the butterfly house - I burnt the toast at teatime!!!

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 20:14

Where is everybody?......

.......this joint is dead as a dodo tonight?

BadZelda · 30/05/2007 20:18

That's such a heart-rending story

BadZelda · 30/05/2007 20:22

I'm here! Listening to DD having a screaming tantrum (v unusual) because she wants mummy to put her to bed, not daddy. Feel like I've done something wrong - DH has just gone back to work yesterday (I've been working for last 3 months and he's been full-time caring) and all the mummy action has gone to her head. Maybe I'm being too full-on for her?

Thanks for support earlier about the midwife. I probably overreacted, but it was just so frustrating being kept waiting by them again...you get to feel like you're right at the bottom of their list of priorities; but then I've been lucky enough that it's been plain sailing so far, when they're having to deal with people who are having much more difficult pregnancies. Just hard to keep that in mind sometimes! You lot always help to give perspective at least ;)

annobal · 30/05/2007 20:41

I'm here too. On babysitting duty tonight as DH is at the movies and waiting for the apprentice to come on. That said, T&G have been in bed since we got home at 6pm. Looks like I'll be up early tomorrow morning... or maybe I could coax DH into getting up with them so I could have a lie in

annobal · 30/05/2007 20:41

BZ, I hope DD has calmed by now.

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 20:50

Oh, hello...wandered off to do some virtuous housewifery there.....

Doesn't the evening drag when they go to bed early...DS has been asleep since about 5:30 and in bed since 6:00....heaven knows what time he'll get me up tomorrow, so its The Apprentice and then bed for me!

Hope your DD has calmed down BadZ....is she objecting to you or your DH?

DesperateDerlor · 30/05/2007 20:53

oh i'm here too. bet you're all just about to leave though huh?!

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 20:58

Yup...off to watch the Apprentice and hope that smug Katy gets her come-uppance this week.

So Derlor....anything? twinges, backache, show, plugs or mucous? Not long till Friday if your MW is going to be right.

Oh, and its a full moon on Friday...looking at the May thread earlier and one of the ladies MW told her that they notice an upsurge in spontaneous labour at the full moon....so, you're to look at the full moon and visualise your baby, or some such nonsense

foxybrown · 30/05/2007 20:59

am resigning myself to the fact that I will get sucked into Big Brother as I will have tiny baby and be up in the wee small hours night after night

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 30/05/2007 21:00

Oooh I forgot about BB......I used to be an avid fan, but have missed the last few as DH not a fan at all.

annobal · 30/05/2007 21:01

I'm just wondering how much food I can fit in my very squashed stomach. Whenever DH isn't here I tend to snack as he normally cooks - so far it has been ryvitas and cheese, 3 carrots, 2 pears and raisins - think I'm going to have to follow it up with some icecream!!

Would like to see Katie get the push tonight but somehow I think it will be a Tre and Katie head-to-head... Makes better tv after all.

annobal · 30/05/2007 21:03

You don't watch BB do you?? (She says hanging head in shame as the apprentice is so obviously high brow)

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/05/2007 21:09

LOL Daisy - I can just imagine us all staring at the night sky on Friday and hoping for a sudden onset of labour. I will defo give it a go. Much easier than sex at this stage. Do you have to go outside though or can I just stare from my window. Don't really fancy giving birth in Kelvingrove Park.

DesperateDerlor · 30/05/2007 21:41

oh sorry came on then left abruptly as our neighbour dropped in.
Full moon - bring it on - i'll dance naked under it if it will help. - bet it's too farkin cloudy here to see it anyway!!
DH just turned TV over to Big Brother - WHAT IS THAT?????????? SHE IS SCARY!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/05/2007 21:47

Am determined not going to get sucked in to BB again. It's sooooo bad. Can't believe the new Dutch one where the contestants all waiting for transplant and the prize is a new kidney

riabutterflew · 30/05/2007 21:50

Do you still get a baby though or a werewolf? Might try it. I am going to a proper grown up (ish) party on Friday evening to meet my friends new partner and all her friends from uni. I feel very unqualified to attend, but at least if the moon takes over they are all health professionals of sorts (one is a mental health nurse - might be useful!) Presumably labour won't start the minute you look at the moon? Maybe I won't have to lower myself to sex!

Derlor, did your MW mention that the third labour can niggle for days and then the arrival be really quick as third babies are notorious for being difficult/different? Their theories are quite interesting at times. Mine reminded me that the head can engage at the very last minute (as I am measuring 39 weeks I am glad about that, I'm expecting a fairly hefty baby, but not too big thanks). You probably know that anyway, when I'm not picking your brains I forget your qualifications.

I now have a birth plan (of sorts) as she talked it all through with me. Lets hope it all goes to plan.

I have also removed the biggest spider ever from my kitchen - it filled the whisky glass I used. Didn't like that!

Glad you feel a bit better BZ, but you shouldn't have to be having a bad PG to get decent care, and if you aren't getting decent care how do they know it's bad? Hope your DD calmed down. My DS2 likes to announce to people in shops that he doesn't like his daddy. Can be embarrassing...

DesperateDerlor · 30/05/2007 21:51

oh i know - indeed i saw that on the news yesterday - it's sick definately NOT something that should be made into a TV show.
BTW Tallulah i think giving birth in Kelvingrove Park under the full moon and stars would be interesting - certainly a story which would be told over and over.

DesperateDerlor · 30/05/2007 21:56

Ria, yes i've heard all sorts of stories about 3rd labours - but also heard that it's a load of bollocks - Foxy's 3rd was fine - i've asked her!!
with my 2nd i was checked on the Thurs and the head was still free - she was born on the Friday!! so head engagement also = bollocks re judging when things will kick off.
Full moon may be more reliable than anything else

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/05/2007 21:57

MMMM - did like 'Moonbeam' for a name, so suppose it would be appropriate.

DesperateDerlor · 30/05/2007 21:57
Grin
annobal · 30/05/2007 22:10

My MW was telling me the same thing re 3rd deliveries. With DS2 the head didn't engage at all - my waters broke at 8am and he then spent the next 6 hours dropping down.

annobal · 30/05/2007 22:11

Right - I'm off to bed as tomorrow is sure to be an early one . Have a good evening all, no baying at the moon until Friday night
