New thread for those ladies due in February 2019. As there is so many of us though we could do with a roll call. If I start hopefully the next can cut and paste and we can have a list of everyone!

So just called the surgery to see if my prescription for iron tablets was ready. Only to be told that the midwife I spoke to (not mine) hadn't put a request in on the system (she told me she would yesterday and asked me to ring this morning to see if it was ready).

The receptionist asked me if it was urgent or not - how am I supposed to know??

Does anyone know if it can wait a day or now that we know it's an issue should I call my midwife and ask her if it's urgent? I know if it goes untreated then it can be a problem for low birth weight, but I'm worried about the harm that might have already been caused between my bloods being taken (22nd June) and being told iron is low (yesterday) plus then any further delays that there might be.

Confused!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 04/07/2018 12:18

I wish I still had the strength/optimism of being able to wait for the 12 week scan but after a last year, that's all gone out of the window. Even though I've seen them on the screen, I keep thinking that I'm just pregnant in the medical sense and try not too think about a baby so that I don't get too attached until I'm further along. I know that sounds nuts but it broke my heart last year so I'm trying to protect myself I think.

Babybeany · 04/07/2018 12:19

@MrsSnootyPants2018 we are waiting for the nhs scan. It isn’t ideal for me if I’m honest, but we can’t really afford a private scan at the moment and my gp said that the nhs won’t book me in for a reassurance scan regardless of the fact we mmc’d last year. I could lie and say that I am bleeding but I don’t want to tempt fate or jinx it all. We are waiting until August 10th when we will be 12+4. Praying that all stays snuggled in there. I have to admit, I am very envious of everyone else’s early scans! I can’t wait to see our little dots heart beating! 💖 x

Wames90 · 04/07/2018 12:26

@MrsSnootyPants I haven’t bothered booking an early scan either. I did think about it and then the vomiting started and the thought of someone (potentially) doing an internal scan whilst I felt so rough made me change my mind! I’ve got my scan on 23rd July so not too much longer to wait now. Have you had your scan date through yet?

hayleyfx · 04/07/2018 12:35

9+1 today and freaked out yesterday cause my sickness just stopped, still had some nausea but it was much better so I booked an extra scan. This morning I’ve started vomiting again! Seriously it can stop for an hour and I’ll panic 🙈 still nervous for Friday though!

@LookingAtTheStars89 totally understand how you feel, after my missed MC last year I haven’t allowed myself to get too excited, just trying to protect myself. Hope everything works out for us this time 🤞

powkin · 04/07/2018 12:39

@DryIce thank you! That’s good to know :)

Hi again everyone 👋🏼 👋🏼 👋🏼

Sorry I have been rather AWOL. I had an early scan a couple of weeks ago and all they could see was an empty gestational sac and said i was a week behind my dates. I had prepared myself for miscarriage..

.. except I started to get pretty horrific morning sickness so went for another scan 10 days later (yesterday) and would you know it there's a little bean with a flickering heartbeat! I'm totally shook!

So I'm 7 weeks today and feeling like utter fucking death. I suffer from HG in pregnancy. I can't enjoy anything because I'm throwing up or crying or forcing food down. I can't even enjoy my own DD because I'm so ill.
Thank god I'm not in paid employment as there's no way I'd be able to hold down a job like this or ask my employer for 3 months off work! I wasn't working when I was pg with DD either. I'm praying the sickness ends at 12 weeks and doesn't continue as I can't live like this. Makes it even harder as we have no family around to help Sad

MrsY87 · 04/07/2018 13:04

👋 @emoji I had wondered where you'd been! Glad to hear your happy scan news, I was measuring just over a week behind at my scan last week but they could see two heartbeats! 👶🏻👶🏻 I'm still worried about the fact I was measuring so behind though they could make sense but would have meant I got a positive test v early which I suppose is possible given it's twins! have you caught up with your original dates or are they still behind?

Sorry to hear your feeling so awful, have you got some meds to help?

emoji · 04/07/2018 13:14

O EM GEEEEEEE @MrsY87!!!!!!!!! Twins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe I missed your big news! How are you feeling? I'd be bloody petrified 😄 I bet you're thrilled!! Are they identical (same sac) or two separate sacs?

In my last pregnancy I was prescribed buccastem which goes on the gums. Couldn't have anything like cyclizine because I'd throw it straight back up. I was too scared to take anything in the end anyway though because of all the cases of babies born with deformities from thalidomide in the 70s.

maxiflump1 · 04/07/2018 13:14

@MrsSnootyPants2018 I'm not having an early scan either. I had a mmc in February at 9 weeks. DH and I have talked a lot about it and decided it would be worse to have an early scan and see a heartbeat and then go onto lose it than wait until 12 weeks. It's hard because I'm normally such a control freak but with this it's totally out of my controll. Just trying to console myself with the fact that my symptoms are much stronger than with the mmc. It's a very personal decision thou x

@MrsSnootyPants2018 I'm not having any early scans, I want to just wait until 12 week. I feel rotten though so not worried.

@MamaSarai I don't think a few days would make a difference, iron takes a while to get into your system anyway, maybe just have some leafy green veg with dinner tonight, iron via food gets into our blood a lot quicker. Peas are high in iron. Hope you get it sorted soon though xx

emoji · 04/07/2018 13:21

@MrsY87 forgot to say I'm now only 2 days behind where I thought I was so the little bean has been doing some growing!

powkin · 04/07/2018 13:22

Someone recommended Buderim Ginger Bears to me. They are little
Chewy ginger bears and do help a little with feeling sick! Not sure if I’m allowed to post links but I hope so!

UndercoverLauren · 04/07/2018 13:23

OK I've been lurking long enough!
I'm 33, estimated date is 15/2/19, and I live in Southampton with my husband. This is my first ever pregnancy and it would be good to talk to people at the same stage.

I'd love to have a scan now, it all feels a bit hypothetical at the moment. We're waiting for the 12 week one though.

Eden32 · 04/07/2018 13:46

I had an early scan yesterday 7+3 by my dates but they have measured me at 6+2 has any1 had a similar experience and their dates worked out at their 12wk scan.. I dnt no if I should be worried.

buthaina · 04/07/2018 13:58

For everyone that lives in London thought maybe you want to know that you can have an early scan at St George’s hospital and it's free. It's a walk in everyday from 8.30 to 11 I went there and they were amazing and really reassuring. I even got a follow up scan in 2weeks time! Grin

Alicejj8x · 04/07/2018 14:20

Anyone else find there ribs hurt??

I think
I'm
Around 6 1/2 weeks and only one side where my ribs is occasionally really hurts.

PeggyO · 04/07/2018 14:24

@Eden32 It's not something I've experienced but I'm sure someone else on the thread will be able to help. I do know it's not unusual for dates to shift based on scans though, so hopefully that's all it is.

@UndercoverLauren I am also 33 and live in Southampton! My EDD is 9th Feb and this is my second pregnancy (my son is 2). Have you got your scan date through yet?

Fredthespider · 04/07/2018 14:25

@MrsSnootyPants2018 no early scan here either. If my scan date had been closer to the 13/14 week mark then I might have booked one for about now, but it’s come through for 11+6 so only got 3 weeks to wait now.

PeggyO · 04/07/2018 14:40

I'm not having an early scan either. My dating scan is booked for the 2nd August when I'll be 12+5. We're moving house a week later so I'm hoping the preparations will keep my mind off the wait!

booxox · 04/07/2018 14:46

So had my scan.... oh my goodness was so emotional! Most incredible experience! Got to see my little squids heart beating and was absolutely perfect!

My dates have completely changed though. The doctor reckoned that I was 8 weeks and 6 days so I would be due on the 7th of Feb. However, the scan puts me at 6 weeks and 5 days so I'm now due on the 22nd of Feb. Such a massive difference haha, has this happened to anyone else? xx

jeanzbeanz · 04/07/2018 14:58

@booxox lovely!! I thought I was 7 weeks when I went for my scan but they put me at 5+6! Not very nice to have to mentally do week six again 😂 apparently early scans are notoriously inaccurate so I'm waiting for my 12 week scan to see who was correct.

jeanzbeanz · 04/07/2018 15:00

My husband was really keen for us to pay for another scan at 8/9 weeks as statistically if everything was fine then it's very reassuring. However I've been feeling so sick and exhausted that I really couldn't be bothered (!) and now my 12 week scan has come through so early I'm glad I didn't book anything.

jeanzbeanz · 04/07/2018 15:02

It seems like the majority of us have had early scans, I didn't know it was such a common thing. Both my mum and my sister thought I was being a bit obsessive to have one. I'm glad I did, definitely made it all feel more real in those early days!

UndercoverLauren · 04/07/2018 15:10

Nice to meet you! Not yet, I'm seeing the midwife on the 20th, but that's just to answer health questions and things.
