Alright hands up who has got acid reflux/sick mouth. 22 weeks and didn’t know I had that treat in store!

December2018 · 29/07/2018 22:38

Yeah my hand is going up... urghh! I rolled over too quickly in bed and felt what I can only describe as a ripping/pulling sensation inside my stomach!... wtf!
Even my bum cheeks where aching before 😂

FutureDays · 29/07/2018 23:41

I'm still being sick a couple of times a week which is a bit rubbish.
I keep thinking I might be feeling slight ripples of movement but not sure, got our scan on the 8th and I can't wait

AGirlinLondon · 30/07/2018 08:12

Ha @December bed/sleep is definitely becoming a bit more of a challenge now - I feel like my lungs don’t have enough room! @Future I really feel for you ☹️

Chocaholic1 · 30/07/2018 09:12

Hello ladies, please can I join? I’ve been lurking around a bit and meaning to properly join for a while. I’m 37, 20+6, due 11th December and already have a DD who is 23 months.

At my 20 week scan last Friday I was told I have a low anterior placenta and have been rebooked foranother scan at 34 weeks to check position and delivery options etc... the sonographer said around 28 weeks I might experience some bleeding but was quite casual about the whole thing. I mentioned I am due to go abroad with work for a week at 28 weeks and she said there should be no reason why I shouldn’t go but to follow up with the gp or midwife. I just spoke to my gp who was also quite casual about the whole thing however over the weekend i did some reading about low placentas and read some pretty scary things and that others have been advised not to fly or put there body under too much stress. So does anyone else have this? I thought I read somewhere that maybe 1 of you does? It would be great to hear what you have been told re risk factors and precautions.

Sorry for the long post on a Monday morning but this has been playing on my mind Sad

Cakelaur · 30/07/2018 09:25

Morning everyone...
welcome @Chocaholic1

Today I'm 20weeks!!! Can't believe I'm halfway!!! Just crazy talk!!! Baby is kicking up a storm in there. Can't wait to see it tomorrow at the scan!!! 💛

0lgaDaPolga · 30/07/2018 09:31

@chocoholic1 welcome! I had a low lying placenta until 36 weeks in my last pregnancy. I didn’t have any bleeding and it moved up enough before the birth to not need any intervention. Try not to worry about it. It is fairly common and most people don’t have any problems from it. The uterus stretches so much towards the end it’s quite unlikely it will stay low.

If there’s anyone on the group that has joined recently that hasn’t joined our Facebook group that would like to just drop me a pm and I can add you.

Hope everyone’s doing ok. I’m still struggling with my back at the moment and annoyingly still getting morning sickness at 22 weeks!

Stephisaur · 30/07/2018 09:32

Yes to the reflux/sick mouth. Ugh.

20 weeks tomorrow and scan on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing baby again :) been feeling proper kicks the last week or so, but not consistent enough for DH to feel sadly :(

Welcome @chocaholic1 - no idea on the placenta thing, but I would go with the advice you have personally been given and not what other people have been told. They could have complications that you don't. X

RomPom · 30/07/2018 09:53

@Chocaholic1 I had a low placenta with DD1 and had a small bleed quite early on. I had a scan around 32 weeks to check the position and it had moved up and out of the way. I would try not to worry about it. There's a good chance it'll move and if it doesn't, then you'll be given all the advice later on.

@0lgaDaPolga I tried to PM join the FB group, but it says you're not receiving messages at the moment.

MrsTeaPlease · 30/07/2018 10:13

@chocaholic1 I also had a low lying placenta with my first son and it moved out the way. Can't comment on the flying as I'm not sure, although I flew to Greece at 17 weeks, not sure if it was still low then. They usually scan you at 34 weeks or something to check if it's moved if I remember rightly.xx

AGirlinLondon · 30/07/2018 11:05

Hey @Chocaholic - I have a low lying posterior placenta. Up until my 20 week scan it was being mentioned casually with no restrictions on travel etc. But at my 20 weeks it still wasn’t out of the range - if it is really low lying (within a certain range) then there is a separate meeting with the antenatal midwives where they explain all of the stuff that might happen and what you can’t do (flying is one for me).

If you haven’t had this additional talk, give your midwife a call - they will have your measurements on file. sonographers are only responsible for passing the info on to them rather than giving you the diagnosis. My placenta is 18mm from the cervical opening and needs to be 20mm for me to deliver naturally. They are confident it will have moved in time. But even still, I can’t fly until after delivery.

To be honest I’m 22 weeks now and I’m GLAD I can’t fly. The idea of going on hols is lovely but airports not so much! I’m not comfy at the moment - so happy to holiday in the UK. Work also being reasonable (I fly a lot with work).

RomPom · 30/07/2018 11:18

Just had my Harmony results. Everything came back low risk, which is such a relief. It's been worrying me all week. And we are having a girl! That's 5 girls now, 2 DDs and 3 DSDs! Grin We only had a boy's name and now we will argue over names for the next 5 months. 😂

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 30/07/2018 11:38

Morning all!! Just got back from a very windy camping trip (60mph winds cut the trip slightly short and ripped most of our tents out of the ground/into the bin! All safe and sound just!) and had a good read through all your messages.

Sorry to hear some of you have been having a tough time :(

Lots of scans coming up which is exciting - maybe some more team colours?? I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and have my next scan next Monday 😍😍

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 30/07/2018 11:42

Congratulations @RomPom you so deserve some good news!!!! Yay!!! 💗💗💗

SunshineSnowflakesDaydreams · 30/07/2018 12:44

Good news @RomPom Congratulations on your little girl!
@0lgaDaPolga please can I join the FB group? What do you need me to do?

emwithme · 30/07/2018 13:32

@SunshineSnowflakesDaydreams PM me your FB name (and a head's up as to what your profile pic is) and I'll add you.

I appear to be gestating a kick-boxing octopus. She's a right wrigglebum today. Kept me awake half the night...

December2018 · 30/07/2018 13:46

A kick-boxing octopus! That's brilliant 😂😂
I know why you mean tho, this little guy wriggles about constantly he's been giving me bladder jabs all morning ☺️... little monkey!

December2018 · 30/07/2018 13:47

Rompom congrats babe! I bet your over the moon 💖

AGirlinLondon · 30/07/2018 14:03

Well done @RomPom! I think the day I got my NIPT results was the most emotional day of my life!

RomPom · 30/07/2018 15:32

Thanks everyone! It's one less thing to worry about. And having another girl will be a lot cheaper as I already have a wardrobe full of clothes. I'm not sure OH and I will ever agree on a girl's name though.

0lgaDaPolga · 30/07/2018 17:33

I’m definitely with you on the difficulty of names @rompom. We had a couple of girls names we liked from when I was pregnant with my son but his name is literally the only name we could agree on. We are having another boy so I think he might just have to be nameless as we are struggling to find one we both like.

All the low placenta people, the way one of the doctors explained it to me last time was to imagine drawing a little mark at the bottom of an uninflated balloon. The mark is your placenta and the balloon is the uterus. Once it inflates the mark is almost certainly going to move up, just like the uterus stretches.

Mine was very low lying last time at 12 weeks, still was at 20 weeks. I was booked in for a rescan at 32 weeks and it still hadn’t moved so I was preparing myself for having a csection. Had another scan at 36 weeks and the placenta had moved up several centimetres.

MagicalCreatures · 30/07/2018 19:08

@RomPom yay that fantastic news hun. And another little girl to add to our large group of boys.
@GoldilocksTheGraceless of all the weeks to have gone camping, you chose the one week it’s crap after 2 months of pure sunshine 😂 That is the story of my life.
@Cakelaur Happy 20 weeks Hun.
And good luck on all the scans this week. I can’t wait to see my little boy again next week x

@MrsTeaPlease that sounds horrendous, how could they mess up those details?! Definitely put that foot down, I keep repeating to myself 'it's my body and I'll do what I feel is safest for me and baby'... let's see if I'm that strong when it comes to it! Helpfully I never got a 6 week check so there is no idea of how well I healed etc (midwife was suitably horrified).

@RomPom I'm so pleased for you, you needed good news! The name debate never ends, our 17 week scan said they think it's a girl and I really hope it is otherwise we too will have a nameless second son.

@GoldilocksTheGraceless I'm on holidays at the moment in Cornwall and have seen a lot of bedraggled people at campsites looking like they've had enough... I admire your dedication going camping, I very much played the pregnancy card and insisted on a holiday cottage (though camping would have been far more financially sensible)

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 30/07/2018 20:09

Is anyone watching channel 4? Breastfeeding documentary

Cakelaur · 30/07/2018 23:51

@GoldilocksTheGraceless I've just watched it. Interesting info. I'm hoping to breastfeed. But to each their own.
