Loler - do what we did when we moved and the solicitors were dragging their feet - call them on an hourly basis and ask them is it done yet. they soon got bored and did the things we wanted just to get rid of us !

tokentotty · 07/06/2007 16:48

Yes Hersetta - is one of the TT book of tricks that one !!

kiteflying · 07/06/2007 16:48

I second Hersetta's suggestion. It sounds better the way she said it than the way I did.

growingbagpuss · 07/06/2007 16:51

.

Hello, back from m/w. Babe fine, very low - HER WORDS - not that i'm panicked or anything! pelvic floor not waht it used to be apparently. Good oh.

BP in my shoes (was high when I took it this morning)

Loler - remind them ur pregnant and point out the "damage" all this stress could be doing - but equally remember - babies will sleep anywhere - handbags, drawers, packing boxes......

growingbagpuss · 07/06/2007 17:04

Myweegirl - have just dwonlaoded a portion from the NHS guidance on AfC - it clearly says that if accrued A/L exceeds normal agreed amounts then a mutually beneficial agreement may be to take payment in lieu!!!! - then I could take all my mat leave hurrah!!

I shall fight this one now I now I have a bit of NHS paper on my side.

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 17:10

...laundry baskets

bananabump · 07/06/2007 18:22

loler, I'm measuring about 39cm at the moment at 31+5, but I suspect/hope it's just that he's hard to measure through my belly!

myweegirl · 07/06/2007 20:12

growingbagpuss - that's great! AfC has been good for some things then!

i've been told that i can carry my leave over if i want. but i was planning to go back to work in april so thought that some of feb and all of march would be annual leave - so may not be an issue for me - i've not taken any so far since april and only have 5 weeks left to work - can't wait!

about the measuring big -i keep meaning to ask how they know it's the size of bump and not just fat (i've certainly got a few lumpy bits when not pregnant...)

mum2george · 07/06/2007 20:36

Bagpuss, where can I order one of those babies that sleep anywhere? DS would only sleep on me, maybe on his dad at a real push. Would love one this time that you can just put down and get on with things, like maybe having a shower, or eating.....

growingbagpuss · 07/06/2007 21:04

aah - best not to post the piccies of ds as a baby then... asleep in aforementioned (thanks for reminding me washy) laundry basket, on sofa propped up by a thousand bears.....erm... I thought all babies slept anywhere?

Does that mean this next one might not be like that ?

MrsBadger · 07/06/2007 21:12

[mad theory ahoy]

I think they come in two flavours (never mind pink or blue) - the Sleeper and the Non-Sleeper.
The former fall asleep anywhere, anytime, at the slightest provocation (face down in weetabix, in the middle of Granny doing 'round and round the garden' etc).
The latter never seem to sleep at all and scream constantly from 5pm onwards unless constantly held / sung to / rocked/ driven in car etc.

Parents of Sleepers can never work out why parents of Nons make such a fuss about bedtimes etc, and parents of Nons look at parents of Sleepers and wonder where the hell they went wrong, when really it's all down to the babies...

Washersaurus · 07/06/2007 21:40

Ooooh I would have loved it if DS had gone to sleep on me, or even in his buggy, just once in a while. For some reason he has only ever been able to sleep in his cot which was fine unless I wanted to go out somewhere; he used to get so overtired and still refuse to sleep.

Obviously as he is nearly 2 now it isn't an issue anymore, so I'm hoping for the sleep anyway flavour this time

loler · 07/06/2007 22:01

Oh I agree with MrsB - I had a sleeper first time and smuggly looked at the nonsleepers thinking if they only did blah blah blah. No.2 was the (still is) nonsleeper variety - feel very guilty and take it all back! Also praying for a sleeper this time.

two very good friends had babies (one yesterday and one today) - making me feel all broody then remember I'm going to have one too! For those who are obsessed with names like I am - they were an eve and a matthew.

We are hoping to exchange tomorrow - think it is quite likely to happen! our buyers are still moaning about the boiler - can't quite understand their problem, it's not old and it works!

Made a baby purchase! - I've managed to get a very nearly new electric breast pump - kept missing them on ebay so googled and found the one I wanted! Never used one before so very excited.

growingbagpuss · 08/06/2007 08:33

All our friends look smugly at us and say.... you wait until this one is born - DH and I look smugly back with our fingers tightly crossed behind our backs!!

D'you think it could be a reflection of how well parents sleep? Dh and I both usually sleep like logs and fall asleep v quickly - so maybe that's why ds does too?

Hersetta · 08/06/2007 09:10

I'm hoping this baby takes after my DH in that he was a sleeper extreme. He'd sleep so much his mum used to have to wake him for food! His Dad also cycled for Great britain and used to strap DH to a child seat on the back of his bike and off he went and DH used to sleep through entire bike journeys and FIL doesn't do short rides - as an aside he is setting off today to ride from lands End to John O Groats at the age of 66. DH is driving him down to lands End today and coming back tomorrow so I am footloose and fancy free tonight. have a nice day today as have been invited to lunch at the Dorchester and tonight I am going with my BF to Sing-a-long-a-Grease after she won free tickets in a competition.

Sincerely hope though that baby doesn't inherit DH impatience and short temper - we'll be in trouble if she does!

Sitting watching ugly betty last night and had about half an hour of my first braxton hicks. No pain but tummy got very tight in places. Told DH they were contractions and he lept out of his seat shouting "What!!", oh sorry did I forget to say the word practice. Ha ha ...evil Hersetta

boobooma · 08/06/2007 09:18

Am also hoping for a sleeper this time. That's the deal isn't it.

myweegirl · 08/06/2007 09:48

i'd like a sleeper this time too please - even if it's just a night-time sleeper.

Ceolas · 08/06/2007 09:50

After 2 non sleepers, I was gifted with a sleeper 3rd time round. Not much during the day, but quickly figured out the day and night thing.

Pleeeeeease let it be a sleeper this time!

tokentotty · 08/06/2007 10:07

What ages are your others Ceolas ?

OP posts:
Ceolas · 08/06/2007 10:15

Others are 7, 5 and 4 (in a fortnight), TT

tokentotty · 08/06/2007 10:35

have you always wanted four or might you carry on ?

OP posts:
Ceolas · 08/06/2007 10:36

Lol, no set number in mind. We'll see how me nanage with 4

Ceolas · 08/06/2007 10:37

Manage

tokentotty · 08/06/2007 10:43

Four seems to me to be a great number. My friends have one boy and then 3 girls and I have to say, out of all the families I know they really are the nicest, best behaved children. Mind you, now their youngest is about 9 they can't wait to get their hands on my lo !!
