Hellooooo !!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pengy · 06/06/2007 11:32

Hi TT, have seen the cherry at a shop in Battersea but there was limited space to try it out. Actually live in SE London and have no car so any shop needs to be near transport! Also want to try it out on stairs, again for use on tube/trains/buses.

MrsBadger · 06/06/2007 11:33

Pengy, have you been to John Lewis or Peter Jones? They are very open to letting you bump the prams up and down their stairs...

jem1969 · 06/06/2007 11:47

Welcome Pengy- morning everyone
Feeling a bit weird today- all hot and woozy and feel like feiting. Please tell me I should tell my boss I'm going home..
Also had to book a train to Devon on Fri evening and wouldn't let me book a seat so feeling a bit pathetic and teary at the thought of millions of people rushing pat me to get a seat in the Paddinton rush hour.
Sorry-feeling a bit sorry for myself!

jem1969 · 06/06/2007 11:47

feinting not feiting...

tokentotty · 06/06/2007 11:50

Right, that's it Jem - HOMETIME !!!
You shouldn't be feeling woozy and unwell at all so there must be a reason and today it's probably that you're homesick so best you get yourself off there now ok ?? Is it your office if I remember, that gets really overheated ?

OP posts:
bananabump · 06/06/2007 12:23

Jem, have they tested your blood to check your iron levels are ok? fainting and feeling woozy can be due to low iron levels. But then again it might just be the heat. Hope you feel better soon, but definitely go home and put your feet up.

Annie75 · 06/06/2007 12:25

Yes, off you go, Jem. Def one of the privileges of being pregnant is being able to listen to your body and rest up when it needs it. I think I remember reading somewhere that your boss can't count it as sick leave either, if it's pregnancy-related.

As for the train, I strongly suggest wearing your tightest maternity top and hover around rubbing your back and sticking your stomach out. You def can't stand for a long time. Am sure some lovely person will rescue you. I had the first seat ever offered up to me by a teenager when I was on the Paris metro. Was lovely, actually!

GillL · 06/06/2007 12:27

Welcome Pengy. Nice to have you on board. Hope the buggy purchase goes well.

Hi Annie - I'm working up til 27th July. I'm sure my mum won't mind having dd a few days a week so I can rest. She looks after her every day while I'm at work. She thinks she's an angel. She would probably be very upset if I didn't take her round while I'm on mat leave - she would miss her so much. I've also got a new neighbour with a little girl who is dd's age. She's offered to have her round to play so I can rest, which is nice of her.

MrsBadger - glad your here. Update on the prescription. It was for Canesten pessary and cream. Dh went to the docs for me yesterday evening. They had no knowledge of the blood test that they had phoned me to tell me about so I've got to call my doctor tomorrow to find out what's going on. Is Canesten used to treat wee infections? I think I'd know about it if I had thrush.

Pengy · 06/06/2007 12:50

GillL: canestan is definitely only for thrush. If they sent your urine sample off should have the result by now, suggest you ask exactly what it showed. Possible it may have only shown fungal elements ie thrush (more likely from vulva than urine itself) and no bacterial infection (which would need antibiotics) hence the prescription you've got. ASK!! You've every right to know exactly.

Hersetta · 06/06/2007 12:50

Ooh TT I'm Soooooooooooo jealous - I've loved George for over 20 years and been to a few concerts. We went in late November to
Earls Court and it was fabulous - didn't sit down the whole time and was jigging around like a mad thing. We decided not to go to the Wembley ones because we didn't know at the time if me and bump would be up to it. juding by the fact that my bump hurt after leaping from my seat like a mad thing when England scored on Friday night i'm pretty glad - but still dead jealous. Hope you have a great time.

The opening of the concert is fab - he's not onstage for the whole of the opening number and then appears at to the last line of the song which is 'so here I am'. fab!

MrsBadger · 06/06/2007 12:55

yep, ring and ask Gill. Sounds like they've got their records in a knot.

GillL · 06/06/2007 13:07

Thanks guys. I'll phone the hospital on my break and ask for the results. I'll also phone the doctor tomorrow and find out what's going on.

Hope Jem's relaxing at home by now.

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 13:41

Crikey! I've been off for one day and it's taken me a whole lunchtime to catch up!!

Spent yesterday off work in bed as I had such bad leg cramps on Monday night. anyone else had this? My calf muscle actually started going into spasms and woke me up out of a "deep" sleep - at which point I let out a yell and DH also sprung into action trying to massage my leg... Felt a bit guilty taking the day off to sleep when DH was also shattered...

Just as I'd sorted out a comfortable position in bed with my V-pillow! Glad that's helped you too Saturn

I'm now worried about what I'm going to do when I go off on ML, as we cancelled our home broadband recently and I had serious MN withdrawal symptoms yesterday - will need to get reconnected methinks...

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 14:04

Jem - hope you've gone home?? I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Welcome Angie and Pengy!

GillL - sorry you're having a bad time with your GP - it must have been fab seeing a scan of the LO though?! We can't afford to have another scan done before our LO arrives, having paid for Hypnobirthing classes

Myweegirl - not used the website you mentioned but I noticed that kiddicare.com has lots of glider chairs, starting from about £89 - they've got a good reputation for customer service - I've just ordered my travel system and cotbed from them so will let you know how I get on!

Banana - your LO does sound as if he has superpowers - maybe it's your new iron tablets?? Mind you, when you see how big our LO's are it kind of makes sense!! My LO has developed some REALLY strong kicking powers.

Mrs S - congrats to your DP on passing his driving test - does that mean he can now drive you to hospital (or were you planning a homebirth?? Can't remember )

Hersetta - good luck with your bloods.

Loler - hope your move is happening soon - fingers crossed.

TT - hahahaha about your Hypnobirthing class - I just hope DH and I don't get the giggles at ours.

Hersetta · 06/06/2007 14:33

Bloods went OK BLM - had a mars ice cream on the way home as a treat as I have been choccy free for two whole days as I didn't want i high glucose result!! Also had my Anti D treatment as I'm RH negative so that's out of the way with as well.

Hope you feel better soon Jem.

Booked my hospital tour today - first they offered me was 9th August which i though was pushing it a bit if she decided to come a couple of weeks early so now have it booked for July 14th - much more sensible I think.

My LO is kicking well also. I went out for lunch on Monday and sitting chatting afterwards and she kicked so hard that I jusmped out of my seat shouting ouch - everyone just looked at me like I was mental.

kiteflying · 06/06/2007 14:37

Babyloves, I was getting terrible cramps in the legs a couple of weeks ago - like you it was enough to wake my BF at 3am and have him frantically massaging the cramp away. And I would limp around all day.
I am finding that since I have been a bit more disciplined with the yoga practice, it has not been happening - have built in more leg extensions and ankle rotations. Now I am waking in the morning with a threat of leg cramp that I can see off with a couple of ankle rotations. Don't know if this is helpful or not. Maybe try stretching your feet and toes and rolling your ankles a few times during the day if you are not doing yoga?
Also, a girl in my yoga class recommended tonic water for leg cramping for some reason.

[waves to everyone else]

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 14:38

LOL about kicking! This LO has been kicking hard all morning and I'm trying to conceal it as I work with a load of men...

Wish you hadn't mentioned Mars ice-cream - I'm totally addicted to Malteser ice-creams atm!! Think you deserved it though, after having to fast from chocolate.

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 14:40

Oops x-posts Kite. Was at my yoga class last night and it does seem to help a bit - think I'll need to take your advice and start practising a bit more at home from now on.

Like the sound of tonic water!! At least I can pretend its vodka & tonic

Hersetta · 06/06/2007 14:41

Would have preferred a crunchie one - those are lush but the mars one went down pretty well too.

Going to the theatre tonight with my best friend - i don't suppose I'll have to twist her arm too hard to get interval ice creams!

GillL · 06/06/2007 14:53

You're making my mouth water with all this talk about ice creams. I've really been trying to resist the temptation as I never lost all the weight I put on with dd, so I've opted for smoothie ice creams. I do give in to the odd white chocolate magnum though.

My baby's been much stronger recently. I think he's only actually hurt me when kicking once or twice.

Thanks BLM - I phoned the hospital and apparently I do have thrush. I wonder why I don't have any itching though (definitely not complaining btw). I'll still phone the GP tomorrow to find out what's going on about the blood test. I keep thinking I've made it all up in my head or I misunderstood what the doctor's receptionist told me.

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 15:05

I'm with you on the smoothie ice-creams GillL! Especially M&S berry/yoghurt smoothie lollies and Del Monte (??) Mango smoothies. Ohhhhhhhh... must be the warm weather!

Glad you've found out about the thrush - I think you can have the discharge without the itching (which is the worst bit!!). Did they find out from a urine test that you had thrush? My m/w never sends my urine samples off for testing - she just does a glucose check there and then - and then she chucks the sample in the bin. Have to say my m/w care in general has been pretty pants so far...

bananabump · 06/06/2007 15:30

The midwives I deal with ask for your urine sample, and then give you back the empty sample bottle after they've checked it! I honestly don't know what to do with it, am I supposed to reuse it? isn't it supposed to be sterile though?

In any case, I always just say "oh, thanks" and put it in my handbag...

Babylovesmuffins · 06/06/2007 15:40

yes, I always have that awkward moment of carrying a sample in my handbag - normally try and wrap it in a poly-bag as I'm worried I'm going to pull it out at an unopportune moment...

Which reminds me about the time I went to have pg test done at my GP's just before Christmas - I don't know why they didn't take my word that I'd already done a +ve test myself but they seemed to insist on doing their own test too. I had to give a sample there and then, while the delivery guy from the lab stood and waited for me in reception (it was a couple of days before Christmas and I wanted to find out for definite before the holidays!!). I then had to hand over my pee sample at reception in front of smirking delivery guy, and 3 male patients who were all standing waiting for appointments . The lovely discreet receptionist then proceeded to wave my sample about in the air as she tried to pop it in an envelope...

Have to say, all my embarrassment faded as soon as I found out the result....

kiteflying · 06/06/2007 15:45

My poor boyfriend when he had to do a sperm analysis for our fertility treatment came across an outrageously insensitive receptionist who similarly waved his sample in the air with an echoing "another sperm sample for you Mr X" in front of a full waiting room of women. He said he was still red faced when he got in the car two minutes later.

GillL · 06/06/2007 15:55

That's shocking kite - your bf must have been sooooo embarrassed.

BML - the midwife at the hospital did a urine test and told me that there were lucocytes (sp?) in it. She said that might indicate a water infection and that she would send it off for analysis.

The midwife at my gp's always gives me the full sample back as well as a new bottle. I don't think she's supposed to do that (probably a money saving thing). They never give me a new bottle at the hospital. I have to take it home and wash it. I agree - not very sterile. I tend to use dettol spray on them though.
