Great news @tinypawz

I called the on call midwife, mine is away apparently, waiting on her to call me back with test results Confused

Saraswati · 10/04/2018 10:04

Everything is fine, I'm immune to to parvo. Midwife thinks the gp may have read my results wrong but she double checked with the lab and it's fine.

And unclench.. ...Grin

Now just to get back to my usual pregnancy worries!

TinyPaws · 10/04/2018 10:04

Brilliant news @TinyPawz! And congrats on your positive scan @petiteange28!

My early scan is tomorrow, feeling really nervous! Confused

BunBunMum · 10/04/2018 10:21

Great news @TinyPawz!

Shrimpi · 10/04/2018 10:28

@OlderMumToBe2018

Thank you! I had a sneak peek at my blood and urine results on the hospital system and fortunately they are all okay. And I am feeling a lot better! I even managed some proper food yesterday. I was despairing that the feeling might go on for weeks continuously! Shock

Shrimpi · 10/04/2018 10:31

@TinyPawz & @petiteange28

Fantastic news re your scans!

TinyPawz · 10/04/2018 10:35

@TinyPaws hopefully everything will be fine. I will have absolutely everything crossed and sending out good vibes. Try to relax. Easier said that done I know. But looking back the time/energy wasted worrying was for naught.

moomoo85 · 10/04/2018 10:43

Have just had my booking appt at 9+1. Am high risk due to past section and a heart issue so will see the consultant at least a couple of times. Managed to convince the midwife to do parvovirus on my bloods due to occupational exposure so should get the results of those next week.

ER1212 · 10/04/2018 10:44

Hi all, joining in late! Due 27th Nov so currently 7 weeks, with 1st baby, last pregnancy ended in miscarraige and was anembryonic. Lost more symptoms this time round so hoping for the best. Had lots of nausea for a week or so now but last couple of days nausea has waned slightly but been feeling dizziness. According to some google searches this is just another form of morning sickness? Anyone else experiencing this? I have my booking appointment on Thursday so going to mention it then.

ER1212 · 10/04/2018 10:45

Should say lots more symptoms!

Nightmanagerfan · 10/04/2018 11:14

Morning ladies. Great to hear of good news re: scans for some of you, and welcome @ER1212. I haven't had dizziness but makes sense that it's nausea-related.

Is anyone else feeling really horrendous? I'm feeling so sorry for myself now due to exhaustion, constant, worsening nausea, and (TMI) constantly bad stomach/digestive issues. I struggled through work yesterday looking a mess as I couldn't face washing my hair, then left early as I kept thinking I was going to throw up. Managed to eat dinner and was fast asleep by 8:30pm, only to wake up ravenous with awful nausea between 1am - 2am. I ate some cereal and juice and felt better, but couldn't make it to work today. I'm fortunate that I can work at home easily, but even so I'm feeling horrendous! (I'm 10+6 today and the last week has been the worst.) Can anyone relate? Poor DH is sympathetic and has been amazing at looking after me, but I'm beginning to tire of my own whingeing!

Nightmanagerfan · 10/04/2018 11:16

Oh, and one more practical question for those who aren't on their first pregnancy - when do I get the results of my booking in bloods? Is that at the 16 week appointment? If there was a problem would they contact me before that?

Also, I have my scan on 23rd April - is there another blood test as part of that? Thank you.

BadBadBeans · 10/04/2018 11:21

@TinyPawz and @petiteange18 congratulations on the scans!

@Saraswati - phew! Good news all round! Shame the midwife didn't leave a voicemail though if all was okay?!?!

@marchblossom I didn't get the test for CMV automatically. What happened was there was an anomaly on my 20 week scan (bright bowel) that meant a referral to a consultant. One of the things that might have caused it was CMV (a really common one of the herpes viruses), and my risk of having that was higher because I worked with small children, so the consultant ordered a blood test. Fortunately I hadn't got it, but the blood test also showed that I hadn't had it either, so wasn't immune! (By the way, the anomaly was all fine. The consultant came to the conclusion that the bright bowel was just the ultrasound technician having their settings slightly wrong. She scanned me twice and could see nothing wrong.)

Welcome @ER1212 ! I have also had dizziness, but not nausea. I'm sure it's best to be on the safe side and mention it at your booking appointment! Good luck!

TheImprobableGirl · 10/04/2018 11:29

Fab news @Tinypawz and @Saraswati ! Lovely start to the day reading those bits of good news Grin

Hopefully some well earned rest now, it's horrible worrying and waiting but such a relief when you get some good news.

@NightManagerfan I just had my booking in appointment and took bloods/urine etc. and she did another appointment for the 19th at 10:30, where she said she would have all the info back (this one's a home appointment). The doctors will probably ring you if they find something icky though!

I've got to start on the mega Folic acid, for the next two weeks anyway! Also midwife said as I've had Gestational Diabetes before, they won't even bother to do the GTT, and I'll be referred straight to the diabetes clinic :( Was hoping to avoid this as the baby will then be induced at 38 weeks, which puts me at the 21st October.... Dd1's birthday!! Angry

She isn't very impressed so I'll try and get the induction for the day after if poss... bit gutted though - my diet is going to need to be massively overhauled! Just fruit, veg, eggs, chicken and fish b.r.i.l.l.i.a.n.t no white bread, white rice, fast/fried food of any description, no processed food/meats Hmm sounds like a party

TheImprobableGirl · 10/04/2018 11:30

Oh, the upside to GD is that I get a whole load of extra scans, which is a minor perk when I remember the amount of insulin I need to inject, and being hooked up to the induction drip, insulin drip and epidural grrrrr

olderthanyouthink · 10/04/2018 11:45

@TheImprobableGirl THATS MY BIRTHDAY TOO Grin(you can probably tell I don't put much stock in outing myself on here)

TheUbercornMum · 10/04/2018 11:59

@TheImprobableGirl oh no on the gestational diabetes. Can you not insist on the test? Then if all clear you can at least relax it slightly?

I actually can't wait for this HG to ease off so I can eat properly again. When I'm able to eat all I can manage is crap food and its getting me down. Want to eat healthily again but my body doesn't atm.

Re the sickness and nausea 10 weeks last time was my peak point of illness for me, it was the absolute worst point and it has been the same this time around. Now 11 weeks and am still not too well, which was the same last time but I remember it eased a little in a few weeks so hanging on to that hope. This pregnancy is so different though so we shall see!!!!

Fab news on scans and blood results!!

Welcome newbies too!

SakuraSunrise · 10/04/2018 12:03

Just heard my 12 week scan is the 23rd of April too @Nightmanagerfan. I just want it to hurry up!

Nightmanagerfan · 10/04/2018 12:11

@theubercornmum that's encouraging to hear 11 weeks was bad for you too and that it eased off. I honestly can't wait to feel better and have a normal relationship with food again. I used to love food and now it's a necessary evil!

@sakurasunrise yes 23rd seems quite far away, but hoping it will come quickly and bring good news :-)

MiniMinions · 10/04/2018 12:11

@Nightmanagerfan yes think results at 16w appointment unless an issue. At scan if you want to do the screening for downs etc then bloods are taken.

@TinyPawz great news re scan! Hope you got some decent sleep this morning

@petiteange28 glad to hear your scan was all ok too

@TheImprobableGirl hope that the date doesn't end up being same as DD, am sure they must have some flexibility. Diet doesn't sound fun...is the 50/50 type bread ok? Surely you could have the odd naughty day here and there? I know what you mean about extra scans being a positive though, last time we were monitored closely and that was a bonus amongst the worry!

I've had icky feeling in back of throat all day today...ugh thought now at 10w would be getting past it now. Didn't help that DS was up at 3 this morning and I didn't really get back to sleep properly when had resettled him again.

Had a look at the different themes on ovia to see what 10w is and my mini minion is the size of a Lego man - something I can actually picture the size of haha

pipsqueak126 · 10/04/2018 12:15

@TheImprobableGirl Sorry to hear about your inducing date conundrum, and the risk of gestational diabetes. What I would say is have a look around at the LCHF options out there. There's a great book called Real Food For Pregnancy by Lily Nichols, and also Superfood For Superchildren by Bridget Surtees, Jonno Proudfoot, and Tim Noakes. I have the latter, and as well as offering great recipes for kids of all ages, it has great advice for pregnancy too with some yummy recipes. I do realise, however, that I've been Low Carb High Fat for several years, and giving up / cutting down on sugar and carbs is extremely hard to do. But the most important thing is you eat enough fat (meat, eggs, avocados, dairy etc) to keep you feeling full. Veg is dull, so add plenty of butter!!

Sorry to be a nutrition bore, but I hope it might be of use to some of you! Currently I'm eating ALL THE CARBS due to the nausea, but I can't wait to get back onto the LCHF wagon again.

Ssspider · 10/04/2018 12:33

Good news on the scans ladies.

Made it to 10 weeks here. Feeling very down and exhausted though. The sickness is easing but still only eating crap.

@theimprobablegirl. Sorry about your GD. I had it last time but was diet managed but they keep telling me it doesn’t effect every pregnancy so please try and get the GTT if you can. I’ve been told to get one done after my first scan (02/05) and I can stomach the fasting and lucozade. Hope you can get the test and don’t have it too bad this time.

Ssspider · 10/04/2018 12:41

Ooooh also. I went back to work at 9 months (my company has no enhanced maternity package at all) and my husband took 3 months. Best thing I did. It made going back to work so much less traumatic knowing I didn’t have to worry about nursery or anything like that. It’s all individual though. Going back to work was a saviour for me as I was suffering PND work just gave me some ‘me’ time. Prob sounds odd but it worked.

TinyPawz · 10/04/2018 12:43

Had a call from epu which scared the life out of me. The lady who was scanned after me was accidentally given my scan picture. Midwife was in a panic incase something came of it. Those 30 second of her explaining had my adrenaline through the roof. Accidents happen and in the grand scheme of things it's no big deal. Bless her for letting me know though.

Saraswati · 10/04/2018 13:37

Not sure about work here, I currently work 3 days but work is an hour commute away. Hopefully I can find something whilst on mat leave closer to home and maybe do different hours. Dd will start school in Sept 19 so I will wait until she's settled to go back to work. Definitely keeping her in nursery 3 days whilst on mat leave but will reduce her to half days to keep costs down as I only get basic smp. I've recently done some freelance work so hoping to pick up some more of that but what I do is very niche and jobs and freelance are very hard to come by! Will have to weigh up options but not too concerned about it at the moment.

9+1 here and feeling shite. Had a few good days last week but it's back again, I remember 9 weeks being bad with dd but generally I feel much better than I did last time so counting my blessings that full on hg has stayed away this time.

Had mad cravings for soy sauce last night so had to go get some veg spring rolls and dip them in it. I seem to be all about salty and savoury this time whereas with dd I couldn't get enough sour flavour. I actually licked lemons!! Anyone having weird cravings?
