@BadBadBeans yes to crazy dreams... last night was a shocker. Anyone remember when those stop?

May be tmi but for those struggling with constipation... have you tried going to the toilet with your feet on a stall/ step? My friend is a Bowel specialist nurse and likens it to delivering a baby... ie laying on your back is not particularly the best way to deliver babies and sitting straight is not particularly the best way to deliver a poo.... she goes further with her analogy but I'll spare you!

@bangwhistle when do you expect to get your results?

For the older mums, one of my NCT friends was 41 when she delivered her first and had the most uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery out of all of us. She put me to shame with all my moaning and groaning and back pain whilst she dancing away at a gig at 39 weeks!

Amarettoplease · 12/04/2018 10:13

Sorry @Ditzzy I misread- definitely ask for an early scan. I was told I could request one due to previous m/c but my midwife asked if I was feeling anxious about it and I said no as I wasn’t at that time. If I’d been in your situation I think she would have referred me to EPU.

@badbadbeans yes they put a condom thing on the scanner (and lots of lube!)

@lastnightsmakeup that one does look super comfy like it would mould to your shape. Not sure I can justify the cost though- DH is already questioning where he will sleep when I’ve got a massive cushion in the bed with me 😂

XSunnyX · 12/04/2018 10:14

@TinyPaws so sorry to hear that it is a worrying time wishing you all the best.

I had similar I went for an early private scan at 8 weeks as I didn't feel pregnant and had a really bad night of feeling anxious.
They found 4 baby sacs with nothing in them I had further scans and bloods with NHS as they thought it could be a Molar Pregnancy it was confirmed yesterday it was not and is an early multiple pregnancy. Unfortunately I got the BFP on Mothers Day so should be something in the sacs. Have another scan next Friday praying something has grown but not holding out much hope.
I can't believe it though 4! Anyone else had a multiple pregnancy and know if they develop slower?

@Badbadbeans that also sounds worrying but as we know from this page very common so hopefully all is fine and is one of those things. Wishing you the best and hope it stops soon!

X

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 12/04/2018 10:19

@BadBadBeans not got much time; just wanted to say my 8 week early scan was not vaginal. Just a normal ultrasound.

Hope everyone is ok. Bit of a stressful time here but all ok with baby as far as I can tell!

Catch up soon. Thanks

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 12/04/2018 10:37

I've also just ordered a giant pregnancy pillow which I'm very excited about!Grin

TinyPaws · 12/04/2018 10:47

@XSunnyX Sorry to hear you're going through a difficult time too. I hope you have a good outcome. x

XSunnyX · 12/04/2018 10:53

The not knowing is hard that little bit of hope is hanging around but then I don't want to hope too much so I'm let down and get really upset again. I hope you are managing it ok? X

olderthanyouthink · 12/04/2018 11:12

ARGH!!!!!! Angry

How does anyone have a baby at St Thomas'?

I sent in my self referral over 3 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep back from them. I've called a bunch of numbers (easily 30 calls over a few days) and they either don't answer or transfer me to a number no one answers!

I've sent a few emails including one to the Antenatal matron this morning asking for some kind of response today.

WIBU I just go to the antenatal department if I don't get a response? (Not that I want to, and I don't know where it is)

@LastNightsMakeUp cheers for the pooping tip! Grin Sounds very sensible to me! No idea when the crazy dreams stopped for me last time. I think mabye at the end of the first trimester? I didn't have them in this quantity before, though.

@Amarettoplease Thanks for the condom info, haha!

@XSunnyX goodness, that sounds stressful. I have no idea about multiple pregnancies. Best of luck for your scan next week. How many weeks do you think you are now?

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer thank you.

I've spoken to the midwife and she said just to keep pads on for the next couple of days and monitor the situation. She said it was most likely an implantation bleed (I guess working its way out belatedly?) but to phone her back if I got any red at all.

It's made me really glad I've told a few people I'm pregnant actually, as it means if anything happens I have people to share it with. I wish that DH had told his brother by now - I did ask him to last week and as far as I know he hasn't yet. His brother's wife is also pregnant - a couple of months ahead of me - and if I did miscarry now and they hadn't already known I was pregnant I think I would find it all a bit difficult. I can't quite explain why... Maybe because if they hadn't known I was pregnant, then a miscarriage might seem less of a big deal to them? I am probably being stupid!

LastNightsMakeUp · 12/04/2018 11:37

@olderthanyouthink you'll be best calling PALS (patient advice and liaison service) and implying that you want to make a formal complaint as you've had no contact etc. You should find their number on the website or switchboard will put you through x

LastNightsMakeUp · 12/04/2018 11:38

@olderthanyouthink they'll get things rolling quickly for you

XSunnyX · 12/04/2018 11:51

@Badbadbeans glad you have people to talk to about it. I told work earlier than planned because of needing time off and actually it has made it much easier and the support has been great x

Yes it has been a stressful time, I thought I was 8 weeks so if it is that date that's not normal is it? Thanks it will be the longest week. It would be a such a blessing to even have one out of this and 4 would be a miracle x

toasterstrudle · 12/04/2018 11:54

@ditzzy I'm so sorry for your loss. I think a mmc is everyone's biggest fear really. It's certainly mine, DH was too anxious to have an early scan as didn't want to get hopes up. My mum and a good friend both have had one.

I've got my 12 week scan next Friday, I've just been trying to think statistically it's very unlikely and that there's nothing I can do to prevent it so just trying to distract myself. It's not easy though Thanks

toasterstrudle · 12/04/2018 11:56

@BadBadBeans I had bright red bleeding in last pregnancy at 8 weeks and all was fine. Definitely get it checked, I'm sure it'll all be ok - fingers crossed for you.

olderthanyouthink · 12/04/2018 11:57

Thanks @LastNightsMakeUp I'll give them a call.
I'm already stressed out by being pregnant I didnt need this too Sad

Anyone who's pregnant with their 2nd , 3rd etc .. how big are your age gaps ? My daughter will be about 20 months when new baby is born, and I am looking on a double pram as I don't think she'd stand on a buggy board! Also to make it a lot easier going in to a busy town centre / out near roads !

MeredithShepherd · 12/04/2018 12:52

@Emma0902 this is DC2 for me and DS will be 4.9 when it arrives!

bangwhistle · 12/04/2018 12:54

@LastNightsMakeUp should get them tomorrow. The turnaround is apparently quite quick at the moment.

@Emma0902 my age gap between 1 and 2 is 19 months. I didn't get a double buggy as I kept DC2 in the sling and by the time she was big enough DC1 was on his scooter which i used as a buggy board by attaching it to my Stokke with the strap you can buy. Worked really well. Especially as the Stokke Buggy board are, ahem, shit. And like £100.

Handholding for everyone with bleeding. Such an anxious time but the overwhelming odds are that everything is fine.

@XSunnyX sorry to hear things are stressful at the moment. Fingers crossed for good news.

TinyPawz · 12/04/2018 12:56

On my second child, the gap will be 12years! Anyone got a bigger gap. Feel like I'm a first timer again

toasterstrudle · 12/04/2018 13:19

@Emma0902 DS will be 16 months, I've got the icandy Peach so am going to buy blossom converter for the pushchair. I'm not bothering buying the carrycot adaptor as DS has reflux and was never in his pram at the beginning.

I plan to do sling + pushchair for first 3/4 months then use double pushchair. I'm also hoping to get a secondhand lightweight double stroller for summer 2019 (getting a bit ahead of myself here!) and/or buggy board.

Emma0902 · 12/04/2018 13:24

I'm looking at the bugaboo donkey, so then if I'm not with my DD I can just take the seat off! I already have the cameleon and love it couldn't fault it! Just think it would be so much more practical for me especially if I was to go out on my own!

olderthanyouthink · 12/04/2018 13:54

Well fuck me, I got through to the antenatal dept just now!

They said they got my email on the 6th April, 2.5 weeks after I sent it Hmm and sent out a letter with a scan appointment to me on the same day. And they have sent out another one today because I said I hadn't got it.

@LastNightsMakeUp I tried to get PALS and got an answer machine, couldn't be bothered with another one so, called the antenatal dept (7 times)

So now I have, I think, a scan on the 26th but it's in the middle of the day so not easy to take time off for. Might take the whole day off. That way I won't have to tell work yet.
It's annoying working for a small company. There's my line manager (who's leaving v soon), the head PM/the person we actually confirm time off with, and then the CEO (I don't know how much he does the payroll & leave stuff anymore). AND other than the CEO (male) I'll be the first to have baby here.

Hello all. I had booking appointment today, which was mostly uneventful, apart from having elevated CO2 levels, and requiring to have this checked again. I don't smoke, and suspect the coal fire might be the reason this is elevated. Provisional EDD 19/11/18, and we opted for downs screening.

Nothing much else has occurred in the past week. Wishing everyone well X

Saraswati · 12/04/2018 15:22

Sorry to hear the worrying news today. My symptoms have massively subsided, mmc is my worst fear but I've just got to wait it out.

Moved my scan from 11th may to 2nd. They had loads of free appointment slots so no idea why they scheduled mine so close to 14 weeks! Luckily we are on holiday from 21-28 April then the scan will only be a few days after we get back so I hope that will make the time go quicker. It's a shame I'll be worrying on holiday though, hopefully I can distract myself and not be too horrid to dp and dd.

My dd will be a few weeks off 4 when this one hopefully arrives so no pram issues here, we hardly ever use it now. It's just a stroller type though so will need to buy a new one suitable for newborn. Need to buy basically everything as didn't expect to have another baby anytime soon. I'm looking forward to researching all the things etc but will wait until 20ish weeks I think. We're building an extension on the house this summer so have got to sort out new interiors etc first! So. Much. Pinterest!

TheUbercornMum · 12/04/2018 15:34

Re spotting I had it at 6 and 8 weeks with normal scans at 7 and 11 weeks. The early scan found no reason for it (was an internal scan and they covered it with a sheath, and was absolutely fine). My second scan was also fine and was on my tummy and was my nuchal one and also no sign of any problems spotting wise. So just to say, ladies with spotting, it could be absolutely fine. I had it with DC1 too around 6 weeks and no reason was given other than "one of those things".
