As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

Reluctantly looked yesterday, I've put on 9lb in about 8 weeks.

WaitingforToto · 30/04/2018 13:05

I don't dare look. I weighed myself at the gym on a Friday morning a few weeks ago and ruined my entire weekend because of what the scale said. I read 1lb a week is a good/sensible amount to gain in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters though so I'll see what the midwife says next week when I get on her scales 🙈

Emmasmum2013 · 30/04/2018 13:42

I'm not weighing myself - it'll only depress me. It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself that it doesn't matter and that I'm pregnant so as soon as I've had the baby I can get really active and lose all the excess weight. It still makes me feel rubbish to see a higher number than ever on the scale. So I'm just avoiding - and I'll deal with it when I can actually do something about it!

I bit the bullet at weekend and bought some proper over the bump maternity jeans from mothercare. I'm so glad I did. And I treated myself to a gorgeous embroidered kimono style top. I had a party to go to and really didn't want to have to go in leggings and an oversized baggy jumper! That was my excuse to DH anyway haha.

Stephiewoo · 30/04/2018 14:20

I love over bump jeans. They really are so comfy and make me feel a bit 'normal'.

Gem173 · 30/04/2018 18:37

Not been feeling too well today, been gassy all day, bus was too hot and i just felt like I was burning up! Just got home and now my stomach is upset forcing me to use the loo. Wondering why I have such a bad belly, haven’t eaten anything bad, just had a normal roast dinner last night :(

Sugarskulllover · 30/04/2018 23:03

I think it's worse because I'm being weighed and it's bringing me down. It feels horrendous being judged when I'm not purposely putting weight on

I wouldn't weigh myself through choice if I'm honest. I know as soon as he's here I'll be more active and wanting to stand for over an hour cooking from scratch! I must admit I have taken some easy routes but I'm not reaching for a dominos at every opportunity!

Sorry you're not feeling well @Gem173

BertieBotts · 01/05/2018 00:15

I've been putting moisturising cream on my bump, it seems to alleviate the tight feeling.

peterpanwendy · 01/05/2018 20:03

I'm still feeling all my movements really low down, I have an upper anterior placenta. Will I ever feel the movements higher and does anyone have any idea when? I'm 23+2 x

OP posts:
SpriteGirl · 01/05/2018 20:36

Mine is anterior and “not low” but I don’t know how high it is. Anyway I’m 26 weeks today. I’d say the last week or so I’ve felt movement higher up. Last Thursday all day it was up towards my ribs and chest. Doesn’t do it very often though thank God because it makes me feel sick (stomach etc up there).

Emmasmum2013 · 02/05/2018 09:35

Mine is anterior as well, and I think its about to the left of my belly button because I feel movement everywhere except that spot. I can actually watch my belly and see her kicks from the outside.

Viability day today for me! 24 weeks, so that means if I went into labour today I'd still have a good chance of bringing baby home. Such a relief :)

BertieBotts · 02/05/2018 11:49

Yes! Colleague/friend just announced she's due in November! I'm so excited for her :) and we'll have little babies together!

Gizzymum · 02/05/2018 16:05

@peterpanwendy I had an anterior placenta last time and could eventually feel movements all over the place. I can't remember when though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gem173 · 02/05/2018 16:58

23 weeks today, have had a lot of fanny daggers aha and a few belly pains. Just want to go home and put my feet up! Anyone with their first child officially popped yet ? My belly’s bigger but slowly I haven’t yet woken up and gasped at how huge I am! Sometime I lie down and I don’t even look pregnant! I don’t want to be huge but to look more pregnant/round than overweight would be nice xx

milney25 · 02/05/2018 17:45

I'm 27 weeks today with an anterior placenta and I'm starting to feel higher kicks now. Usually on the side rather than bang in the middle

Gem173 · 02/05/2018 21:16

@milney wow 27 weeks already! Not long to go!

Stephiewoo · 03/05/2018 05:42

24 weeks today. So so pleased, our little baby girl is 13 weeks ( c section) away from being with us. Getting very excited now xx

milney25 · 03/05/2018 08:36

I know @Gem173 it feels crazy how quick the weeks are starting to go now! I think perhaps because I'm starting to think about handing over work etc. It seems like a long time since we were worrying about our 12 week scans!

Emmasmum2013 · 03/05/2018 09:43

Got my breakdown of mat leave pay yesterday, its not half as bad as I thought! So I'll be off for 12 months on mat leave! And it'll work out more like 13 months since I'll need to take my remaining annual leave before I start my mat leave. And I'll try and take some afterwards too so I can get DD through the summer hols and go back to work when the school year starts.
So looks like my last day in work will be around the 20th July!!! and I'll go back at the start of September 2019!! I can't wait.

SpriteGirl · 03/05/2018 11:17

@Stephiewoo I had a vague memory of your midwife nudging you towards vaginal birth this time (sorry if I'm confusing you with someone else!) Just wondered if their opinion changed or if you decided on the section yourself?

Stephiewoo · 03/05/2018 12:13

@SpriteGirl Yes the consultant! After thoughts about Vbac and mesh implant and my vagina and pelvic area literally exploding I've gone for c section again. I've also got eldest leaving for China within August so want to be able to do mummy duty with her as best as I can. If it's planned it will be so much easier. Plus I'm the only driver in the house, so want to make sure everything is in place.

BertieBotts · 03/05/2018 21:06

I found this today, been playing with it, it seems pretty fun! :) I'm not sure what you put in for grey eyes, I suppose see if they're dark (then brown) or light and if light whether they're more steely grey (blue) or mossy grey (green).

szwidix89 · 03/05/2018 23:05

I'm nearly 25 weeks. Can't believe how quickly time goes but I think it will slow down at the end when everyone is impatient for the baby to be born :P
Midwife appointment tomorrow morning, then after bank holiday weekend woohoo! Bring it on! Any plans ladies ? It's gonna be sunny for a change! At least in London, so unusual for bank hols lol

Emmasmum2013 · 04/05/2018 19:01

I think it’s going to bbqs galore for us! We’ve got one planned for tomorrow and my mum is doing one on Monday.

I’ve been off work today and have attacked my garden. The lawn was seriously neglected, full of weeds and moss. It doesn’t look great now but once the new seed grows it’ll be lovely again. Hopefully!! I’m ready for a (alcohol free) gin and tonic now!!

Gem173 · 04/05/2018 20:13

Yay sunny weather! I’m drinking alcohol free koppaberg it’s 0.05% and I do feel guilty but it just tastes sooooo good!! Hope your bbq goes well @emmasmum
