Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

Thank you @SpriteGirl I have tried to priviate message @E2017 xx

jemily · 25/04/2018 21:39

@E2017 thank you. The link isn't working though... any chance you could resend?

Zarya · 26/04/2018 13:22

Hope it's not to late to join for the journey ladies!

23 weeks here with 1 DS who is 3.5 already.
A couple of scares along the way but things seem to be going ok. Still wait8ng for the 2nd trimester glow and energy boost though!

Monique92 · 26/04/2018 13:23

To all the ladies,

I hope we are having a fabulous Thursday, yay that it's Friday tomorrow!

Would anyone be interested in chatting and meeting for a coffee at some point? I am from NZ however I have been here for a while I don't have any mum/mum to be friends and my poor husband doesn't know what I'm going through so a few new friends to relate with would be so lovely!

Add me on Facebook- Monique Burke living in St Albans.

So sorry if this is weird- I just don't know how else to make friends in the same boat!

Thank you Smile

Hello all. Just checking in to see how everyone's getting on. All well here, almost 24 weeks now. Have quite a big bump - looking at pics from last pregnancy, I think I'm probably where I was at 30 weeks then. Feel enormous, but I am carrying a bit of extra weight as well that I didn't quite manage to lose before I got pregnant.

Went for a growth scan yesterday due to some concerns re long bones measurements in 20 week scan. Looks to be catching up a bit, thank goodness. This one has also gone frank breech, like my first. She got into that position at 20 weeks and never turned, so I wonder whether it'll be the same for this one. In a way, maybe I wouldn't mind so much. I've been back and forth between ELCS and VBAC and if the decision was taken out of my hands, it might be a relief.

E2017 · 26/04/2018 15:29

@jemily & @Monique92 I have resent fb group invites to both of you. Don't know why they didn't work before. Not an issue we've had up until now I don't think. Let me know if they aren't working again.

SpriteGirl · 26/04/2018 15:37

@Monique92 I've added you. St.Albans is about 15 mins from me Smile.

@badb glad all seems to be going well. What's frank breech?

AylaM · 26/04/2018 18:51

Hi, late joiner but would love to join in. Due August 11th with my first. Been really lucky and felt well so far but seem to be over analysing everything I do and how it is affecting baby! Scans and kicks all good though so I just need to relax. Could you possibly send me the FB link? I seem to have joined an American group so would like something more local 😀

E2017 · 26/04/2018 19:09

@AylaM the fb group is a secret group so you won't find it by searching for it. We are also having problems with email the link as you may see from the last few posts. I will send you a pm with the only way round it to get you into the group that we have currently got. Any issues either reply on here and tag me in your reply so I know to look or pm me back.

Gizzymum · 26/04/2018 19:48

@Monique92 welcome! I don't live anywhere near you but can recommend NCT classes to meet new Mum to be friends. I've made 5 really good friends from my group of 7 couples and we whatsapp each other many times a day (and meet up often, but we are all on maternity leave so that will change soon 😪). The classes are antenatal classes but I warn you they really push natural vaginal birth and breastfeeding so take everything they say with a pinch of salt. People attend them more for the friendships rather than the info tbh.

Had to go to doc this morning as got some weird kidney pain last night. They did an ultrasound, and apparently my right kidney isn't draining correctly so they want to keep an eye on it and have told me to keep drinking plus make sure I spend time lying on my left side in case it's the baby pressing on the tube. If I get any worse pain or a fever then I have to go to hospital ASAP!

E2017 · 26/04/2018 21:37

Sorry to hear that you are having a tough time @BertieBotts. Hope it's something that goes away quickly or that lying on your side improves. Xx

SpriteGirl · 26/04/2018 21:59

Sorry to hear that @BertieBotts. Not what you want in pregnancy must be stressful. Hope drinking and left side lying work!

Gem173 · 27/04/2018 06:33

Sorry to hear that @bertiebotts! Any sort of pain is just uncomfortable during pregnancy. Hope it doesn’t get too bad. I stubbed my toe this morning and I hope the baby didn’t hear me scream some swear words lol still no movements here, just hoping everything is still okay and that he’s still growing. When I see midwife on 9th may I will tell her my concerns and hopefully she can put me at ease. Until then, constant worrying seems to be on the agenda :) playing locked in a room tonight with work so hopefully I will be able to crack some puzzles and relax abit more. Hope everyone has a nice day xx

CumbrianExile · 27/04/2018 19:37

Sorry to hear that BertieBotts. Hope it all eases soon.

Locked in sounds great fun Gem, hope you manage to escape Grin

BertieBotts · 27/04/2018 22:37

It's not bothering me or causing me pain, I just have to keep an eye out for signs of infection or anything getting worse :) Luckily I don't have a very demanding job or any projects currently, so just have to wait until my next appointment basically and see if it's got better or worse!

peterpanwendy · 28/04/2018 17:58

Just went to have a cuddle with my cousins 2 day old baby, it has made me soooo excited for my baby! 😍 we only live round the corner so they're going to grow up together it's so exciting :)

Aww! Brilliant! :)

MamOfFrankie · 29/04/2018 17:53

Anyone else really uncomfortable all the time? My bump is soooooooo tight I feel like the baby is going to recreate the scene from Alien and burst on out of there!

I teach, so spending all day on my feet and bending /lifting are becoming tricky. I don't remember feeling this achey until much later on with DD.

somersetsinger · 29/04/2018 20:47

Yes, Mam, I think the bump feels bigger and all stretched and tight when the baby is just starting a growth spurt. Then it's all right for a bit as I guess my body responds, then I get uncomfortable again.

I think I felt her turn around on Friday night, so she's vertical rather than horizontal now. The kicks and movement are now at the top and sides, so would seem to confirm it. Presumably she ran out of room to be sideways.

And I am bigger earlier this time, too. I think I'm about a month ahead in terms of bump size. I'm sitting down and leaning where possible at work and just accepting that I need to take it easy and that the pupils are getting a less energetic version of me this term.

The physio confirmed pelvic girdle pain and gave me a massive tubi grip for wearing from hips to bust. I'm going to get very warm! She gave me exercises, advised me to sit on a birthing/exercise ball and referred me to a huge and impractical list of things to stop doing. I'm glad I went and got it confirmed because if I need more help, it will be quicker to get another appointment.

peterpanwendy · 29/04/2018 22:11

@MamOfFrankie me! I could have written that post myself :(

Is anyone struggling with weight gain? I've put on nearly 2 stone already! I wasn't exactly small to begin with but I'm really starting to panic I'm gonna be huge by the time he gets here!
I'm trying so hard to make sure I'm eating the right things. I think I really need to look at my diet. I walk my dog for 30 minutes a day but my job is sitting on my bum all day really. does anyone have any tips?

I'm also going away on Wednesday for a week so hoping I can try and be good while I'm away too. It's really getting me down! I wanted to lose weight in this pregnancy not put heaps on.

Gizzymum · 30/04/2018 11:02

@Sugarskulllover I'm struggling with the weight gain too - I'm about the weight I was when I was 9mths pregnant with DS1 as I had about 9lbs of his pregnancy weight which I hadn't lost. I find the exhaustion (pregnancy plus an 11mth old) is driving me to live on sugary sweets/cakes/biscuits as I can't rely on caffeine. I've no tips, but you're not alone (and if you do find a magic solution let me know 😜).

Sugarskulllover · 30/04/2018 11:10

Thanks @Gizzymum I am seeing a health in pregnancy advisor so I'm being weighed every 4 weeks. The last time she saw me I'd only put 2 pound on and now its looking like I've put 11 on in 4 weeks! I don't even know how thats physically possible. You'd think I've been having takeaways every night for that to have happened :(
I think i'm going to have to sew my mouth shut! Lol

Gem173 · 30/04/2018 11:16

Hey ladies, my bump feels tight too and back aches! I’ve not yet had the chance to jump on scales and don’t think I want too! Will prob weigh myself at next midwife appt x
