@Nikkil123 enjoy your baby shower!!
Bump is doing well :) even got an updated photo of him :)
Preston sounds very cute, I personally wouldn’t call my boy Preston as I haven’t heard of it before In my area! But it sounds very unique xx

@peterpanwendy yeah I’m excited hope everything goes to plan. I know it will be stressful but it will be worth it xx

peterpanwendy · 24/06/2018 14:47

@NikkiL123 I like Preston! I am a teacher and haven't met a child with that name before which makes me like it more! X

NikkiL123 · 24/06/2018 16:14

@peterpanwendy that makes me so happy thats exactly why we like it! Don't want theres to be loads of kids with the same name as him! Xx

Gizzymum · 24/06/2018 20:11

@NikkiL123 Wasn't the lead singer of a band called Preston (he was on Celebrity Big Brother years ago - was it The Ordinary Boy's?). On another note, I'm originally from Preston so it will always be a place to me, but I don't think that many people outside the NW of England have heard of it so I wouldn't let that put you off.

NikkiL123 · 24/06/2018 20:41

@Gizzymum yep he was the raving lunatic in big brother 😂🙈 name association is sooo hard to avoid but yeh i agree if i had any links to the place Preston i wouldnt want baby named after that but no associations so all good xx

peterpanwendy · 24/06/2018 21:00

I'm trying to write my list for our hospital bags and it's so difficult. I don't know if I'm forgetting half the things or if I'm going way OTT!

I haven’t even attempted my hospital bag :( seems so much work especially In this heat. Had a rough weekend, had diahoerrea (sorry not sure how to spell it) and an increase of discharge every day. I had sex on sat morning so not sure if that’s why I have a lot more discharge.
Hope everyone else’s weekends went well xx

Gem173 · 25/06/2018 06:34

Also sorry for tmi above xx

BertieBotts · 25/06/2018 07:45

Ooh exciting :) I'm going to leave the hospital bag for a bit as they provide loads of stuff in hospital here so I need to wait until I know what I don't need if that makes sense. And I won't be able to do that until I get the meeting with a midwife which they said to do somewhere around 34-36 weeks. Might wait until I'm on leave.

Things seem to be counting down here - just 3 more weeks at work.

BeesKnees9 · 25/06/2018 08:36

@NikkiL123 Did you enjoy your baby shower? I remember you saying a while ago that you were having a few issues with the budget! Did that all get sorted in the end?

NikkiL123 · 25/06/2018 08:51

@BeesKnees9 it was lovely thank you, the girls did put in a lot of effort and was really lucky with the weather. If i was to do it again i think i would book a venue like a hotel for tea or restaurant for dinner but the decorations etc were lovely xx

@Gem173 I remember having a fair bit of discharge last time. The midwife did a swab and it all came back clear. I think it's just a late pregnancy thing. Mention it to the midwife when you next see her and just use some panty liners for the time being. If it gets a lot worse then maybe see the doc.

Tummy bugs seem to be rife at the moment. And my stomach has been super sensitive lately. If i eat anything particularly greasy it kicks off. I think you can take a dose of loperamide (diacalm type medicine) but make sure to drink plenty water. As it can really make you feel dehydrated. Hope you feel better soon.

szwidix89 · 25/06/2018 14:49

How is everyone coping with the heat today? London 29C .. and it's going to stay like this for a week. I wouldn't mind if I wasn't pregnant but I'm staying away from the sun as even without it I'm easily sweating :P

I was wondering if any of you practiced and used hypnobirth during pregnancy/labour and if so, would you recommend it?
I'm thinking to buy a book + MP3 to listen to as someone I know gave birth within hours, no pain relief and she was practising it before.

Gem173 · 25/06/2018 16:43

@Nikkil123 your baby shower items look gorgeous! Cake looks yummy! Did you get anything that you haven’t already got?

@Emmasmum2013 I’m glad this all sounds normal! Will mention it to midwife anyway but it’s probably just my digestive system acting up.
My boss took me aside today and said that if the heat gets too hot then I can stay in our air conditioned unit and do fuck all lol or she can send me home half day if necessary. Which I thought seemed really nice!

In terms of heat, I think I’m in for a rough ride. Can’t really do anything in heat like this. Thank god I ain’t giving birth this week! xx

somersetsinger · 25/06/2018 21:00

Now I appreciate that you're all feeling like this, but I'm TOO HOT. Have broken out my most tent-like clothes to allow for air flow but this afternoon felt unbearable. My house retains the heat and there's no flippin' breeze. I'm really craving ice and slush puppies.

Ok. Rant over.

szwidix89, I found hypnobirthing very useful last time round and have been re-reading and doing the exercises for the last few weeks. (I've got The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves.) I didn't do a course, just worked through it by myself and chatted about it with DH. If nothing else, it exposes you to an alternative attitude to the people who like to tell you scare stories about pain and things going wrong.

Gem173 · 26/06/2018 07:00

Was pleasantly surprised last night by oh as he got the paddling pool out for me to just sit in, and even better got me a strawberry slush puppy and millionaires shortbread! Was so thoughtful of him!

peterpanwendy · 26/06/2018 08:20

@Gem173 that sounds like heaven 😍 I have my paddling pool up in the garden for feet-dipping it was sooo nice when I got in from work yesterday!

OP posts:
NikkiL123 · 26/06/2018 10:37

@Gem173 send him my way will you! I got in from work sat trying to cool the rabbits down for 20 minutes then went to mothercare then went and did a food shop then came home put it all away made his dinner and went to bed!! I also tried to put the moses basket stand together but i gave up at the first screw 😂😂

Got a health visitor coming tomorrow, apparently its a new thing they do coming before baby is born to introduce themselves🤷🏼‍♀️

BeesKnees9 · 26/06/2018 11:49

@nikkiL123 glad you had a good time the cake looks amazing!

So so bloody hot today, baby hasn’t moved all morning which is really unusual so feeling a bit stressed. I ate a bag of sugary sweets at 11:30 to see if that would get him to move a bit but nothing so far. I will give the maternity unit a call if nothing happens in the next 45 mins but feel silly/over anxious and no idea why :s

Gizzymum · 26/06/2018 15:01

@BeesKnees9 I hope baby started moving or you got checked out and all was okay

BeesKnees9 · 26/06/2018 15:52

Thanks @gizzymum Flowers

I called the day unit at 12:30 and they said to come in and I just got home. Baby’s heart rate was spot on, my blood pressure was high but blood oxygen levels low and they weren’t sure why! I was on the trace for 1.5 hours and baby did wriggle a couple of times. I have been told to rest at home and to call them if there are still no significant movements. Time will tell!

Gizzymum · 26/06/2018 16:10

@BeesKnees9 good news that baby wriggled and it's heart rate is ok. If they were really worried they'd have kept you in etc.
Hope baby wakes up and gives you a good kicking this afternoon/evening.

Gem173 · 26/06/2018 16:47

@Beesknees9 glad everything is okay, I think it’s the heat ! Put them to sleep. Although mine is kicking he does have a few days or hours where I get nothing and i put it down to heat.
Don’t worry ladies everyone can have a piece of my oh haha got a nice cold alcoholic free koppaberg waiting for me at home 😍 the thought of it gets me through this horrific bus journey home.

@NikkiL123 I had a health visitor call me but because I don’t get home till late, I’ve arranged for her to come on my first week of mat leave. Although now I’m moving that week, so will have to call her at some point and change the address.

@Peterpanwendy the pool does wonders! Just dipping my feet in relaxes me and somehow makes me feel less hot!
