As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

Yes! Don't go by feet or hands for warmth. Back of the neck or chest so you can feel close to their fore temperature.

Bear in mind you don't normally touch people on their chest when they are clothed, so it can feel surprisingly warm or even hot at first but a baby is too hot when they are sweating. They're too cold if they feel cool. When you do this regularly you'll be able to tell just by feeling IME that they have a temperature because it will just feel wrong.

BertieBotts · 02/06/2018 09:47

Core not fore.

peterpanwendy · 02/06/2018 09:50

@SpriteGirl thank you that's a great tip!

My favourite shops for baby clothes are: M&S, John Lewis, Next and Asda. Oh and The Little White Company but I don't own anything from there (yet!). I think Asda are great for vests and sleep suits as that's what you'll need most of and they're not too £££, M&S and John Lewis are perfect for the non-stereotype girl clothes and they're such nice quality! I've bought a romper, dress and a few cardis from them but mostly bigger sizes nothing newborn x

I've just been sorting out all the clothes and it's taken me hours - none of the sizing makes any sense Confused

Oh well have put them all into piles of the smallest size, then next size up etc. I seem to remember doing the same with DS1's clothes so perhaps it's all normal :o

I thought we'd have loads of short sleeved vests but actually that's what we seem to be shortest on. And I thought we'd have hardly any sleepsuits but actually there are so many I may set some aside to be used as spares only.

Had a lush day in town shopping with my cousins.
I got
2 maternity bras
1 normal tshirt bra just bigger size
2 body shop body mists in mango and moringa
Travel soother steriliser and tablets
2 more Father’s Day cards (one for oh and one for my dad from baby)
2 baby rattles
1 pair of breathable shoes because I went out in heels and couldn’t walk in the first 20 mins lol so bought some new shoes

Here’s some pics! Sorry for being enthusiastic, am just happy I spent time with the girls as I haven’t been shopping with people other than oh in ages. Nice to have time to spend on me even if I spent some on baby!

Ps. I know the travel soother steriliser is a bit much and probably excessive, but me and oh like our gadgets so even if we don’t use it much, it’s just a cool idea :)

Gem173 · 02/06/2018 18:07

Also, just to be in the baby clothes convo, primark does very cute baby clothes for both genders! Not much neutral but lots of boys and girls clothes and not bad at pricing either! Xx

Gem173 · 02/06/2018 18:36

Yay my bag came!

Emmasmum2013 · 02/06/2018 20:19

Awww bag looks gorgeous!! And good haul on the other stuff!!!

I’m tempted to get one of them portable steriliser things too. If you go for dummies you always need a supply of clean ones.

Gizzymum · 02/06/2018 20:52

I used mam dummies which came in a little case which could be used to sterilise them in the microwave.

BertieBotts · 02/06/2018 20:54

I feel all organised now too! Had a mass session sorting out the baby's changing table area.

On top there's the changing mat. Not totally my choice of phrasing but it does the job! I must admit I'm a little unsure about it being sideways, especially angled towards the left hand like that but perhaps I'll just move it around as i need it. Space on the front so we can put some distraction toys there or grab a nappy, wipe, clothes etc.

Second level down we have clothes, vests and sleepsuits and rompers at the front and normal people clothes at the back. These are just the very smallest sizes, that Aldi bag is FULL of the next stage of clothing and then the plastic bag has everything in stage 3. At the front I've mocked up a little nappy changing bit with a pack of nappies our friends left behind and a box full of plastic bags to use as nappy bags. The wipes and any creams can go on top of this box.

Bottom layer has bedding at the back, sheets on the left, blankets on the right. At the front is a stack of muslins, then wash cloths and lastly towels.

Can only do three pics on mobile so will be a double post, hang on...

Close up of the first size vests, sleepsuits and rompers! Yay!

We got these two rucksacks today as mini changing bags/useful small bags for trips out. We both have a bigger rucksack if needed too. DH's colour actually matches the pram a lot better than mine, lol.

Then here's a sneak preview of the cot all set up and ready to be scooted across to our bed when the time comes. There's a blue blanket which could also go on here but it's in the wash as it smelled weird.

Bloody hell Bertie you are super organised. I've only just ordered the cot today. All the clothes and blankets etc that I've bought have just been crammed into an ottoman. I need to up my game I think Grin

peterpanwendy · 02/06/2018 23:42

@Gem173 I've been recommended that Milton steriliser by so many people so I got one too! My best friend uses hers all the time :) also your bag is sooo nice x

@BertieBotts you are sooo organised you put me to shame! Our babies room is still a building site 🙈 lovely range of clothes x

StrawberryLemonade · 03/06/2018 07:33

Wow lots of amazing organisation here! I got my changing bag yesterday too - and whilst I was in boots got some lovely dresses for DD in the sale. She was walking round choosing what she wanted it was so cute. Kinda wish I knew the sex of the baby as they had some gorgeous sleepsuits in bright prints that I’d have loved to get.

You’ve just reminded me I need some sterilising tablets for breast pump etc. Must add them to the list!

BertieBotts · 03/06/2018 08:41

Yeah don't look at the baby's room or the rest of our bedroom, lol. But at least that one corner is nice!

Gem173 · 03/06/2018 08:59

My babys room is complete. Pushchair and cot are at my dads, they will go in when baby’s here :) ignore the washing clothes horse, it won’t be in there when baby comes

Having such a shitty day today ☹️ im in quite a bit of pain around my groin but only on my left side and its almost rock solid so did what everyone does and googled my symptoms, i think i have a hernia down there 😫
Also pets at home didn't have my rabbit's food

i made an effort and drove to the other side of town to the massive tesco hoping to cheer myself up with some cute baby clothes but unless you like fucking dinosaurs or octopus or are having a girl (which im not) then no such luck

none of my clothes fit me today so i look like a tramp with my bump sticking out the bottom of my t-shirt so trying to force myself to go to town and go to primark and be surrounded by 12 year olds all taller than me

Sorry for the rant ladies 😔 xx

Gem173 · 03/06/2018 12:04

@NikkiL123
Aw sorry your having a shitty day. And although your tired and feel like you look like crap, I do deffo reccomend primark to relieve your stresses. Great boys clothes range and you can always find something cheap for yourself ! Treat yourself! Xx

Gizzymum · 03/06/2018 12:20

You are all making me feel so unprepared!

We are moving DS1 into a different bedroom so new baby will get his old room, but we need to decorate it and assemble his furniture first. Then I need to wash DS1's newborn clothes and put them in the wardrobe. I also need to buy a new mattress for the crib, a baby monitor, size 1 nappies, the list goes on....!

Gem173 · 03/06/2018 12:32

Got a baby paddling pool with inflated bottom to stop baby hurting his little bum on the patio.
Test one was successful by dipping my feet in👍Keeping me cool in this heat!

NikkiL123 · 03/06/2018 12:32

@Gem173 that was also a disaster they either had anorexic sizes or huge and whilst i feel the huge sizes would fit thankfully they don't. Got some newborn size vests and sleepsuits so thats something i guess.

@Gizzymum dont worry all the baby's nursery furniture is still being stored at my mums house nursery needs to be decorated and old day bed removed before we can put it up and no baby clothes washed yet either x

Gem173 · 03/06/2018 12:32

Sorry forgot photo
