Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

So I went to a baby market and got some lush things for cheap! Also went to Morrison’s and got some baby booties (£2.50 each) and reindeer hat for 20p! My fav is the peas in a pod outfit to keep baby warm, he’s gunna look so funny 😂

He’s so cute @nikkil! I have a front placenta and they said all should be fine it’s a high anterior placenta. If it’s low it can block babies way out, however midwives try to move the placenta away from the way out closer to birth if it’s low lying.

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 18:03

@Gem173 those dungarees are sooooo cute! Is the Bud Light for his bottles? 😂
They didnt say if it was high or low 🤔 xx

Gem173 · 19/05/2018 18:46

@nikkil123 haha thanks and nooo they are my ohs little joys 😂 we are getting outside storage soon to chuck all that sort of crap in so baby won’t reach them when he will start to walk. And if you got a paper report from the people who done your scan it might say on that, also look at your report you got on your 20 week scan it might say on there.

Gem173 · 19/05/2018 18:47

Mine does on my 20 week scan.

@nikkil123 the report from your 20 week scan should mention it.

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 19:55

@Gem173 @SpriteGirl

Just looked at the notes, they never even mentioned it to me at the 20 week scan!! X

@nikkil123 that’s really weird :s it could well be lower anterior. Maybe you should call up the hospital if your that worried and ask them if that is what LA means

somersetsinger · 19/05/2018 20:09

Nikki, the NHS would have booked you in for an extra scan (around 32/34 weeks?) if the placenta was low on the 20 week scan. You would definitely know about it as it could affect birth. As far as I know, an anterior placenta only means you don't feel the movements as early.

SpriteGirl · 19/05/2018 20:11

They didn’t mention it to me either I just checked on the report. Just mention it to your midwife next time you see her. Nothing to worry about.

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 20:15

@Gem173 i'm seeing midwife on tuesday i will ask her if she knows x

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 20:17

@somersetsinger oh ok no extra scans that ive been told about so must be high. Thank you

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 20:17

@SpriteGirl will do when i see her on tuesday x

peterpanwendy · 19/05/2018 21:48

I have an upper anterior placenta too! Most of my movements have been low, it's reassuring to know that's the reason for the movements being the way they are x

nikkil123 · 19/05/2018 22:18

@peterpanwendy i did think i should be feeling him move more than i do but as its my first i wasnt sure whats normal! X

BertieBotts · 19/05/2018 22:31

It will be left anterior I think. Lower is called praevia in medical terms.

Gem173 · 20/05/2018 10:12

Hey ladies, all night I’ve had gas/bad belly. Not sure if it’s cause I ate McDonald’s yesterday for lunch! Baby didn’t move much yesterday like 2 kicks so got worried. Haven’t called anyone about it as I know they wouldn’t see me till I’m about 28 weeks. Hoping he will kick today and that yesterday was just one quiet day..

nikkil123 · 20/05/2018 11:06

@Gem173 have a really cold glass of water gulp it down quickly then lay on the floor flat on your back, should get baby moving! Good luck let us know xx

milney25 · 20/05/2018 11:20

Hi @Gem173 my trust will see you from 24 weeks, I think most do. So if you are really worrying do call them. But eat some choccie and have a glass of fresh orange and see what that does too! I know us lot with anterior placenta seem to have had quite a few days like that. I seem to know my pattern is now 5 days of strong kicks, 2 days of not much movement. I'm 29+4 now.

SpriteGirl · 20/05/2018 11:41

@milney25 that’s interesting about the 5 and the 2 days. Do you know if it coincides with your working week? I basically feel my baby more the days I’m at work (sitting in an office) and less at the weekend when I’m active.

milney25 · 20/05/2018 11:46

@SpriteGirl often it does yes, but then sometimes I have 3 quieter days in a row. I'm glad I've worked out some sort of a pattern! I asked about it at my consultant appt this week and she said it was totally normal, especially with anterior.

peterpanwendy · 20/05/2018 12:53

@Gem173 my baby has 'quiet days' too and on those days my bump appears smaller so I think she is just tucked in behind the placenta, other days I have a wonky bump and can feel tiny movements like her turning around, it just depends. I often find the days I am really busy rushing around she is quiet and as soon as I stop she moves. I agree the cold water and lying still on your back usually works for me. If you are worried about it though it definitely wouldn't hurt to call x

peterpanwendy · 20/05/2018 12:56

@milney25 I'm quite a way behind you (26 weeks today) so haven't really been looking for a pattern yet but now you saying about the quiet days makes me think, I usually have a day/couple of days where she sleeps loads then will have half an hour of being active then go quiet again right before a couple of days of non-stop moving (usually the weekend!) I didn't realise it could be whole day patterns rather than hour-by-hour if that makes sense. Thank you for sharing it's really interesting :)

milney25 · 20/05/2018 13:15

@peterpanwendy I can feel him kicking when I am standing and moving around now, so it's easier to keep an eye on it! But it's only been the last couple of weeks where I've been able to. The wonky belly is hilarious isn't it!!

All my kicks are currently low though, a mixture of the anterior placenta and the consultant told me currently breach.
