Sputnik's cervical update:
So good news on the cervical front, it's back down to 1cm and I'm free to be up and about (sort of what I was doing anyway) as long as I don't exaggerate. Whoopee!
In 2 weeks I can stop the medication I'm on to stop contractions, at which point, according to the gynae, we can prepare for take off pretty rapidly, as everything is ready to go. As far as I'm concerned bang on 37 weeks would be fine by me.
It's all getting frighteningly close, better do that hospital bag

Natty, that was good advice of Foxy's, get yourself down the cab if you haven't already.

sputnik · 10/05/2007 16:49

Cereal bars sound nice Foxy

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 16:50

Natty, I do agree that persistance can help. I would probably do the sitting in the office thing (pack a picnic). as long as you remain friendly and polite, what can they do? And I do like the idea of the local paper. Why are they throwing you out on the street? Do you want us to stage a waddle-in?

hollyandalice · 10/05/2007 16:52

HOORAY FOR SPUTNIK'S CERVIX!!! That's great news, bet you're so glad to be up and about again!

£3300 for a new boiler??!!! Fuck! Would someone else be cheaper?

I must go and cook dinner, but can't be arsed!

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 16:52

Yeeaaaaaa! Let's hear it for Sputniks Cervix!!!! Well done for holding together!

That's such good news, you must be pleased. (Apart from feeling like shite and having a tummy bug )

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 16:53

Did you manage to get dressed today Holly?

Oh I'm still here? Arse is still shity (DD, not mine!) and cooking to be done ... just popping to check May thread ...

hollyandalice · 10/05/2007 17:03

I am sort of dressed- trackie bums and jumper!

I hate it when the weather's like this! I don't drive, so can't really go anywhere if it rains, which means dd gets bored and cranky. I hate being stuck inside all the time, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to walk very far, I've got no-one to talk to and I'm just generally bored. Sometimes I get really jealous of dp because he gets to go out and talk to people and although he's working he enjoys his job. I love being at home with dd and wouldn't change it for the world, but being a SAHM is a lonely business!

Sorry for that, will be more cheerful now! I had to get that off my chest! Hopefully dp will bring me a McD's sundae home...yum!

riabutterflew · 10/05/2007 17:24

NT&E I would recommend the CAB too, and it might be worth trying the local paper. If all else fails, do you have surestart?

Am knackered. It has been a long day. Will check in to moan a lot later! (Don't want to burn the frozen pizzas do I?)

Congrats on the state of your bits sputnik! (bet you'll be pleased to have a change of subject now).

notsolilKel · 10/05/2007 17:36

Sputnik superb news re your cervix but you've not packed your hospital bag yet???????????????? And here I am, about to re-pack mine. Having forgotten what I put where and wondering at most inconvenient hours (3.35am) whether or not I have tea tree oil anywhere...

I know you must be desperate but do try to hold out for as long as poss. Preemie/37wks is sometimes not the joy you think when your LO has jaundice/breathing/feeding issues because they're a mite early (just my humble one-time experience).

I've done 2 loads of laundry today. Does this qualify as nesting? (It does in my book, considering am loathe to lug about anything heavier than a large bar of Milka at the moment)

Mmm can I eat my mint ice cream now, before dinner? How about instead of dinner? DH off having fun in the city w/out me anyway . Used to have bottle of chardonnay and hunk of cheese at times like these guess those days are past me now...

notsolilKel · 10/05/2007 17:40

Holly feeling your pain - DS screamed head off for an hour today. Either teething, ear infection, or MMR reaction. All 3 vying for status as most annoying problem at the moment... hopefully things improve for you soon when you can wheel about your LOs in the sunshine. Just think what it'd be like if we're having these babies in the winter!! Absolutely f*ck-all to do inside the house except pull all wires from walls and generally cause mayhem!

daisybump · 10/05/2007 17:41

Woo Hoo Sputnik.......you could be having your baby in just after two weeks...TWO WEEKS that is farking scary....

Glad you can be up and about a bit more though...at least it means no more stopping over with the MIL.

Started the Raspberry leaf today....2 tabs with my tea.....I'm expecting great things from it after reading the April thread...and who cares if TH doesn't get here in time....

In the interest of scientific measurement....I measured my "waist" again today...a whopping 45" . Do you think I'll make 50" before this PG is up????

daisybump · 10/05/2007 17:51

Nothing from the SOHs since lunchtime....looks like they're probably a little bit busy. It made for exciting reading this morning though!

Trying to brace myself into dealing with DS...he also has been having tantrums...two a day, usually when I tell him its time to switch the television off. He's got to do his homework and that's always an ordeal...but IMO reception class shouldn't really be getting homework...he has four or five words to learn and write every week, plus three reading books, a library book and a maths game. Is this normal...or have I sent him to boot camp instead of school?!!

NattyThomasandEllen · 10/05/2007 18:04

will stage a stand in at croydon housing office lmao
i just dont know what to do, feeling really down

sputnik · 10/05/2007 18:07

Thanks everyone, feeling more positive about everything
Lilkel, DD was 38 weeks and did have jaundice, but otherwise ok. I'll compromise on 38 for this one too, for fairness' sake He's really big already so wouldn't want to go too much past that. LOL at your hospital bag thread btw. Is it just the one bag ?

With you totally about the homework Daisy, why give a 5 year old homework ffs. In my day (prehistoric times, granted) you didn't get it til secondary school. Is that normal now?

daisybump · 10/05/2007 18:22

I think his school are just a wee bit Ofsted obsessed. Our friends little boy who goes to a different school doesn't get anything home with him, at all. The last notice to come home was asking us to practice letter formation with him as they have noticed that some children are having difficulties forming letters properly. I feel like writing back and asking "isn't teaching them how to form letters properly your job FFS?".

daisybump · 10/05/2007 18:25

Well obviously I wouldn't swear at the headmistress ....I'm 38 years old and probably older than she is, but she puts the fear of God into me, let alone a four year old...or maybe it just brings back memories of my school days when I was a meek, well disciplined, girly swot!

daisybump · 10/05/2007 18:31

Natty...I wish I was near Croydon so could come and support you. LOL at Foxy's suggestion of a waddle-in.

I've got my hospital bag and all the bits to put in it (except flip flops and big pants and a hand held fan and a water srpay and....wait...let me check hospital bag post again), but they're currently in differenet places all over the house. Really struggling to find the motivation to get it all organised and have visions of me charging around the house trying to find eveything in between contractions!

notsolilKel · 10/05/2007 18:58

"meek, well disciplined, girly swot" - u sure that was you?

KWYM about the fear of these authority figures though. As if I'm a little kid instead of mother of the kid....e.g. I'm scared to death of the woman who ran the nursery where I first took DS. Convinced she hates me & that this matters for some reason...

PACK YOUR BAGS LADIES!!! What're you waiting for, your DH to do it?? (if that don't motivate you, don't know what will Lol)

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 19:38

Natty! Poor you, you've handled this SO well and have always been upbeat about things. Is there any Citizens Advice help online?

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 19:40

Daisy, that is a lot of homework! My DS gets a reading book for us to read, a book or two from the Ruth Misking reading scheme, then he gets a few extra to read himself (because he IS the cleverest boy in the class!!). He does his writing and maths at school. which is just as well because I fall down badly on doing it with him

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 19:57

Helllloooo?

I'm all alone! Boo hoo!

daisybump · 10/05/2007 19:58

I suppose it will pay dividends when he's a corporate lawyer earning scads of moola and keeping his poor parents in the manner they could never quite afford!!

Yes, Lilkel...that was me...until I was about 25!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 10/05/2007 19:59

Ah - here you are. No time to catch up now but its my last day at work tomorrow.YIPPEE.

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 19:59

Yes, that's why I have decided to have so many children. So they can afford a really nice nursing home for me!

foxybrown · 10/05/2007 20:01

Wooooo-hoooo Tallulabelle! Hope you get a nice lunch and lovely pressies. And don't do any work!
