@shutupanddance1 To be fair it would be unreasonable to expect you to work up to 41 weeks Grin - I'm only in week 34, but feeling very much like the wheels have fallen off the wagon at this stage! Not assisted by dear baby's night-time can-can routine...

jadeward89 · 21/05/2018 10:04

@Heregoesnothing my baby likes to do night time trampoline jumps on my bladder! Last night I think I had to pee 3 times in 10minutes. My husband kept asking where I was going 😂 when we woke up he asked if I slept well (he’s lucky I had to get packed lunches ready).
@Shutupanddance I’m 37 weeks on Thursday 😊 baby won’t be allowed to arrive for a week after this weekend as my mum is away, she’s told my bump that it’s to stay put until they are back in the UK 😆

SylvesterTheCat · 21/05/2018 10:51

Wow to those who are working to full term! Feeling not too tired at 37+2 which has surprised me but I'm of expecting a slump once work stops at the end of this week when my mind/body will have time to catch up with itself and life isn't moving at such a pace. I'd like a bit of time to rest before baby arrives (which I'm expecting it to feel like a non-stop whirlwind like no other!).

Off to (finally!) buy a car sea today. I know I've left it late but I'm so overwhelmed by the advice/choice out there that I don't really know what I'm doing. What type has everyone else got? I'm thinking of a maxi-cosi (which can fit onto my pram) but do I get an infant car seat for 12 months (which they say is safer as baby lies flatter) or buy one which will see us through a few years? Isofix or not isofix? Argh!!

Shutupanddance1 · 21/05/2018 11:53

@Heregoeseverything Grin I’m lucky I’m a SAHP now

@jadeward89 my mum isn’t arriving in the country I live in until the 20th of next month.. she’ll be hoping I go overdue Shock DD1 was born at 38+2 so who knows!

For car seats, we got the maxicosi carbiofix seat for when bubs is smaller, I have a Joie every stage for my DD1 who is nearly 2 and I’ll probably buy a second one for this baby as well. It’s extended RF and it’s pretty comfy as well for her, suppose to do them up to they are 12 (doubt it somehow!)

jadeward89 · 21/05/2018 12:20

@Shutupanddance1 I’ve been late with all three so far but it really would be Sod’s law that it happens as she goes away, more so because it’s half term and Hers is the one house I know the kids are happiest to go to (helps that it’s 10 mins from mine too) and my siblings are all there to help too. She’s also the one person who I called when labour was getting too much last time and I needed her to calm me down. Fingers crossed baby stays put until your mum arrives for you.

HoneyBee03 · 21/05/2018 13:21

I would love to know what's happened to Hearts! Seems very odd, more because I just can't imagine posting such elaborate lies but I guess it does happen on here.

I'm a bit behind most of you at 34+4 but my lord, I suddenly feel very pregnant. I feel heavy, stretch marks have suddenly appeared, my hips hurt, I'm waddling, acid reflux is non-stop and I'm shattered. My boss is away for a few weeks now so I'm covering his work while he's gone, and it's been fun trying to get my baby-brain around it all this morning!

I've got a fairly standard car seat that uses the seatbelt because it came with my Mothercare Journey travel system, which is a prezzie from my parents. Baby will grow out of it at around 9 months so I plan then to get a new isofix car seat that will last a few years.

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 13:29

I'm on the last working run! 38 weeks Saturday and working til Friday, so excited to be done as I'm so so uncomfy!

We've gone isofix and the car seat we got with the pram. Isofix just seems to make it that bit easier but now wondering whether we should have got an all stages one

RockinRobinTweets · 21/05/2018 15:41

I’m having another ‘is this it’ day today. Woke up from a nap at 2 and tummy is sore with regular tightenings. Been to the toilet a lot today too. Will see if it gets more painful I suppose

SylvesterTheCat · 21/05/2018 15:47

Hooray finally ordered the car seat from mothercare which should arrive in 3days. Decided on Maxi cosi rock (0-12 months) with isofix then will buy maxi cosi seat to take us up to four years old.
Feel relieved it's now ordered and on its way.

@RockinRobinTweets hope you're feeling ok. Good luck with everything if it does turn out in fact to be your "it day"!

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 16:44

Good luck @rockinrobintweets, I've had a few weeks of that now so fingers crossed for you!!!

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 17:15

Pathetic post alert.....

Having a major freak out about the birth. Booked for an ELCS for tokophobia but still so scared. Is it normal? I've only just really started thinking about it to be honest (sounds silly I know but I've just been too busy to consider it). I know women do it every day but the last time I was in a hospital I was the one being born!!!

ElizabethLemon · 21/05/2018 18:29

@Northernbeachbum I think it’s totally normal. The unknown is scary and you’ve got the unknown of the birth and also of having a tiny baby, it’s a lot to think about! You’ll be fine. Have you written any kind of birth plan or preferences for your section? The more control I have the less anxious I feel, even if it’s something small.

We met the consultant obstetrician today and had a c section approved for next Thursday! I will be 39+3 so panicking a bit that I’ll go into labour before then but that’s the earliest they could book me in so I’ve just got to try and relax. We know all the tips
for trying to go into labour but any tips for not going into labour??

We’ve got a meeting with the paediatric neurologist tomorrow and then hopefully I can go a whole week without any appointments. I feel like I might as well have been sleeping at the hospital these last couple of weeks, I’m sure the staff are sick of the sight of me.

@RockinRobinTweets sounds quite promising! Lots of pooing and back ache was how my last labour started.

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 18:46

@ElizabethLemon, no I haven't yet but I will when I see my midwife next week. I want to establish what options I have with her (I'm hoping to see the same one again as she's fab but its been so hit and miss).

Oh thats exciting, maybe do the opposite?! No currys, no sex, no long walks? Remaining in a headstand so gravity has no chance? I take it if you get twinges they will get you in quickly. Did you talk through the options as I know you were a little hesitant to rush to book the C sec? Hopefully tomorrows meeting goes well

ElizabethLemon · 21/05/2018 19:04

Hahaha, yes I’ll try walking with my hands so I can remain upside down until next week. I think that would be quite effective!

I spoke with my community midwife yesterday and talked through some of my concerns. She was very kind and while she obviously couldn’t tell me there were no risks and I’d be out of bed bouncing around a couple of hours later, the conversation made me realise that putting myself through the anxiety of waiting for and going through a natural birth just isn’t worth it.

Im not 100% happy about it but it definitely feels like the right decision. The consultant was great and said that she totally understood my reasons and they booked it there and then.

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 19:37

I think you'd become a youtube sensation in no time at all!

Great that they helped you go through it all so you could be confident in your decision. Do you know what tomorrows meeting is regarding?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 21/05/2018 19:47

@Northernbeachbum Totally normal I think. I'm on my second and keep panicking about the little things. One of the mums at preschool has 5, she said it never got any easier for her in terms of the anticipation either.

I saw my consultant today (c-section booked for 2 weeks on thursday) and I really get the feeling that for electives they are open to most things. She must have told me 10 times to ask for whatever I want on the day, now I just need to figure out what on earth that is.

@RockinRobinTweets Good luck. Ds was definitely back ache.

@@ElizabethLemon I was told today to take it easy, no driving baby's head into my pelvis, no pineapple? and no sex. Bit confused about the pineapple but the rest makes sense I suppose.

SylvesterTheCat · 21/05/2018 22:33

Haha pineapple 🍍
Grin

jadeward89 · 21/05/2018 22:36

@Dinosauratemydaffodils (fresh) pineapple can bring on labour apparently. Nothing worked for any of mine so I don’t know haha.
I keep panicking that I can’t picture life with a new baby, I can’t see past me having bump. I’m actually more scared this time than I was having number 2 & 3. There has been such a gap for me that I can’t imagine a baby being in the Moses basket or baby chair etc.
I’m also finding that I am struggling with my emotions, all I actually want is the baby here now because I feel so crap and unable to be a mum.
I slept for 4 hours today, thankfully husband was able to pick up the kids as I slept from 2 until 6pm, I’ve hardly seen the big 3 today 😔 (sorry for long post)

SylvesterTheCat · 21/05/2018 22:36

Btw (and sorry if this has already been discussed here) but is anyone doing perineum massage? I was handed a leaflet from my midwife and had a go but found it rather uncomfortable. Sorry if tmi.

RockinRobinTweets · 21/05/2018 22:41

It stopped. I’m very happy to wait for my elcs date - would just prefer to not have the am I/am I not quandary.

Shutupanddance1 · 22/05/2018 06:14

@Dinosauratemydaffodils the no sex would be due to the progesterone but no pineapple? You’d have to be eating tons of the stuff for it to have any sort of effect Hmm.

Finally made space in my room today for the cot to go beside our bed. Not much left at all on my to do list.

WreckItRach · 22/05/2018 07:36

@jadeward89 sorry you are not having a good time at the minute. I can't imagine how hard it is with 3 more! The baby will be here before you know it and you are not being a bad mum for not being able to spend as much time with the others. It's hard work growing a human. Try and cut yourself some slack ❤️
@SylvesterTheCat I haven't tried doing it at all.
@Shutupanddance1 Well done! I need to check my crib fits down the side of our, if not me and DH will need to swap sides! What else is on your list? I think I'm ready...

ElizabethLemon · 22/05/2018 08:18

Apparently you’d have to eat 8 pineapples to start softening the cervix! Do you think people do eat 8? 😅 I get a sort of fuzzy/itchy mouth if I eat a lot of pineapple.

@Northernbeachbum It’s just to meet and have a chat about the condition the baby has. I’m hoping the neurologist will be able to give us a little bit more info about any ongoing problems the he might have and possible treatment. So far we’ve talked to a consultant fetal medicine Dr and a consultant obstetrician who were both very reassuring and the obstetrician even said she’d worked with children born with the same thing my baby has and that they’ve all been absolutely fine. However it will be good to talk to the “expert”.

@SylvesterTheCat I haven’t tried it either time, the thought of it makes me go a bit funny.

@jadeward89 I feel for you. The last slog is hard, it must be even harder when you’ve got 3 others to think of. Don’t feel bad about resting though, you need to. Are your big ones excited for the new baby?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 22/05/2018 08:47

@SylvesterTheCat Tried it with ds, hated it and found it fairly painful. No idea if it made a difference but they managed to get forceps in without any issues whatsoever, no tears/need for cuts (just a shame they couldn't dislodge ds with them).

Definitely couldn't eat 8 pineapples so should be fairly safe on that front.

jadeward89 · 22/05/2018 09:12

Thanks you for being so understanding 😊
My daughter (middle) is the most excited out of them. Our eldest is at that age we’re unless you are a Pokemon you aren’t of any interest and the youngest is having days of excitement but I think he’s scared too.

I can hardly eat a few pieces of pineapple so no way could I eat 8.
Think I’m going to try and get my exercise ball blown up and try bouncing on that to see if that helps at all.
