Agh i wish i could get all my furniture now :-( im still waiting on my kitchen to be fitted and my conservatory to be finished and the whole house painted aghhh but im excited for you it must be lovely... ooo i cant wait.

Hopeitwontbebig: My friend has the same as you though she is on her first baby she just had her 32 week scan and they told her the baby was 4lb now and that she should wait till the baby is ready to come out she was also worried that having the baby in general will re trigger her ibs and her endimetrosis ( cant spell that) but some cases it can clear it altogether but her view is it's worth it now. they predicted her baby should be 7lb by 40 weeks so just double check babys weight/size on ur 32 week.

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/06/2007 11:50

(((((Sprakly thanks for message other day, meant to say that was very sweet of you to have written my birthday in your diary. Have you had a chance to look at our BPI thread?)))))

I ordered a Maxi Cosi baby seat and my pram from the Glasgow Pram Centre. They sent me a letter last week saying the manufacturers were out of stock of the carseat until mid August...... won't start panicking just yet

Thanks for all the advice re the bump support - I will have a chat with my MW when I see her next week. I also like the sound of the pillows and am going to take a look at them too.

I'm also having dreams (nightmares?! ) about having a big baby. DD1 has also decided that we should call the baby "Pink Muffin", (which in itself is a slightly odd development as up until now she's been insisting on Olivia!) and last night I had some really bizarre dreams about giving birth to a massive muffin covered in sparkly icing, which was rather scary . Not sure if this is my hormones or a lack of alcohol in my body causing me to hallucinate!

Pennypops - your piccy made me giggle, loving this topary stuff - will be briefing my DH later as my ladygarden is well out of my reach now and hidden by my bump! (BTW sorry if TMI there )

HIWBB - hope you have a nice time catching up with your DH tonight!

Hello everyone

Laksa - you made me laugh re ladygarden personally i didn't worry too much last time - no internals apart from a bleed at 26 wks for me with last pregnancy.

Thomcat - i'm a hayfever sufferer too. Spoke to my gp and i've been prescribed beconase spray and opticrom eye drops and told to go back if i really need antihistimine but so far i'm managing. My gp said simular to Holly29 but don't suffer speak to your gp!

Mrs Fish - I'm tired too still trying to catch up from late nights last weekend but i'm thinking it's also 3rd trimester tiredness!

Canadianmum - i'm 27 wks on sunday and i'm suddenly finding it hard to get up from floor and generally lots of aches and pains. Had cramp at 5am and have had a tight calf muscle all day! Terrible backache yesterday so generally grumpy!

HIWBB - i know people who were induced because of previous big babes so if it's worrying you i think you've got a good case!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend xx

Canadian Mum,

I bought a huge V-shaped pillow from Argos and it only cost £6. I love it and it will apparently be brilliant when I am breastfeeding too! I thought all the maternity ones seemed really dear and mine works a treat. x

seamonster · 15/06/2007 17:12

I keep falling asleep at the moment
rofl at ladygarden

seamonster · 15/06/2007 17:13

i too have a v shaped pillow, useful.

kinki · 15/06/2007 19:52

I've got a v-shaped pillow too. I got it to prop me up in bed at night plus it will be useful for breastfeeding. I used one for bf when I was in hospital with ds2 and it was really comfy to use. I never got round to buying one of my own back then, I made do with 2 oblong cushions positioned in a 'v' iyswim. I should imagine it would also be good to put behind the baby when he's older and learning to sit up. It'll probably have a lot of use all for a few quid.

All this talk of ladygardens is giving me horrible, horrible, just simply horrible memories of the single most hideous and embarrasing moment of my life. Ever. It was just before ds1's section. It was so cringe worthy I don't think I can even mention it here. I can't even say get me a few drinks to loosen my tongue can I? I MIGHT let on, it was so morbidly humiliating at the time! I want to cry just thinking of it.

Holly and chatty, interesting what you say about beconase, I was prescribed it too this week. I hope it's safe!

About internals: with ds1, only ever had them in labour, with ds2 never had one at all in the build up to a planned section. With this one, I stupidly mentioned to the dr about my stress incontinence and she examined me there and then. I know when in labour the staff are always particular at getting your permission before they proceed with it, its never sprung on you with no warning.

I've had a funny old evening. I got home from work to a very worried and sheepish looking ds1. He fessed up straight away: he'd been sent to the headmaster's today for doing the one fingered salute to a classmate (in response to him swearing at him). Gulp. All you first timers out there, you do realise its only in 7 little years time that you'll be dealing with your little baby being rude and told off by the headmaster, don't you? Believe everyone when they say it flies by. Oh and ds2 decided tonight that he wants to start potty training. I could really do without that right now. Hopefully he'll have forgotten about it by morning.

Its lovely to hear of nurseries beginning to take shape. It makes it all seem so real.

kinki · 16/06/2007 00:45

I promised somebody on another thread that I'd put some photos up on my profile. Finally got round to doing it. (The boys are a bit older now, but these were the ones I had easiest to hand.) Hard to find one of me because I'm the one usually behind the lens.

seamonster · 16/06/2007 10:21

You do realise that we are all desperate to know what happened now, don't you?

I'll tell an embarrassing/amusing story if you will....

AnguaVonUberwald · 16/06/2007 10:30

Hey all of you, I was on the Original "due in Sept 07", but unfortunatly had a MC in january. I haven't felt able to be back since, but am now ready to start TTC again, and wanted to wish you all the best!!! I hope its going really well for all of you and look forward to hearing about your boucing new babies.

ccpink · 16/06/2007 11:08

I really want to hear the funny stories I love the lady garden disasters and photo. I can still manage but have to press my bump in a bit to do the top
My mum got my a long bolster type pillow from france and has been afb although dh thinks I just cuddle it and not him. Fell so hot in bed [unfortunately not in a sexy way] that can't stand touching!!!
Has anyone else been getting cramp. I seem to have it in one leg only but it kills and then hurts even when it's gone.
I got my moses basket this week off e-bay too. Picked what I wanted from mamas and papas and then have been watching out. Getting cot this week-end too! Very exciting
Have a fab week-end
cc

Nettee · 16/06/2007 11:40

Angua - lovely to hear from you - lots of luck with TTC - look forward to seeing you on the antenatal boards again soon

Kinki - please tell us - we're dying to know now

  • I loved the picture in the link by the way pmsl

seriously busy shift yesterday afternoon on the antenatal/postnatal ward but now I have a whole week off so am going to enjoy it.

PurpleLostPrincess · 16/06/2007 12:43

All the best angua, do tell us when you are successful!?

Hello all! I have a big v-pillow that I borrowed from a friend and I'm going to have to buy my own and give it back and I can't imagine life without it!

I've been waking up every hour or so for the last few weeks so last night we did an experiment and DH slept downstairs so I could have the bed to myself. I still woke up at 2.30am and 4.30am but that is good going for me now so I'm feeling a bit better!

I'm all excited too - we have ordered the cotbed mattress and I'm bidding on a gorgeous moses basket on ebay (local pickup so I'm sure I'll get it!). Also, I've ordered a load of cotbed sheets etc. We've started getting all sorts of lovely little pink clothes etc and I've picked the buggy/car chair...

DH put his hand on my bump the other morning and said "morning princess!" which made me get all emotional lol! I later bought a pink bib with 'Daddy's Little Princess' on it and made him cry lol!!

I have a hilarious email tucked away somewhere about keeping ladygardens tidy but it's really really long. Would have you in tears with laughter though. Come on kinki, we're dying to hear your story!

kinki · 16/06/2007 20:00

Ok Ok Ok. I cannot feel anymore humiliated so as long as I get some cringy stories back in return I'll divulge the most horrendous experience EVER in my life.

I work in the local hospital. So obviously I know a lot of staff. Years ago I used to work a lot of nights, and part of that involved working in theatres. Anyway jump to a particular night to me being in labour with ds1. Gloss over this next bit as everything was just fine in the end. Things started to go a a bit wrong. Ds1's heartbeat suddenly dropped really low and the decision to do a section was made - and to do it very quickly.

They ran me to theatre where about 8 colleagues were rushing around getting ready. Someone whipped off my covers to prep me, ie shave and clean. I was glad to see the scrub nurse, ie shaver, was an older female nurse. Phew. My legs were dead, due to an epidural, so she called for someone to hold them. Two male colleagues suddenly appear, to hold my legs while my ladygarden is defuzzed. I'm just about holding it together, I'm worried about the baby, but I'm dying with embarrassment too. But everyone is being professional and not saying much to me. Then an oda, young and male, needs to attach the heart monitor. So he whips away the one remaining gown covering my chest and start to attach leads. I'm laying buttnaked, two legs held by colleagues while someone is still shaving ladygarden. At the point when the oda is holding my left nork to attach that lead, he looks up at me and squeals "oh you're from x-ray, I didn't realise it was you, hey everyone it's ". B*gger, my cover is blown. Next voice is from nurse (male) holding leg next to shaving action: "I thought I recognised you". I lift my head to see him looking at my fanjo and manage a pathetic "You recognise me from that angle?" The next few minutes was spent receiving good luck wishes and sentiments from the oda and other colleagues who all now realised who I am. You know how when some people chat with you, they sometimes go into suspended animation and stop what they're doing? Well for those few minutes the oda kept hold of my left nork while he chatted.

I suppose the shame, embarrassement, and humiliation took my mind of a very stressfull situation. Soon enough they were covering me with gowns and all getting on with the business of getting the baby out. But I could never look that oda in the eye again. It took a long time before I didn't blush everytime I went into theatre after that. Try to imagine how I felt. Think about your work colleagues. Which male colleagues would you have hold your legs while maybe your boss shaves your ladygarden. And which male colleague would you like to hold your nork for 2 minutes, while another half dozen have a chat with you. Can you feel my shame? Can't believe I've just shared that. OMG!

canadianmum · 16/06/2007 20:42

kinki - OMG!!!!

MrsFish · 16/06/2007 20:58

OMG - that is so embarrassing, poor you

OK- I'll share an embarrassing story

Went to a chiropractor (first time ever) was told to get undressed and put on a gown, at least thats what I thought they said, so I stripped down to my undies ( a thong) and put the gown on and went in to see the bloke. All was going well until he told me to stand in front of him, he then opened the gown at the back (obviously to see my spine etc), but opened it all the way and then asked me to bend over and touch my toes So there I was stark naked basically apart from the undies having to bend over with my huge ass in his face. Mortified I nearly died After that I went out and bought some Bridget Jones knickers

kinki · 16/06/2007 21:06

Mrs F, I feel your pain.

PurpleLostPrincess · 16/06/2007 22:25

How brave of you both to share your stories. I would have been completely mortified too bless you. Especially when I think about my work colleagues and the idea of any of them seeing me like that, you poor thing kinki!!

(I have to admit that I did have a little teeny tiny chuckle for a very brief moment but only due to your amazing story telling abilites, not your situation).

I was only 17 when I had DS and nobody warned me that I might poo myself whilst giving birth. (Since then, everybody has told me how normal it is - tut!). Wish I had known because there were about 6 or 7 nurses and doctors in the theatre (long story!) and I was highly embarassed. I only knew because of the smell. I made sure when I had DD that I didn't eat too much when I went into labour as I was paranoid it would happen again!

seamonster · 17/06/2007 08:09

Very good and perhaps a little funny? Now maybe not then.
Mine isn't in the same league as yours, but anyway...
When I was pushing ds1 out the midwife turned to us and exclaimed;
"Ooh, there's a lot of hair down there!"
Needless to say even in my pain I was embarrassed (and a little confused as I had luckily trimmed and pruned the day before) and replied
"Who, me?" (mortified voice)
they both laughed and dp still laughs and takes the p about it now.

He also takes the p about the poo situation, even though I have been lucky not to have 'been there'.

(yet)

FilBrit · 17/06/2007 09:14

Kinki what a fantastic story! Do you still work at the same hospital?

Seamonster, PLP and Mrs Fish - loved your stories too

Im trying to think of a suitably humiliating story to share with you all - Am sure I'll think of something soon!

Just come off the phone from family in the Philippines and have just found out from my SIL that in Manila (where I'm having DD2) that when I have my elective C section (low lying placenta, whihc I've been advised looks unlikely to move)with a spinal block, it's not common practice for you to able to take someone into the operating theatre to hold your hand and take the baby when it's born. Feeling v v nervous now (esp as my Filipino is a bit patchy) and a bit sad as DD2 will be given to DH outside while they sew me up - does anyone have experience of being alone in this situation and was it ok?

Filbrit x

ccpink · 17/06/2007 09:41

Fabulous stories
Try not to panic Filbrit - Can't advise but am certain someone on here will reassure you
cc

kinki · 17/06/2007 09:53

FilB, yes I do, but its been a long, long while since I had to go to theatres. And there's been a healthy turnover of staff since then too, thank goodness!

Talking of theatres, my dh came into both my sections with me. But after that horrendous ordeal I was joking about, I had to be fully anaesthetised to get the placenta out. Dh went back to the ward with ds1, and I wasn't released from theatre for another couple of hours. Meanwhile dh enjoyed some quiet time with ds bonding with him skin to skin tucked in his shirt. He probably wouldn't have had the chance to do this if I'd been there, so he was very grateful for that time.

kinki · 17/06/2007 10:09

Ohh, better add, that 2 hour delay was nothing serious. Wouldn't want to worry anyone! We were only waiting for porters and an escort in the middle of the night. I was out of it, so didn't know any different. I get so paranoid I'll say something on here that will put people off or cause worry.

Pooping in labour was always a big worry of mine. I could cope with internals, an audience and podding and poking, but couldn't cope with pooping so well.

Seamonster (nearly abbreviated you to seamon then but thought better of it), re hair, the exact same thing happened to my mate. I had to check your profile, because she recounts it the same way as you do. But you're not her, but its just as funny! I'm loving these stories. Keep 'em comng.

Hopeitwontbebig · 17/06/2007 14:31

Oh Kinki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've not read all the posts yet, but I HAVE READ YOUR STORY!!!!!

I'm just wiping the tears of my face now..... oh I mustn't laugh, but that was one of THE funniest stories I've heard in a LONG time, but hey I'm feeling your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right, will catch up on other posts now!
