Hopeitwontbebig · 14/06/2007 19:50

OP posts:
seamonster · 14/06/2007 19:51

I meant I'm used to it...
I can't say things right tonight.

seamonster · 14/06/2007 19:53

In all about 4/5 hours i suppose. (three births)
ds2 took about 20 minutes- 1/2 an hour

Hopeitwontbebig · 14/06/2007 20:07

wonder how long this LO will take? DS1 18 hours, DS2 4 but only 45mins after I had waters broken at 3cm.

Do you reckon it's quicker when you're induced?

Mrs Mars - so did you end up staying at home today? I feel heaps better - got some sleep during the day and feel more human. I dont think the weather is helping - it is so humid in london and I think that is effecting how I feel. Am hoping that these supplements kick in and make me feel better.

Re. the trimming - I can still manage it myself but DH has been readied for his services for not only trimming but also the perenium (is that how you spell it?) massage! Ha ha.

I take my hats off to gym bunny! Well done for getting to the gym! I do miss my workouts!

Does anyone else get bump ache by the end of the day? Mine is starting to get quite sore each day from about 6pm onwards...

I was thinking of getting one of those support belts or belly bands to try and help. Has anyone tried them as I'm not sure if it will actually be any use or are they just another marketing ploy to part me from my pennies, but end up being a bit useless... any advice...?

PurpleLostPrincess · 15/06/2007 00:28

Yes, I get bump ache all the time and I often get a stitch just on the right hand side. Interested to know if anybody has had any experience with the bump bands as I've been considering that too!

MrsFish · 15/06/2007 08:44

I have been thinking of them too but haven't found out where to get one yet. My MiL reckons it would be a good idea and would help with the stitch.

Tinkjon · 15/06/2007 09:45

Don't buy a bump band, you can get them from an NHS physio. I get a really bad stitch if I walk further than the end of the road and my midwife said that I should get referred to a physio and get a support belt. I haven't made an appointment yet (frankly have had enough of all the poking and prodding!)but I got the impression that I'd be prescribed one for free from a physio... so have a chat with your m/w's and I'm sure they can help.

sophus · 15/06/2007 09:53

I had a dream last night that i was given some paperwork with the expected weight of my baby at its due date, and it said 18 lbs. OWWWWWW.

kinki · 15/06/2007 10:16

oooouuuuucccchhhhh sophus!

canadianmum · 15/06/2007 10:28

sophus - let's hope that one doesn't come true!

Anyone using a maternity pillow at night? I am just using a normal one and am wondering if the extra expense for a super-size one is worth it?

I had to get up and eat at 3.30am for the last 2 nights - woke up absolutely starving even though I had a decent supper.

I am 27 wks tomorrow but already feel like I am well into the third trimester, getting up and down from the floor is not a pretty sight.

sophus · 15/06/2007 10:36

ouch - indeed.
i have a maternity pillow which a friend gave me and i love it, really useful for sleeping on your side and contorting yourself into any number of positions. Cat likes it too as she can really stretch out along the length of it.

Pennypops · 15/06/2007 10:48

Morning lovely Mumsnetters - I hope you're all looking forward to the weekend. Hopey, Seamonster and Fio - I hope you are not too down about your travelling men! Hopefully your virtual friends and real friends can stop you feeling too and Hopey I LOVE the picture. Made me laugh out loud - my office must think I've lost the plot.

PLP and Filbrit - my bump used to get very achey and "stitchy" up to about 2 weeks ago then it sort of settled down I think my abs have not officially given up and stopped fighting. One of the books I have (by Lesley Regan?) said those maternity belts are really good for relieving bump and back pain - was thinking about getting one for my back.

CanadianMum - I've been using one of those support pillows from the NCT catalogue that are sort of flat in the middle but with a wedge at both ends. Its really helped me sleep better - I only wake up about once a night now whereas before it was getting to about 4 or 5 times.

Pennypops · 15/06/2007 10:49

I meant my abs have now given up and stopped fighting. Can't type today.....

loobybump · 15/06/2007 10:50

Sophus thats so strange because all my dreams recently have been about having a big baby but that heavy i cant hold it!!! V strange. Though last nights dream was that i had twins.

canadianmum · 15/06/2007 11:09

I am so excited, the cot and changing table just got delivered! I ordered them 4 days ago from Mamas and papas because last time we had major problems with delivery.

Wow - I am really going to have another baby.......

Pennypops - thks for the tip, I am off to browse the NCT online shop......

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/06/2007 11:09

Pennypops, glad you liked the pic Been contemplating what sort of topiary to have done.. heart.... star.... arrow..... Could you imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS feeling LOADS better today, DH is home tonight YAY Can't wait to see him.

Sophus, ouch, your dream!!! I'm hoping I don't creep up into the 11lb stakes this time.

Can I have an opinion please....................

Re Big Babies......................

As you are all aware, I hope it won't be big....... because my last 2 were. Thing is, I delivered them both no problems, BUT and it's a big but (excuse pun) ahum, I developed LOADS of problems with my bladder after having DS2. I had to have a laparoscopy and cystoscopy to explore what was going on, it turned out that I had developed Irritable Bladder Syndrome, which is similar to IBS (which I also have). I have it mostly under control, by changing my diet and avoiding orange juice etc.

The thing I was wondering really was, could delivering another big baby start it all off again. It really was SO bad at the time. I spent nearly 3 years feeling like I was constantly busting for a wee, no relief when I went.

They're going to scan me at 32 weeks. I'm wondering whether to ask to be induced at 38 weeks?????????????

Aw Canadianmum you must be so excited! We haven't started having the baby furniture arrive yet - must be lovely!

Hopey being a first timer I'm afraid I can't offer you any sensible answer to your question as I just don't know. I do however wish you a joyful reunion with your Dh!

HIWBB - sorry can't help with your problem as I have no experience, but fingers crossed it won't happen this time.

Canadianmum - I have a maternity pillow from Mothercare, its about 4ft long and I love it. Cost £25 iirc
