i was getting awful cramp, leaping around in agony in the middle of the night until i remmebered i couldn't leap around. I do streatching exercises every night now in bed before i go to sleep, just lie there and flex your foot up as much as possible - since i've been doing it i haven't had cramp once.
i've decided i can't wait until September for a baby so i'm picking up a kitten tonight. DP is away on business so will be in for a surprise when he gets home.
i have also started wanting a drink - and i never drank much in the first place. I tend to just had a sip of whatever DP is drinking - cold lager in the hot weatner sure is lovely. Think i might explore some alcohol free routes.
Baby is much quieter since i've got back from hols - i tend to have sore tummy days when I reckon it's growing and the skin is stretching again. It doesn't move much on these days, plus if i'm busy then i think it gets lulled to sleep,, then in the evenings or during boring meetings it has a right ol' kickabout.
I've got both my glucose test and my anti-D nex week, have told DP he can come and hold my hand for the anti-D.
hope everyone is well and happy.
xx

hi all
good to see everyone's well. I heard at my yoga class that bananas are good for night leg cramps - something to do with the magnesium. I haven't had them yet or the puffy feet thing thought I definately have major water retention as this is what causes the carpel tunnel syndrome that I've got.
Anyway, went to midwife this am and all was well which is great.

I'm really missing alcohol I have to say - have had the occasional drink and am definately with Zoe Williams too! the alcohol free stuff just doesn't seem to excite me sadly - I think perhaps I'm acutally just missing getting drunk! I live really near a big common and at the weekend it was packed full of people picnicing & boozing...
Suppose it's something to look forward to once I've stopped breastfeeding, so when's that? 2009?

Rin23 · 05/06/2007 13:58

By the way, Nettee, I have also had really strong stomach crampy pains - shooting pains round near my belly button (which also makes me feel a bit sick as I am quite squeamishly sensitive about my belly button). I've had them on and off for the last few weeks so pretty sure they are growth spurts...

MrsMar · 05/06/2007 14:43

that wouldn't be clapham common would it Rin??? I seem to remember you're another St Georges' customer or am I being dumb?? I'm just around the corner (towards Wandsworth common) and I can't bear seeing everyone having lovely picnics at the moment. I'm more jealous of their ability to jump around and wear skimpy clothing, but a cold beer or big glass of Pimms is like nectar to me right now!

Is anyone starting to waddle at all? I'm really conscious that I am, I'm trying to cultivate a more sexy swagger, but it definitely comes across as a less sexy waddle!

EdieMcredie · 05/06/2007 16:06

MrsMar, yes definitely a waddler here! I seem to walk with my back arched back which is killing me!

Bought loads of clothes and things for baby today. There are some real bargains out there from Tesco and H&M and got a lovely jumper in the Monsoon sale for £7 from £26.

seamonster · 05/06/2007 16:14

I feel like the Tin man, have to walk to school really slowly.

amyclaramum · 05/06/2007 16:23

Mrs Mar - loving the Margot fancy dress idea will get DH a cravat and blazer to go as Jerry !!

Thanks Rin and Sea Monster for the tips on avoiding cramps !

The whole no alcohol thing is so patronising isn't it ? I agree with Zoe Williams - why treat pregnant women like children that can't monitor their alcohol units ? Having said that I haven't really fancied a drink as so much was consumed over Christmas when I didn't know I was pregnant that I've been feeling really guilty ever since!

Rin23 · 05/06/2007 16:25

Yes, tis clapham common indeed MrsMar! Why do all the bikini clad people have to look so damn happy and relaxed as they have their boozy picnics?

ooh, Edie, I'm looking forward to checking the sales out, didn't know they'd started!

seamonster · 05/06/2007 16:26

I feel guilty that one of the first things I thought when I found out was
"Oh fgs, I've just bought loads of new (smaller) clothes."

MrsMar · 05/06/2007 18:19

amyclaramum - have fun!!!! Alternatively if you've seen it and love it as much as I do you could go as Beverly from Abigail's party. Alison Steadman was 7 months pregnant when the filmed it, which is why she wore that voluminous orange dress! Your other half could be Lawrence ("Nobody likes olives Lawrence!")

I'm so glad I'm not alone on the waddling front. So unladylike, but hey! I was never a lady in the first place! hahahahaha!

Seamonster - don't feel guilty - I've spent all spring looking at all the lovely clothes I can't wear thinking damndamndamndamn!!! Not that I'd rather not be pregnant, I'd just rather we could have babies without actually getting gigantic! Selfish? Moi?

Actually maybe I am terribly selfish, I haven't bought anything for my poor baby to wear! My sister keeps promising me all her unisex baby stuff, white sleep suits etc, but so far I've yet to see them. Everyone has said that I'll get given loads of clothes, so I've taken them at their word and not bought a thing! oops! Plenty of time for panic buying though!

Chattyhan · 06/06/2007 10:28

Hi all glad to hear everyone seems well.

I started my pregnancy yoga class last night in Hook at's the same one i went to 3 yrs ago and the instructor even remembered me! I really enjoyed it and would definately recommend - you get to meet other preg ladies, exchange tips and moan as well as learning good safe stretches and relaxation techniques for labour.

Those of you with swollen feet/hands at yoga they say to keep them moving to help circulation. wiggle fingers/toes and circle wrists/ankles.

Birth horror stories - heard plenty of them but everyones experience is so different. I didn't have a long labour just 3 1/2 hrs from first contraction to baby out! I didn't have pain relief because it happened too fast but i coped fine and it wasn't awful. That doesn't mean to say the whole experience was lovely but i don't think anyone expects that! I will only tell people this unless they ask for the gory details!!!

No buying baby stuff for me because have everything from ds so all i need to do is get things down from the attic and wash/clean them up. Don't want to do that yet because i've got nowhere to put anything! Need to sort out ds wardrobe and try and fit lo things in too! Mission impossible! so i'm waiting until at least 30 wks!

DP has agreed to stay for 6 months minimum and make a real effort to make it work/ be around for new arrival and to help me. If after this time he doesn't feel he can do it anymore then we'll go our seperate ways! I think this is the most logical decision at the moment but he's still out most nights and behaving like a teenager!

MrsFish · 06/06/2007 10:49

Glad you have come to some sort or arrangement Chatty, if it doesn't work out he'll hopefully help you out in the meantime. My thoughts are with you.

I have started waddling too, I feel like a whale at the moment and the weight is piling on a stone and 8lb already

Went out last night and had a lovely meal as it was our 3rd wedding anniversary. Also had ds's new big boys bed delivered so need to sort a mattress out for that now and get him moved into his new room. It is his second birthday on saturday. He was due on our first wedding anniversary but arrived 4 days late, for which I am glad so we can celebrate separatley.

Feeling so knackered today, got to bed at midnight then proceeded to wake at 1.20, 3.10, 4.30, 6.10 and 7am, had heartburn till 4.30 falling asleep sat up with DH in the spare room, dreamt I gave birth to this one at six months he just popped out but looked like he was six months old and the spitting image of ds1...
yaawwwnnn!! Off to SiL's in an hour so ds can keep himself occupied with my two nieces
Sorry to waffle on

hannahsaunt · 06/06/2007 12:40

Quick question - would you be concerned if you had blood-streaked urine? Still lots of movement from the baby.

(Chattyhan - glad that you have an interim arrangement - do you feel better?)

seamonster · 06/06/2007 12:44

Yes. Get it seen to asap before it gets worse becomes a problem for you both.
Good luck.

LoopyLouLisa · 06/06/2007 12:45

I would def call doc/mw just to be on safe side. preg women are very vulnerable to urinary tract infections but you wouldn't want it to get worse before seeking help as you may become very uncomfy xx

Pennypops · 06/06/2007 13:07

Hi everyone,

Glad everyone seems to be doing well! Chatty I'm really glad that you've managed to find a way forward with dp. I hope with all my heart that during this time he realises what he's got.

I can confirm if it makes anyone feel better that I am also starting to waddle. I walk sooooo painfully slowly. Anything over snail pace gives me a stitch! I was 10 mins late for an eyebrow shape (indulge me - I'm turning into the honey monster) on Saturday as I underestimate how long it takes me to walk anywhere.

Main news - started NCT class on Monday night - was really scared as I thought it would be full of organic earth mummies who had the nursery decorated at 3 months but mercifully everyone seemed really nice and normal and just as clueless as dh and me!

tassis · 06/06/2007 13:59

HA (yes I'm spying on you! ) I'm sure you're fine, but please phone midsife or EPU asap xxxx

hannahsaunt · 06/06/2007 15:13

For tassis : dh has decreed it a non emergency and I am planning to call GP first thing tomorrow while he takes sample to the ward for processing (prob some form of UTI but symptoms mean could be kidney infection - now wouldn't that make his day!!!). GP ususally v good at seeing pg people same day (and can't go today for work reasons)

tassis · 06/06/2007 16:46

thanks for update HA! let me know how you get on at doc

ccpink · 06/06/2007 17:40

chatty - really glad to hear you've sorted something. It sounds like a mini compromise so fingers crossed he will buck up when baby arrives
Tassi - I have booked nct but they said it was best to go in the 6 weeks prior to edd. How come you're going now? You'll have to let me know if you think it's worth it. I decided to try as we have moved around country so much that don't know that many people here. All my friends are scattered.
I'm waddling and swollen. Saw mw today and all perfect but confirmed spd so just have to continue snail step walking etc.
I am proud of the fact I have bought my first thing though - moses basket. Gone for Barnaby Button [m&p] range but got it on e-bay as new

EdieMcredie · 06/06/2007 21:02

Hi can't be bothered to do link but look at Ecobaby website for brilliant eco friendly products. My mate raved about their nappies and said her children never had rashes with these. Not that expensive either.

laksa · 07/06/2007 11:05

Hi guys,

Chatty, am glad you have a bit of stability for the months ahead. I have been enjoying my pregnancy yoga too but am now a bit worried as I woke up this morning feeling a little mild pain in my pelvis and not sure if this is the start of spd as I took a long walk with dh last night. I also did pregnancy yoga on tuesday which involves alot of wide leg stance/squat type poses. Can this exaccerbate pain in the pelvis?? I don't want to stop as I enjoy the class so much Is all pelvic pain automatically down to spd and doomed to get worse??

Talking of heartburn, I managed to go to bed on a full stomach of chicken vindaloo and 2 bowls of ben and jerrys with no hint of heartburn yet the other day just because I failed to eat for a couple of hours I got a horrendous bout...whats up with that

For all those who've had birth horror stories thrust upon you, I find that sticking my fingers in my ears and singing 'la la la, I can't hear you' repeatedly helps

Mrs Fish, congrats on 3 yrs of marriage, hope you had a nice time. We celebrate our 2nd year at the end of august. Doesn't the time seem to fly by, seems only yesterday that I was stressing over flowers and guest lists etc.

Hannahsaunt, glad you are seeing someone, you don't want to develop a kidney infection if you can avoid it.

Hope eveyone is feeling good and blooming nicely!

xx

FilBrit · 07/06/2007 12:06

Hi Everyone

Quick freebie alert! If you are near a tescos, and sign up for the their baby and toddler club, or let them know you are expecting another, they are sending out a voucher so that when you buy a a pack of newborn huggy nappies (not very eco friendly I know, sorry! ) you also get a free basket of goodies such as wipes, lotions etc worth approx £12.

Chatty - great news about things, I really hope it all works out for you

Mrs Fish - congrats on 3 years!

Hannahsaunt - was everything ok?

Filbrit x

Chattyhan · 07/06/2007 13:00

Thanks for the tip filbrit - i'm a member of several clubs - huggies, pampers, bounty, tesco etc. They send out magazines, freebies and some great discount vouchers so are definately worth the junk! Hadn't thought to tell them i'm pregnant again but will do now!

hannahsaunt - do i feel better? I'm not sure what i feel at the moment - i'm relieved he's staying in the short term and that i won't have to struggle whilst expecting a new baby but as for the future i really think he's a jerk for doing this and i really feel i deserve better - unless he makes some big changes then i can't see it working out family life to me is more than me doing all the childcare/chores and him just paying bills and thinking thats his contribution. Sorry for the rant - i guess i'm pretty angry about the whole thing!

MrsFish · 07/06/2007 13:14

You have every right to be angry Chatty, once lo is born you will know what to do that is best for you all, good luck.
