This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

Ah congrats everyone, looks like there are lots of us in the two-under-two boat! Crikey @toasterstrudle and @sarahhh1984 - I hadn’t considered the buggy situation!! I love our current buggy, it’s a special edition print, ha! Really not practical for two bubbas though, d’oh!

sarahhh1984 · 09/03/2018 11:11

@Nightmanagerfan I went to Bravissimo and found them to be really helpful. They advised me to go for two normal non-wired bras for pregnancy and found me a fit that meant I had a little room in them if I got any bigger over the course of nine months. I think I got Panache ones that were lacy and not to hideously unattractive!

They advised me to go back shortly before I was due to get re-measured for nursing bras, which I did. I think I bought about three, took the labels off one so I could have it in my hospital bag but then kept the labels on the others so I could change them if my size increased massively!

There's nothing stopping you buying nursing bras now and reusing them, but I found I wore my soft cup bras to death and they were so stretched out and unsupportive by the end of my pregnancy I'd have needed new ones anyhow.

january29 · 09/03/2018 12:35

@skylady congratulations, my dd will be 22 months when they one arrivals so 2 under 2 for a bit! Still breastfeeding too, are you?

january29 · 09/03/2018 12:36

@skylucy sorry previous post autocorrected x

Potkettleblack2 · 09/03/2018 13:24

Nightmanagerfan I found nursing bras didn't support my pregnancy boobs enough! First time round I bought a non-wired from M&S which was cotton and quite stretchy for when I grew, I found it good at the time. But second time, I wore sports bras all the time-not attractive, but I felt I needed the support. I'm only 5+2 but already I am thinking I need something!

SkyLucy · 09/03/2018 13:28

Hi @January29, yes, I'm still breastfeeding too... loads at the moment! I was hoping to continue til DD is 2, but that's 4 months after #2's potential arrival, and I don't think I can handle tandem feeding!! I wanted to have my body back for a bit too, but never mind! None of it's really sunk in yet, guess I'm excited and thrilled but a bit sad for my lovely little daughter and our special time together.

Nevada54 · 09/03/2018 13:32

Hi everyone, thought it was about time I joined!
My first is due 3/11 :)

I'm really anxious..my heart sinks every time I go to the loo in case there is bleeding when I wipe. I'm totally over analysing everything and not sure I can carry on like this for another 6 weeks so thinking about an early scan.

january29 · 09/03/2018 13:55

@skylucy I’m excited but like you wonder how my dd will cope sharing me and our time. Still hopefully she’ll love being a big sister! I’m not sure about tandem feeding but dd feeds to sleep so need to work on that!

january29 · 09/03/2018 13:57

@nevada54 welcome and congratulations, it’s an exciting but anxious time. I had an early scan last time really helped bridge the gap till 12 weeks, I find counting down to each appointment helped time pass. Try to enjoy.

manmoth · 09/03/2018 14:13

Hello everyone - I'm new to posting on mumsnet, although I read it regularly to get advice about everything.

@nevada54 it's my first too and I'm due 11th Nov Smile

I'm actually about to move to Paris with DP so I thought it'd be nice to have an English-speaking community to chat to in the coming months.

BergamotMouse · 09/03/2018 14:33

Hi all, I just got my bfp this morning and think my due date is the 18th.

Bit anxious as had a molar pregnancy that I had surgical management to remove in December and was told not to conceive for 6 months as I go through the monitoring process.

Anyway, here I am, about 4 weeks pregnant.

I'm going to catch up on the whole thread later but thought I'd say hi.

Rideforthehills · 09/03/2018 14:44

Bonjour @manmoth,

I'm in France at the moment too. Are you having all your antenatal care and birth here?

Are you a permanent resident. I'm just here short term for study so thinking will go back to UK for scans and birth but not sure yet. I'm trying to find out how transferable care is using an EHIC - just in case I need anything while I am here, particularly in an emergency.

best of luck to everyone - still early days for us all x

manmoth · 09/03/2018 14:50

Salut @Rideforthehills! Yes - we're moving there for a couple of years (that's the initial plan) so will be having all antenatal care and birth there. I searched on mumsnet and found an old thread discussing giving birth in France. Quite a few people were saying EHIC covers it, although things might have changed since then. I don't speak any French yet so navigating everything is going to be... interesting. A friend of ours is a doctor in Paris and she recently had her first so I'm hoping I can ask her lots of questions!

SkyLucy · 09/03/2018 14:50

I feed to sleep and nap too @january29, and we're all co-sleeping at night at the moment. I fear all that needs to change sooner than I'd planned... easier said than done though!

mascaraisamust · 09/03/2018 16:28

I found h&m maternity bras good, not too expensive either.

@nevada54 I'm also booking an early private scan fingers crossed, for around 8 weeks. I also found like @january29 it helped bridge the gap and put my mind at ease.

The cold has finally done one. 6 days of feeling awful! Not sure if being pregnant made it worse but found it really hard to recover.

WazFlimFlam · 09/03/2018 16:40

I have just self-referred to my nearest hospital and it all feels real now.

I was also wondering about bras. I am petite but large chested and have 32F breasts at the moment and it is agony to run for the bus. And I keep on forgetting it is agony to run for the bus.

I am in a plain, well fitting underwired, soft, full cup bra. Am I best off getting something v supportive such as a sports bra, or a stretchy bran with no underwire. TBH they don't look very supportive!

My boobs haven't swollen at all, they are the exact same size as they were before I was pregnant, if anything they have shrunk a bit due to some weight loss before conceiving. I have heard large boobs don't necessarily inflate as much as smaller ones, is that true?

And what actually is the difference between a maternity and nursing bra?

MeredithShepherd · 09/03/2018 17:00

A nursing bra tends to have flaps that makes it easier to just get your nipple out rather than lifting the whole thing up to feed the baby. I had both last time and think I may need to find them again before long. Not much difference in comfort from what I remember though

WazFlimFlam · 09/03/2018 17:06

Thanks Meredith. But why don't they call them breastfeeding bras then 😕

SlowTango · 09/03/2018 17:09

I took another test today just to be sure. Thankfully BFP again. We are going to tell our parent this weekend but my first midwife appointment isn’t until next week. Has anyone else done this? Is stupid to tell a couple of close people now? It’s a wee bit early than I would have liked but for various reasons it makes sense to do it now (one being that I’m a terrible liar 😂)

AJ89 · 09/03/2018 17:38

@SlowTango we have told close people already. Only because when I had a miscarriage previously I felt so alone as we told no one. Fx it doesn’t happen again but if it did I feel as though I would have more support around me.

WazFlimFlam · 09/03/2018 18:01

First preggo low point: being Id'd for alcohol free beer.

dontquit · 09/03/2018 18:09

Hi @wazflimflam I'm a dd usually. In pregnancy go to an e/f so a good bit bigger. 6 weeks now and bras getting pretty uncomfortable. Last time I went with panache sports bras and they were amazing for support and comfort. Will be digging them out soon/buying new ones. I found most maternity bras rubbish.

Nursing means breastfeeding (might be American term). Hence they call them nursing bras.

Alissa2018 · 09/03/2018 18:47

Can I join? I've just had my BFP earlier this week, waited ages to test cos I just couldn't believe I'd be pregnant! I think I'm due around 4th November. This will be my first! So excited!

MeredithShepherd · 09/03/2018 18:47

We’ve also told both sets of parents. I told my manager at work and then had to tell a few of my best friends as I couldn’t keep it quiet. My dp is so excited as it’s his first child but he works away a lot so I think that’s worrying him that he’s going to miss things.

MiniMinions · 09/03/2018 18:50

@SlowTango we are telling parents and siblings this weekend and then hoping to keep it to ourselves until first scan. Not sure how successful that will be as have a few events coming up and also think will end up having to let work know when get appointments as don't think they will coincide with school holidays. I haven't heard back from drs surgery yet, apparently been an increase in pregnancies the last few weeks and with the snow behind on appointment contact or something...hoping I hear by Monday.
