FFS - just thought I'd check in - was bloody hours ago and I've just caught up with all the drama. Couldn't bear to read other thread, got the gist though. Thought last title was best ever. Some people take themselves soooo seriously.

Anyway, election tomorrow and our school is polling station so yippee, I get a day off work .

Twiga · 02/05/2007 23:29

Just logged in to catch up and ouch at today's set to. To be honest not read the whole thing as it looked like it was all spiralling into general nastiness. Hated some of the sweeping generalisations I was reading so gave up before I got . Hadn't given any of the thread titles a second thought - maybe coz I've not been around much - generally just log in to see how everyone is and catch up occasionally. Hope no-ones been too upset by it all on either side.

Dd's first night in her big bed is going well - took nearly two hours to get her settled but that was due to extreme excitement and the sheer novelty of being able to climb in and out etc. Still very sore today with the whole spd thing and think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and push for a physio appt - could take up to 4 weeks though so hardly seems worth it but hey. Dh had a random day off today which was nice so we got the hard wood down in the kitchen ready for the lino arriving in the next fortnight. Also lovely news from a close friend today - her wee girl arrived safe and sound, end of her pg been a bit tricky so really good that all is well - got to the hospital with around 35mins to spare eek! Both doing well and nice news to finish the day on .

Seansgirl · 03/05/2007 08:51

Morning all and hope you all had better sleeps than me - had terrible HB and DH snoring like a fucking wounded wilderbeast! aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh... and couldn't go into spare room as bed is covered in crap from various other rooms whilst decorating!

Hope DS is feeling better this morning Derlor, and that you have managed to get some sleep.
Good luck Catsuitgirl for scan next week.
Foxy - if I can have this homebirth might need to start asking ridiculous questions - we same EDD so may be needing a foxyhotline!!! on the prams, have forgot about Hollys sight - am going to check that out to see if I can get it cheaper so far best price I found was £249.00 free delivery + accessory pack (not mentioned that to DH!!)
Don't think I have forgotten anyone? if I have sorry - its cos I have skim read all of yesterday!

anyway, today is another day and sorry never made it back to discuss hairy fanjos but had work set out with an awkward DH !he just can't make decisions quickly - where as I'm - 'right yes lets do that .. ' move on to next thing!

riabutterflew · 03/05/2007 09:00

Oh good another day to look forward to.

Very little sleep here either and spent my waking time fretting about DH going back to work (I know it's silly but we actually did some stuff to get ready for the baby TOGETHER and that somehow made it see better.) and then general other stuff that I can't do anything about.

Hopefully can channel my misery into something useful, but expect to be here a lot doing general moaning. Sorry in advance.

Might get some chocolate when I do the playgroup run...

riabutterflew · 03/05/2007 09:01

Typing crap today too. That should be seem.

sputnik · 03/05/2007 09:16

Morning all!
Hard to catch up with everyone....

Derlor I hope your DS is a little better today and you can manage a break from mopping fevered brows to pop in here. It's horrible when they're really ill, for the worry and the lost sleep, it's really the worst part of parenting for me.

Seansgirl very for you, hope the next scan goes well and you can have your homebirth.

Lilkel, don't know what to advise really as I have no experience of c-sections and recovery times etc. Do you have anyone that can help you with the childcare etc, is your Mum planning to come over at all? I'm with Marylou in the "doesn't actually matter how they come out" camp, having a c-section is not a cop out or easy option, and I think your concerns are legitimate. You don't have long to go now and I'm not surprised you're having last minute second thoughts, maybe it's a bit like having cold feet before a wedding, you are suddenly face to face with the cold reality of it all! Hope you can find someone to talk it through with.

Twiga, congrats for your DD, mine still isn't in her new bed and room. The ceiling is painted, only the walls to go now!

riabutterflew · 03/05/2007 09:17

Ha! Just had an unexpected positive thought!!!

DH doesn't trust his workmates to get ready for a Bank Holiday weekend on their own ... but he obviously trusts me to get ready for the baby on my own! (Is that grasping at straws?) He obviously doesn't quite get the addictive nature of having nice virtual friends to talk to...

Kitchen cupboards here I come

westcoaster · 03/05/2007 09:19

Morning folks - well, thank the lord yesterday's over and done with. Don't think I could have coped with much more - got my big pg knickers in a right twist. DH has kindly suggested I go out and get a life today so am compromising with a pedicure...(Apologies to you poor sods who are still working)

Derlor - sorry to hear that your day was so crap yesterday. Hope LO is feeling a bit better today - his temp will increase naturally towards the end of the day e.g. 4 - 6pm (everyone's does, apparently), so I was advised to time the medication with that. (DD was a past master at throwing 'shakeys' with temperature spikes) Will send you hugs across the ether & hope that your dp realises the error of his football ways.

Seansgirl - great news about your scan & home birth.

Big smiles to the rest of you June'ers.

BadZelda · 03/05/2007 09:29

Morning everyone. Sorry to hear people haven't been sleeping properly...hope you get a chance to rest today. Derlor - is little one any better? Can't imagine how stressful it must be. DDs only had one fever ever really, and that broke in about an hour. Not sure how I will cope if she ever gets really ill - fingers crossed it's not glandular fever which sounds v. nasty!

My friend just sent me a link to this BEAUTIFUL pic he took at the wedding on saturday (before the woman burnt lo's face with her nasty fag) www.flickr.com/photos/paulpod/478975804/ awwwwwwww. Decided to work at home today, but also try NOT to get distracted by talking on here - so if you see me on here before lunchtime tell me to bugger off!

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/05/2007 09:33

hairy fanjos

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 09:49

Hiary Fanjos to you too, Tallulah.....

What's wrong wiht good morning like everyone else

I'm glad it was a link to a thread and not some gruesome horrible pictures

Just out of bed...DH did the school run this morning before he headed off for work, bless his dear heart. He came home last night, I saw him for about an hour, then he went to the pub, slept on the sofa when he came home and I saw him for about 30 mins total this morning (and he brought me two cups of tea in bed). That's him till tomorrow night now....ah wedded bliss. I truly think that this is the secret to a long and happy marriage

Right, gotta have a shower and get ready for MW appoinment...hopefully nothing sinister in my wee.....

Later ladies...have a good morning

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/05/2007 09:55

LOL Daisy.
Was so excited about successfully doing a link didn't think to explain. But of course I meant Good Morning Everyone.

Daisybump · 03/05/2007 10:04

Been invired to a wedding in the middle of July....LO could be either 5 or 3 weeks old.....any advice? worried I'll be a sweaty, fat, boring guest and that my boobs willl leak and soak through my breast pads....the shame and embarrassment . And WTF do I wear??

Noticed this thread on my meanderings around the site. Can't they just give it a fucking rest......can feel the blood pressure rising again, but will not, I repeat will not get involved

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 03/05/2007 10:09

Good morning ladies!!

I'm going to try to be all happy and lovely today!

Reporting back from last night - my fanjo is in fairly good shape!!! I don't mind if I do say so myself!! .

SG - very good news on your home birth plan yesterday - bet you woke up feeling more positive today?

On the subject of homebirths what is the June ladies consensus on homebirths for your fist baby? I've started to think about it? I know you're honest so don't hold back - tell me what you REALLY think (non of this wank fluffy crap as seen on other threads) Ta!!

hollyandalice · 03/05/2007 10:10

Hairy fanjos to everyone! Lol tallulah, I clicked on that link with my eyes half shut as I thought it was going to show me lots of hairy fanjos!!

I was going to have a MN break today and do some housework etc., but I have just broken my hoover, so I think that plan has gone out the window! I am bloody pissed off as I am not a very good housewife and am shit at cleaning, but I hate having bits all over the floor. It's my pet hate! When I hoover a spot the hoover picks up the bits and then spits them out again! Grrr...

Derlor I hope you are still asleep! Hope your ds is ok and you didn't have too much of a crappy night xx.

Daisy - I've been invited to an awards dinner in London in mid July, I haven't accepted yet cos I don't know what state I'll be in - as this is my first time - will we be in a mess in July?

hollyandalice · 03/05/2007 10:18

DKMA I had a very straightforward water birth with my dd, so it really wouldn't have mattered if I'd have been at home or in hospital. The only difference was that I had to sleep in a noisy hospital room that night and not my own bed. Oh and I wasn't fed from lunchtime when I came in, til 7 the next morning as I was in labour at dinner time! If I was at home I could have had a nice big bowl of something tasty from my own kitchen and a glass of wine! I think if you've had a problem free pregnancy then it's down to you if you have a home birth or not. Discuss it with your MW, most are very pro home birth (mine told me it was because of the relaxed atmosphere and the endless cups of tea and biscuits) and she will help you make an informed choice.

Daisy I had to go to my dp's best friend's wedding when dd was about 4 weeks old. I had to take my medela pump and sit in our room and pump every couple of hours. It was quite traumatic for me to be without her for a whole night, but it was nice to relax and get pissed! I did wake up covered in milk though and my boobs felt like they were going to explode! I had to go and buy a new outfit because I was seriously fat still! Just a black and white skirt and top combo. I didn't feel up to colours or dresses!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 03/05/2007 10:25

Thanks Holly
MW did say she would support me - but also said she'd prefer if I went to hospital as it is my first time and unsure about how my body will cope with labour as I've not done it before (which makes sence).
I really want a water birth (will help with the pelvis problem) but the hospital only has one pool so would be pot luck if I got it or not.
We live about 20 mins away from the hospital.
Just dunno what to do.........

Seansgirl · 03/05/2007 10:27

Hairy Fanjos! Its like our new greeting isn't it? "Hi Hairy Fanjos!" "hmm, yes Hairy fanjos to you too...anyway about the price of bread?" Was like Holly and half shut my eyes when clicked!

Lilkel, like Sputnuk I don't know what to advise either as have no experience. I mentioned that I wasn't keen on having one myself to a friend who had her first cs and second vbac and said both were equally wonderful experiences, and she said the recovery isn't as bad as you think, and she would do either again. And I have to say I felt a bit silly then and now have an open on it on the small chance that I end up having one. I am really keen onthe hoembirth but then have panics about it, thinking will I be able to do it? and will I end up going to hospital anyway? Hope that you can sort it out in your own mind and make the decision that is right for you and LO. Good luck.

DKMA I don't see why you couldn't have a home birth - but I know when I had DD they wouldn't even think about it as it was first and the excuse was they didn't know how my body would labour IYSWIM. I think you should talk to your MW asap so that if you can have one and you decide to ahead you need to prepare really.

hollyandalice · 03/05/2007 10:32

DKMA ask your mw if you can take a birth pool in a box with you if you go to hospital. I know some hospitals allow this and some actively encourage it. One of the reasons I chose to have a home birth this time was because I would not have been able to cope if there wasn't a pool available at hosp. I bought a birth pool in a box so I could guarantee that I was able to have a water birth.

Hairy fanjos to you seansgirl !

OP posts:
Seansgirl · 03/05/2007 10:37

Daisy, I think its upto you and down to personal choice really. I am not sure what I would do for the same reasons TBH, but I suppose I would probably either go for a short time if possible, or not go TBH. Thats probably not much help I'm sorry. We have a wedding thats a work colleague of DHs and have to say I have looked doubtful when he mentioned it (would mean travel + hotel) and LO would be 6-8 weeks, would also mean I have to take LO as cannot express. I suppose its cos I don't really know the people and partly think, no too much hassle! Sorry to waffle am really just typing what crap comes into my head!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 03/05/2007 10:37

Good thinking H&A, if I could take a pool in I would be MUCH happier.
Apart from having to spend the night alone on a ward with a load of potential wierdos.
I do like the idea of being at home with DH and our new creation as a new family on the first night. But I suppose thats just a 'nice to have' senario not a 'need to have' I suppose it's more important to have all the medical back up if needed?

Seansgirl · 03/05/2007 10:38

"oh yes and hairy fanjos to you Holly! Hope you are well!"
