Morning! Am NOT going to be on here for long today ... honestly. So much to do, and had a good sleep last night so better capitalise on it - don't know when the next one will be.

Ahh, Ria, yes, when they are sleeping in their beds like angels ... they are truely wonderful human beings no matter how big little shits they were doing the day.

Where is Doggus these day?
and very quiet without Holly on here yesterday?
Everyone OK?
Can we please have a round up, I don't want anyone disappearing off without telling us you know!

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 09:38

Yes, come back everyone - even if you are just lurking!

BadZelda · 07/05/2007 09:58

Morning Bumper - just so you know you're not on here alone. Sorry to hear you've been all achey - sounds horrible!Well I say 'sounds' horrible - have fairly clear memories of these kinds of pains, and they really make staying in bed miserable. Can you try and get to an osteopath? (can't remember where you live). May not be able to make a huge difference before you deliver, but it's really important to learn how to guard your joints against further damage when baby comes and you find yourself carrying / feeding etc...and they gradually get heavier...

BadZelda · 07/05/2007 10:06

p.s. maybe I am 'monumentally under-sensitive' (quote from that thead which darling husband picked up on and thought was HILARIOUS) but I haven't felt like crying once in the last few months. Although I did feel like kicking a few people from time to time. Don't feel that enormous either, but I'm worried that's because I've got a midget baby in my belly and no one has picked up on it because I've had so few appts and never seen the same midwife twice I realise this is all probably irrational...

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:07

Hello all! Just spent an hour catching up - on this thread but also the shouty one from dear vvvvvvvvvvv - very worrying

Feeling shite today - was out last night until midnight (nice evening as it goes but everyone else pissed) then slept badly and now have that lack-of-sleep-headachey feeling. Am telling myself it's good practise for the months ahead.

And the weather's pants, too. Days like this are made for crawling back under the covers, right? Because that's exactly what I'm going to...

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:10

BZ, I sympathise. I don't feel that huge - bump is couple of cm under my dates (within normal range, but still...) and haven't put on any weight elsewhere. Half the time I'm pleased, the other half I'm completely paranoid that my baby isn't growing enough and that he's going to be tiny...

I can't seem to eat that much at the moment, either - I just don't get hungry. Went out for pizza last night and ate about a third of it. Am guessing it's because my stomach is scrunched up? Trying to snack a lot and eat when I remember, but it's weird, I just don't have much of an appetite. Except for M&S extra chocolatey chocolate and orange biscuits, of course, but we've run out of them...

BadZelda · 07/05/2007 10:10

On the bright side I did go to a comedy club last night till midnight as kind uncle babysat for us, and laughed so much I thought I was going to burst my belly. Now if only I hadn't been surrounded by chainsmokers would have been just perfect: roll on the smoking ban!

BadZelda · 07/05/2007 10:14

Yeah - Ella was only 6.5 pounds (arrived at 38+6...so it's a myth first babies are always late!) and as I'm not tall it wasn't THAT unexpected...but she still felt so much tinier than the eight-and-more pounders that everyone else seemed to be having...a bit freaky when everyone who sees your baby for the first couple of months feels the need to comment on how small they are! NO there's nothing wrong with her she's just little!

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:16

I've managed to squirrel away downstairs (overlooking freshly mown grass - and lots of weeds) for a few minutes to drink a coffee and catch up. DH is finally up!!!

Glad you had a good time last night catsuitgirl - know what you mean though - there's only so much you can take when everyone else is getting pissed.

This is a long shot but does anyone know where to buy a union jack cushion? The one I saw a while ago in the Telegraph mag was a vintage looking thing (it's not a naff tourist shop one) - it was also quite expensive.

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 10:25

this sort of thing annobal?

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:25

I know - everyone I know has had big babies - 8,9, 10 pounds - and I've kind of got it in my head that big is good and healthy. Isn't helped by midwife who raised her eyebrow at me four weeks ago and said 'well you're not very big, are you?'. Like, thanks - and she knows I'm having growth scans, so you'd think she'd be a touch more sensitive... Still, am growing at good rate (apparently) even if he is a bit small (obstetrician described him as 'small to medium' which sounded like a clothing size to me... suddenly got very defensive of this little creature inside me), so am not going to worry about it.

Much.

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 10:25

or this?

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:27

Ooh, groovy website bump. Thanks!

Annobal, I know - it makes me realise what I'm like when I'm drunk . Has anyone noticed how shouty people get when they've had a few, too?! Not shouty aggressive, just bloody loud! (whcih could also account for my headache...)

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:28

Thanks Bumper - that's exactly the sort of thing - I think the one I saw had a more colour in it and was in silk but that would also work!

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 10:31

I think panic is starting to set in now with all this worries. In my sobbing state on the kitchen floor yesterday I suddenly started to have a bit of a panic that there may be something wrong with the baby. As time draws closer it just becomes a bit more real.

I think this one is going to be small anyway. I'm pretty small and me and my siblings were all under 7lb. Also convinced it's going to be early - not sure why, just a feeling I have (or is it jut being fed up with being pg!).

Glad you guys were out having fun last night! on the lack of appetite catsuitgirl - I had icecream for my brekkie yesterday, eating isn't something I am having a problem with at the moment!

BadZelda · 07/05/2007 10:31

Look on the bright side Catsuitgirl...final stage of labour was under an hour and no rips or cuts! And Ella is actually taller than lots of 2.5 yo's now, so they do even up. Did you say how tall you are? I'm just under 5'2" and have small bone structure, so I think it's true they fit themselves to your size.

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:32

Sorry x-post - great websites Bumper! Why did I not find them when I googled?

Catsuitgirl - I'm also measuring small for weeks but baby has been transverse pretty much all the way which could account for it.

I did hear about a 10lb 12 baby last week - ouch! Aparently they are easier to deliver tho as they can't move around as much as a smaller baby - but still, its got to have a big head surely

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:36

I'm 5'6, but I'm very small boned. DH is 5'11 but also pretty slim. Apparently he was long and thin when he was born, so who knows... (I was teeny as was my sister - she was 4 pounds, I was just over I think. And not very premature, either. Maybe we lost our appetites in the womb, too... ) But then, she went on to have some whoppers! Her DH is very tall and broad, though...

Thanks for reassurance - I think you're right, your body makes a baby tailored to fit, so am just going to put my faith in it!

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 10:37

another

sputnik · 07/05/2007 10:37

Morning all, hope you're having a good bank holiday.

Just got my baby shower gift, from someone wonderful in Southampton so no prizes for guessing I think, unless someone is bluffing

Anyway I got the exact blue dungaree set with elephants on from vertbaudet that I wanted to get and couldn't because you can't order from outside UK, it is really cute and gorgeous, you totally hit the spot there! Plus a box full of eastern bath lovelies, body brush, loofah etc, all in a black wooden box which will look great in our bathroom where we have a bit of a black/white/stone theme going on. PLUS (you generous person!) a lovely glass bead bracelet which DD immediatly appropriated and loves so much I don't really have the heart to confiscate it.

Thank you so much, it's a really thoughtful gift and really brings home to me how great it's been being on this thread and getting to know all of you xxxxxxxx

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:38

Yikes!! 10lb 2...

Mine is very much an on-the-right side baby - when midwife measured last time, I was three cm under normal dates in the middle of my tummy, but when she measured the right hand side I was only 1cm under... Am going to have a very lopsided tummy once he's out

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:39

Oh - and both DSs were small and are now above average for they ages - it definitely evens out and not something to worry about.

Poor you Bumper. Please don't worry that there might be something wrong with the baby - if there were any concerns they would have been picked up and what you are feeling is totally normal. As for the baby coming early, lots do and are absolutely fine - I had DS1 at 31 weeks and he is now a strapping 3 1/2 year old. The consultant said to me at the time that 34 weeks was a good hurdle to get to.

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 10:40

That sounds fab sputnik! Hope you are doing ok anyway? How's that cervix of yours doing?

I'll stop bombarding you now annobal - can you tell I'm bored?!

Ok, have to in a minute and have a shower and go to B&Q to get paint samples.

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:40

Ooh, bump, I'm loving these websites - thank you! Am going to have a nice little browse - perfect fayre for a miserable bank holiday monday!!

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:42

Annobal, do you mind me asking why your first came at 31 weeks? Was it an emergency c-section? Just interested because a lot of people I've met lately had babies very early - but I haven't felt able to ask how/why/and what happened!
