Call me monumentally insensitive but that shouty thread made me laugh

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:43

No - don't stop - these websites are great - paint samples can wait

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 10:44

Sputnik, you are SO monumentally insensitive

hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 10:44

Morning all!! My sodding broadband has been playing up yesterday and this morning so haven't been able to log on...grrrr!! I have just reset it and it all seems to be ok, so fingers crossed!

Just going to check up on all missed posts now!

I missed the best posts, though - they'd been removed by the time I got to read it. People being called whores, I believe. And c*s.

And people get wound up about our threads!!!

Thanks for asking Bumper, I'm feeling pretty good, I've been doing kind of light activity for the last week and even managed a trip to Ikea to get stuff for DD's room on saturday, so feeling less of a prisoner. Have to say resting in bed did my body a lot of good, most of my aches and pains are gone, contractions stopped and I don't grimace going over every bump in the road. Also, I'm 33 weeks today so getting close to the magic 34 weeks Annobal mentions. I see my gynae on thurday and we'll see what she says but I don't really feel like labour is imminent.

Sorry to hear about your wobbly moment, I think it's totally normal, especially as we're reaching the home strait.

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:51

No problem catsuitgirl. Noone really knows why ds1 was early - imho it was due to a urine infection (cue mild panic when I had another in this pg at 18 weeks). I also started having contractions and had to have steroid injection for lungs with DS2 at 32 weeks (born at 37 weeks). I was really ill at the time and I think it is probably something to do with my body that makes it safer for the baby to be out than in.

I wouldn't wish a premmie baby on anyone - it was a really hard time for DH and me.

That said, this pg has been fab - could be something to do with spending huge amounts of money on homeopath, independent midwife and chiropractor (all worth it though). Midwife expects this one to be born around mid-June.

Sorry - I could go on for hours about this

annobal · 07/05/2007 10:55

Sputnik - your pressie sounds lovely. I haven't sent mine yet as the person who is meant to be receiving has already had one - am waiting to hear back from the lovely Marslady - so I do appologise to my secret baby shower.

sputnik · 07/05/2007 10:57

Catsuitgirl, I am so insensitve comments like that are like water off a duck's back

Nice website, I have a friend who makes baskets and all sorts of stuff with the same tachnique as this (cheaper too if anyone's interested )

hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 11:11

OMG I can't believe that sleeping with someone else thread. I bet it's a troll!

Bumper- you will cope, you'll be a fab mum and watching cbeebies all day is really not that bad! You will learn all the songs and sing them at random moments during the day! Esp embarrassing when in sensible adult company! Seriously though, children are fab and having a baby will change your life in the best way possible!

On the baby size front I'm panicking the other way! I'm huge and am sure I'm on course for a 10lber! DD was 8lb 11oz and tore me quite badly! Now though she is quite ickle. I put some 18-24 month jeans on her yesterday and they fell down! She is 2 in 2 weeks! So birth size has little to do with future size!

OP posts:
annobal · 07/05/2007 11:12

Did you see the other one posted Saturday about her wanting advice on if she was pg

annobal · 07/05/2007 11:13

Should also have said that the 10lb 12 baby, there were no tears, cuts or stitches required!

hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 11:14

I know! She sounds like a very sad attention seeker, I'd feel sort of sorry for her if she wasn't so rude!

OP posts:
hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 11:16

2 of my friends have had 12lbers! Needless to say they both had cs!

OP posts:
annobal · 07/05/2007 11:16

omg - that's huge!

sputnik · 07/05/2007 11:17

Yeah Bumper at least you'll be able to participate in the debate over fanciablness of Cebeebies presenters

hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 11:19

Ahhh...Paul from tikkabilla!

OP posts:
hollyandalice · 07/05/2007 11:20

They were both told they were having 8lbish babies! So sizing scans aren't always accurate!

OP posts:
annobal · 07/05/2007 11:22

I'm going to have to start watching cbeebies - we're a nickjr household...

sputnik · 07/05/2007 11:23

Mine was estimated at 2.3 kg last week. Soon I'm going to be worrying about going overdue!

catsuitgirl · 07/05/2007 11:31

Ooh, got sidetracked with lovely shopping websites.

Thanks Annobal - really interesting (and if you can talk for hours about it I'm happy to listen anytime!!)

Holly and Sputnik, if they're big they sleep through the night sooner, right? And they'll get to beat up our little ones at the swings See, there's a silver lining for everything.

RIght, have to go and pick up DH (after boozy night out last night, he mooted the idea of everyone coming back to ours. I said NO WAY, so they took me home and he went back to friend's house instead. He fell asleep there and he's now feeling dreadful, wanting to know why I didn't stop him from going... .

annobal · 07/05/2007 11:33

Just found this and this - in my quest for a union jack pillow (am liking the leather one though Bumper)

sputnik · 07/05/2007 11:37

DD was born at a totally average 3kg, but went on to put on 1kg a month for the first year. She's nearly 3 now and the size of a 4 year old, so don't know if birth wieght really has much bearing in the end. Probably more genetic, DH is quite tall.

sputnik · 07/05/2007 11:41

Oh, and she didn't sleep through til 18 months and is a born pacifisst (wimp), like her mum

IME it's the little ones you have to watch out for

annobal · 07/05/2007 11:49

DS2 was 7lb and slept through at 4 weeks which I thought was great but wakes at around 6ish (5 sometimes but then he goes back to sleep) and dropped his daytime nap at 18 months - DS1 totally opposite and loves to sleep but didn't sleep through for ages!
