LOL Holly....I should gather up the crap left in the bath after DS has been in there...roll it in some soap and amke a fortune!

Enjoying a moment of peace and tranquility as the boys are off to the chippie to get tea in....

My bloody computer keeps crashing. It just re-starts itself for no apparent reason, but I think it may have something to do with the latest XP Service pack from Microsoft as it was fine till that was downloaded.

Off to microsoft website to see if I can sort it out....

hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 18:19

I'm not sure claire. I haven't had any bloods done so far as they won't take them at the surgery, I have to go to hosp which is miles away. Am going to go next week at 34 weeks, so at least I can get the last lot done. I assume it's just to make sure everything is well before labour, iron levels etc. They won't let me have my home birth until my bloods are done!

Oooo daisy, don't download the service packs! Our PC went mental after we downloaded one and we were advised not to download them! Not sure why, but we've not had problems since then.

Claire - poor you what an awful experience for you - the rules are that if after 2 attempts they can't get any blood DEMAND someone else - no health professional should try more than twice - actually i used to always get someone else if i was unsuccessful after 1 attempt. Can't believe they were so unsympathetic to you, they should have taken much better care of you and your DD - shocking - on behalf of nurses - i apologise for your shite treatment oh and i had 34 week bloods done last appt - NO IDEA what they are for other than "routine" i really should pay more attention
PMSL at your garden story Daisy - "thought he was going to brain me" -
DH and i about to have a Chinese then some mint vienetta - YUM
Later x

annobal · 05/05/2007 19:14

Poor you Claire - I hope your hand is feeling a bit better and you and DD are feeling less traumatised.

Is the 34 wk blood test routine? I had bloods taken at 28 weeks but wasn't aware I needed them at 34 as well.

Derlor - am jealous of your dinner - am off icecream at the moment as it affects me badly (as well as yeast, sugar, wheat and dairy). Once this baby is out I'm going to have the biggest icecream I can find along with a vegemite sandwich .

Didn't manage to do the one thing on my list today - mow the lawn - however it is on the list for 10am tomorrow. Did, however manage to finish my book and take the kids swimming...

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 19:28

I never had any bloods done at 34 weeks...why not, am I missing out on vital screening? I did have some taken at 29 weeks - full blood count and Rhesus compatibility. They might be dchecking blood glucose levels to rule out gestational diabetes as I think some health authorities do it routinely, some don't.....mine is obviously one of the don'ts.

Had cheesy chips with salsa and brown sauce for tea......delicious...you can see we're real health food fanatics here, but the tomatoes are 1 potion of my five a day right? Don't know why I did it as I'm going to be suffering with HB as a result. the mint choc chip ice-cream won;t work for me as I don;t really like minty tasting things, except toothpaste and after eights...wonder if they would work as well ??

annobal · 05/05/2007 19:32

As are the chips Daisy

derlor · 05/05/2007 19:33

oh daisy what about after eight ice cream???
i had bloods done at 12, 28 + 34 weeks.

Daisybump · 05/05/2007 19:40

not sure...that whole minty ice-cream thing just reminds me too much of toothpaste...eeewww. I've got peppermint tea though, I can try some of that before bedtime.

I will be asking why I haven't had 34 week blood taken...don't want to be missing out.

Derlor...you must be getting quite close now...you're the beginning of June aren't you? I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, and its all starting to feel a bit...OH, shit, what have I done.....this baby has gotta come out!

FIL is having a meal for his 70th birthday on 3rd June.....provisionally said yes, but who knows, it's a week away from my due date.

derlor · 05/05/2007 19:54

oh daisy i'm 36 weeks on Monday - EDD is 4th June - yikes!!!!!!!!!
funny i'm not keen on mint either and will ALWAYS pass up mint chocolates - now chocolate orange thats a whole other issue!!!! - just about to attempt the mint vienetta though - i'll get back to you on it....

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 05/05/2007 19:55

Hiya

Just caught up on todays goings on...
Claire - I have just passed out for you ...FFS, your blood test fiasco sounds awful. I have a total needle phobia and think you have been VERY brave. I would have prob got admitted onto a ward for having an anxiety attack or something!!!!
Delor - nice to get to see you and your LO's - I love photo's on here cos it's goot to put a name to a face (or pretend name?). Thanks for your comments about my pos cs, I have kinda got my head around it a bit better today.
Hope everyone else is okay today and are having a good start to the Bank Holiday weekend? Holly - pleased you have had 1 night of dry beds!

DH and I have spent the whole day at our NCT class - bit gutted as the sun has been cracking the flags here today!

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/05/2007 19:56

Didn't get bloods at 34 weeks either - and that was the appt when I was finally told my bloods at 28 weeks had come back low on iron. You'd think they'd want to check again. Guess will need to ask for them at 36 week check - though bubs will obviously be here before they let me know if there's a problem so any point really?

LOL H&A about Lush smellies - that's why I let DH have the wretched thing in the first place, didn't want all that foliage floating in the bath with me!

foxybrown · 05/05/2007 20:02

Claire - that is truely horrible for you, poor you and poor DD. I hope you are both OK and not traumatised by it. Am very and for you.

foxybrown · 05/05/2007 20:09

I shan't tell you what I've done today - but I feel Oh So Smug about it - all those 'ticks' on my to do list.

And am still quite motivated, might line the curtains tonight ... la la la

notsolilKel · 05/05/2007 20:09

Derlor! A fellow Jack Reacher fan!! Whoo hooo!!! I've read them all and am just dying for the next one to come out. Can't put them down at all! (this is truly saying something BTW as normally I can't get 25% into a book before finding it deathly boring!). What else can I read in meantime? Junior mag only holds my interest for oh, 20 minutes.............

Hi everyone else - enjoying a Stella and some special K flakes. Ah the joys of pg

foxybrown · 05/05/2007 20:11

ohhh, beer, yes please! am having curry after all.

notsolilKel · 05/05/2007 20:11

Oh re the Lush bath bombs, literally never heard of em before and suddenly own 4 (gift from overnight guest this week). Do they trigger UTIs, anyone know? I've great sensitivity and normally can only bathe in 'Simple' brand bath products

hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 20:12

Evening all!! Hope everyone has had a good day!

Am I being unreasonable....to expect dp's boys not to come down the weekend when I'll be 37+4? He wants that to be the last weekend before baby is born, but I am not keen. Obv after I'm 37 weeks I can have a homebirth. If the boys are here I'm not going to be able to have one and will have to go to hosp. If I miss out on a homebirth because they're here I will be crosser than I've ever been in my life! Dp doesn't think there's much chance of me going inot labour that early (and neither do I TBH), but there is always a chance. I don't know whether to put my foot down and say no or to just take the chance. Opinions please!!

Mmmm...beer!! There is a bottle of real ale in the kitchen, not normally a huge fan, but it is sounding quite tempting atm!!

OP posts:
hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 20:13

Lilkel are they the butterball bombs? If they are you won't have a problem, they are for super sensitive skin and smell delish! I've even used them on my dd!

OP posts:
Daisybump · 05/05/2007 20:21

Why can't you have the homebirth with them there, Holly?
Could you have their mum primed that they might have to cut the trip short if you do go into labour and arrange that she can come pick them up if that is the case, or are things not that cordial?

notsolilKel · 05/05/2007 20:22

Claire - sorry just catching up - what bloody insensitive wankers!!! I had just one horrible blood-giving experience with a very gorgeous but obviously utterly clueless nurse jabbing my arm repeatedly and it was enough to make me faint at the sight of anything pointy for months!! Sympathy ((HUGS))!! It's ok now, I just can't look while they do it!

Herbs - ah yes - can only seem to grow mine on the window sill above my kitchen sink. and only 2 at a time. If I try for a third, it seems to develop inferiority complex or something equivalent in the plant world...

Bumper - have fun tonight!! What lovely outfit are you going to wear? I'm almost resigned to the tracksuit bottoms every day approach but fighting it with all my wanna-be-desp-housewives willpower I can muster.

daisy PMSL at your garden antics. I've ordered my DH to shift furniture around today, bless him, he's obliged so nicely

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/05/2007 20:24

Lilkel - would say if particularly strong smelling, like the ones I had, then could give you a fine dose of thrush. Don't know about the ones H&A has, never tried them.

hollyandalice · 05/05/2007 20:25

God imagine having a baby with 3 teenage boys in the house!! !! Their mum doesn't have a car and it is a 3 hour round trip for dp to take them home. I don't know how likely it is that I will pop before my edd.

OP posts:
Daisybump · 05/05/2007 20:25

hi Lilkel....all this talk of beer and tiger bread....making me feel v grumpy as I can't have either....doesn't usually bother me, but I have been dreaming about sinking my teeth into lovely fresh doorstep chunk of fresh bread loaded with lovely salty butter...yummmmm Ah, well, best go have some gluten free cardboard instead

notsolilKel · 05/05/2007 20:25

go on ladies, crack open a beer and drink with me. we'll open a "BAR for rude ANers only!" - or please help me think of something more clever...

Holly I'd defo plan to pop this baby out if the DP's sons are over. Best was to reinforce importance of contraception whilst young, ya know?
